[Bug 665863] [NEW] ATI Radeon HD 4650 randomly crashes with fglrx driver (in U 10.10 even more often - about each 15 minutes)
Public bug reported: I installed Kubuntu 10.10 in place of Ubuntu 10.04. In 10.04 I experienced a lot of crashes while trying to play movies using XvBA through mplayer. In 10.10 KDE desktop effects have been bringing it to crash even faster. Things started to get better after I had disabled them completely. But absolutely calm my PC is when I use vesa driver. (opensource radeon is way too slow; I can't accept it). fglrx I'm using is so-called 10.10. I remember using 10.4 or so on openSUSE 11.2 and then, or on 10.6 I started to see random crashes. I'll show you a screenshot. (colours of vertical (always only vertical!) lines are random. sometimes instead of striped picture I get some "coloured tv-noise", which I haven't captured yet.) freezes sometimes answer to Linux SysRq combinations and sometimes not. [Bug 615042] Re: MPlayer completion rules complete only specific files
Enter directory like /tmp while watching a video on YT. Pause it inside your browser to watch in way more responsible player like MPlayer. Type as usual: mplayer Flash[Tab] What happens? bash won't fill up the command with appropriate file name, because it's got none of expected extensions like mpeg, rmvb etc. MPlayer plays FLV videos flawlessly and doesn't require an extension to be present as eg. FourCC technologies are being utilised to recognize codecs used to encode multimedia file. bash even without help of additional libraries can recognize type of a file without an extension: $ file FlashXX9kNLBj FlashXX9kNLBj: Macromedia Flash Video It would be great if completion rules would somehow use /usr/bin/file utility to require no extension at minimum. -- MPlayer completion rules complete only specific files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/615042 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
