[Bug 1718936] Re: Can't boot Artful 17.10 live images on XPS 15 (9560)

2017-09-25 Thread Hlini Melsteð Jóngeirsson
I have the exact same laptop and have not been able to start 17.10 here
in simple testing with daily images for months. I don't think I have
been able to do so with any 17.10 image. I installed the 4.13.3 Kernel
and on my 17.04 install on the computer and it started up and is running
now as I type this. There were quite some errors when installing regards
to missing firmware but it starts at least.

2017-09-26 Thread Hlini Melsteð Jóngeirsson
I just tried adding "blacklist=nouveau modprobe.blacklist=nouveau" but
it will not boot.

[Bug 1718936] Re: Can't boot Artful 17.10 live images on XPS 15 (9560)

2017-09-27 Thread Hlini Melsteð Jóngeirsson
I was going to add that it should run on Intel by default. I updated the
image to the latest on the USB and tried again and it still hangs even
with the kernel parameters. "blacklist=nouveau
modprobe.blacklist=nouveau" It worked for you Anmar?

Cause I cannot get that to work here. Also this issue is set to "Fix
Released" What fix is that?

[Bug 1591953] Re: userdata packages: don't get installed

2016-06-14 Thread Hlini Melsteð Jóngeirsson
I am seeing the same thing but under /var/lib/cloud/data/result.json I
see an error at least and it's resulting in "Exit code: 100" no matter
what package I select.

Well figured out what it was in my case, just some network issues. It
works now here. Sorry about the extra noise.

[Bug 1619238] [NEW] #cloud-config in user.user-data not running without ip

2016-09-01 Thread Hlini Melsteð Jóngeirsson
Public bug reported:

I'm having the darndest issue that a cloud config script that is present
in a lxc profile and should beapplied on creation is not being run on
boot on any image on three different servers when there is no dhcp
server or IP present on spun up image.

There is nothing in the logs that indicate an error, the process to
apply the cloud data just doesn't run. I can see that data read into
/var/lib/cloud/seed/nocloud-net/user-data and it's present. But it is
not applied unless I manually give the machine an IP address, not before
which is quite annoying as I am applying the IP address through the
profile in this instance.

The logs are no help, they just say it ran successfully when I add an IP
address manually or are silent about running cloud-init when it doesn't
have one.

2016-09-01 Thread Hlini Melsteð Jóngeirsson
I realize this might be a cloud-init issue, some input here that nothing
from the lxd/lxc side is affecting the cloud-init would be appreciated.

[Bug 1054927] Re: Autoupdater fills /boot and crashes because old kernel images are never removed

2013-07-03 Thread Hlini Melsteð Jóngeirsson
This affects all my servers that I run and I regularly need to fix the
apt security updates because it fills the /boot folder. This affects a
lot of people and if you google "Ubuntu full /boot" you will see that
this affects a lot of people. If not all installations of Ubuntu servers
where automatic security updates are enabled.
