Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

After an upgrade to 11.04, the desktop fails to load, this has been
reported by another user, and a possible solution uploaded but so far no
complete answer to solve the problem. I can get to a terminal screen and
an internet screen using ctrl alt t nd the ctrl alt del then search for

the recommendation was to totry

nautilus -q; gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/panel && killall gnome-
panel

but the process is not found

2011-05-15 Thread Ian McGee
I am suffering the same issue with Natty, it appears from research it is
a 'regression' in the kernel. when is this likely to be fixed as i am
struggling along. i have done several internet speed tests, when i can
actually load the page.

Ubuntu 11.04
quad i5 processecor
kernel version 2.6.8

i tried to install the 2.6.9 kernel but it broke the system and i have
had to do a full install
