[Bug 1761676] Re: Installation of kubuntu 18.04 i386 fails to reboot
There is a hardware problem. smartctl reports read error for the SSD. However, Mint 18.3 installs to the system without any problem. Mint may not check for the error, or if Mint does see the error, it either ignores it or can work around it. A warning about the error would be nice to have, even if the read error does not interfere with installation. Failing the installation on read error maybe kubuntu's design intent, in which case this is not a bug. Mint has a way to complete installation in spite of the faulty SSD. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1761676 Title: Installation of kubuntu 18.04 i386 fails to reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1761676/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1764008] [NEW] Installing 32-bit Kubuntu 18.04 encrypted LVM fails
Public bug reported: Using daily build from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily- live/20180414/bionic-desktop-i386.iso Installing on ThinkPad X41 with two drives. Seemed to install, on reboot got black screen with blinking cursor top left. Did not ask for encryption password when finishing. Installing on same system with only one drive worked correctly. I booted the system from the encrypted hard drive, and it seemed to unlock, but Dolphin could not access it. This is for version 20180408, 32-bit. I have since replaced it.
