Public bug reported: At the end of installation, after clicking the Restart now button, GUI closes, screen shows "print_req_error: I/O error, dev loop0, sector 2420404" and lines for four more sectors. and "SQUASHFS error:squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0xbd54f4b" and lines for several more blocks. Continued repeating these lines for five minutes, then I did REISUB to reboot.Reboot is to text. Logging in and doing "startx" gets a graphical session that seems good. There is a hardware problem. smartctl reports read error for the SSD. However, Mint 18.3 installs to the system without any problem. Mint may not check for the error, or if Mint does see the error, it either ignores it or can work around it. A warning about the error would be nice to have, even if the read error does not interfere with installation. Failing the installation on read error maybe kubuntu's design intent, in which case this is not a bug. Still not working with image from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu /daily-live/20180512/cosmic-desktop-i386.iso This time the system did not reboot. It went to black screen with blinking cursor top left. I booted the system from the encrypted hard drive, and it seemed to unlock, but Dolphin could not access it. This is for version 20180408, 32-bit. I have since replaced it.
