[Bug 163121] Re: Cannot remove an application

2009-02-24 Thread irfan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 116080 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116080

I’ve been using Wine on my laptop running Ubuntu for a while now. I
posted about it a while back. Wine came in very handy when I had an MP3
file that I needed to trim.

This morning I tried some software under using Wine and was disappointed
when the software didn’t meet my needs, so I uninstalled it. I was
disturbed to notice the entries for the application in my Gnome
Applications menu stayed.

** Description changed:

  Hi,

I am running Ubuntu on Thinkpad. I am facing battery back up issues on both
18.04 and 18.10 versions. Before that I was running Ubuntu 16.04 with a normal
back of almost 4 hours ( 2 Sony Batteries with normal back up of up to min of 6
hours on Linux Mint 19) and when upgrading to 18.04 it reduced to 3 hours max
on normal usage and less than 2 hours on heavy use.
I tried installing Unity session on 18.04/10, the back up increased. I think
it is Gnome doing the mess.

2018-12-04 Thread Irfan
1. Closed firefox and left the laptop idle for an hour and the battery is
almost fast drained again.
2. removeaccesibity extension is important for me because I have a HiDpi
display and normally the screen looks tiny and enabling Universal access helps
and at the same time I don't like the icon present always there, makes me feel
sick, sorry about that!

Please ignore the previous output file, took that too soon after system
boot.

Consider the attachment with this comment, the power usage is still same
and high. I left the machine completely idle for longer.

[Bug 1883905] Re: Touchpad is not being detected by Ubuntu on Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15IIL

2020-08-18 Thread IRFAN
** Description changed:

Laptop is new, I bought it yesterday. I'm dual-booting Windows 10 and
Ubuntu 20.04. Touchpad works on Windows.

The touchpad does not show up in xinput --list and in the devices
(included in the attachment). Its manufacturer is Elantech, at least I
suppose it is, based on an output from acpidump which has shown:

  27AD0: 54 59 01 70 0D 45 4C 41 4E 30 36 33 33 00 5F 48 TY.p.ELAN0633._H

on one line. If it is in fact my touchpad and its ID is 0633, then it is
not included in elan_i2c_core.c file in my ubuntu kernel source (IDs end
at 0632). I tried to modify it myself and compile a new, custom kernel,
but I am quite new to linux so I failed.

[Bug 1795342] Re: High Power Consumption

2019-01-17 Thread Irfan
I installed a new kernel 4.20 on Gnome-shell and the power consumption was
almost same/high.
Then, I removed the kernel and switched back to 4.18 that comes with 18.10 base
and installed unity-session and I noticed a sudden decrease in power
consumption. I don't know, if the problem is Gnome-shell but this is what seems
by switching to unity.

[Bug 224559] Re: Image on webcam is upside-down

2009-05-18 Thread Irfan Adilovic
In Ubuntu 9.04 (at least), under System -> Preferences -> Multimedia
Systems Selector, under the Video tab, then under Default Input, one can
perform certain selections for the Default Input. Here the default in my
case is v4l2src from video4linux2, but i can imagine that one can write
one's own filter or just modify the v4l2src to rotate the image.

Now, how do I tell applications to use this anyway? I tried setting test
input there, but Skype and Cheese never bothered using that - they still
connected to the camera.

Is there any merit in trying to do something here? Any further hints or
ideas?

Hi tdeleeuw,

Can you check if the libstdc++5 is installed on your systems. If not,
then uninstall the lightning add-on and issue sudo apt-get install
libstdc++5. Once the library is installed re-install lightning.

Hope this helps!

[Bug 224559] Re: Image on webcam is upside-down

2009-03-23 Thread Irfan Adilovic
The same symptoms are present even in 2.6.29-rc8-git5. I have a weird
feeling we're gonna wait for a long time for this, Bazilio :-(

This is a very well known issue with UVC. Have a look at (the very
arrogant) footnote #3 here: http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/#footnote-3

You see, flipping the frames in the uvc driver source is a rather simple
thing as demonstrated here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=838210, and there is no such
thing in the kernel uvc driver. It adds a little bit of a processing
overhead because flipping is in software, but what the heck - it works
at least.

Hopefully, in two releases from now, we will have the then-available uvc
drivers in the kernel, which seem to be promising (according to hg log |
grep vflip)

Cameron, fire up your ccsm and have a look at the very first plugin, it
should be "Commands". Check out if your metacity custom commands are
here to be found, and then check if the plugin itself has been
activated, and tell me if it helped.

I would suggest activating this plugin by default.

guys... ive conducted a 14 hour memtest and all seems to be fine, no
errors. With every boot i have been monitoring dmesg, and i can see that
the boot times are varying, at times with a huge difference (~30
seconds). And modules which seem to be taking long in one boot do not
necessarily take the same time in other boots, it's really weird.

setting "TouchpadOff" is 2 (where only tapping is disabled). I had same
problem too, in Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 but when I try to configure using
"synclient TouchpadOff=0" (0= mean enables all functionally) it's
doesn't work. following this instruction
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/Input#Input_Configuration_with_InputClass_sections
I make config file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d with name 50-synaptics.conf
to get back functionality of tap action in touchpad but when I try to
reboot, system doesn't load just stuck in file system check's screen.
I've been search for answer to solve this issue, but I not found it yet.

Thanks anyway for helping, Brad. But It wasn't working. I also did apt-get
install --reinstall dpkg, apt-get -f install,
sudo dpkg --remove (package), sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. I haven't find the way
yet.

[Bug 1413983] [NEW] InnoDB status vars are not conclusive

2015-01-23 Thread Muhammad Irfan
Public bug reported:

Status variables from innodb status are not explained here
http://www.percona.com/doc/percona-server/5.6/diagnostics/innodb_show_status.html
It only describes status variables information coming from different sections

be handy.

[Bug 1359803] [NEW] External mic not being used in combo port

2014-08-21 Thread Mohammed Irfan
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 on my Asus 1015E that only has a combo audio port
which accepts smartphone type "headsets" (3.5mm TRRS headphones with mic
on the same wire).

Ubuntu does not deactivate the built-in mic when I connect my headset.
It doesn't even use the headset mic and instead keeps picking up audio
signal from the integrated microphone (that's on my laptop bezel).

[Bug 876916] Re: gnome-terminal segfault error 4 libgobject-2.0.so

2012-01-23 Thread Irfan Adilovic
Just observed with with a freshly updated Ubuntu 11.10. The error
occurred while moving one tab out of a two-tab terminal window, to make
a separate window for the tab. It happened at the moment when I released
the left mouse button outside the original window. One tab was running a
git svn clone of the gwt repo, the other an svn checkout of the same
repo (though I somehow doubt this is relevant).

[Bug 672153] [NEW] Could not calculate the upgrade. Kubuntu 10.04 to 10.10

2010-11-07 Thread Mohammed Irfan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I got this error from Kubuntu 10.04 trying to upgrade to 10.10 after I
changed the upgrade manager to look for "normal" upgrade mode instead of
checking LTS dist upgrades only.

Also , previously, It was kubuntu 9.10 which was mistakenly , yet
somehow managed to upgrade it to ubuntu 10.04 using an UBUNTU ALTERNATE
CD IMAGE.
