[Bug 111018] Monitor goes to sleep and does not get up

2007-04-29 Thread Higinio Raventós
Public bug reported:

When my computer is iddle for some time, my monitor goes to sleep (even
if I have told Ubuntu not to put it to sleep). Then I can still listen
to music and shut down the computer, but my monitor will not recover
even if I press keys, move the mouse, etc (it still sleeps). I have
tried 2 other monitors and the same thing happens.

I do not know your criteria for setting what the importance of a bug is.

What I know is that a _huge_ amount of people are having this problem
and cannot boot. I usually write in the ubuntu forums, and there are _A
LOT_ of posts related to this issue.

Shouldn't this bug be assigned as _CRITICAL_? I am just telling what my
opinion is, but this issue has meant an exceptionally important
regression for Ubuntu.

[Bug 84964] Kernel 2.6.20-8 does not boot

2007-02-13 Thread Higinio Raventós
Public bug reported:

Today I did a dist-upgrade and it downloaded many things, included the
new Kernel 2.6.20-8 and installed them correctly. I am currently using
the previous kernel version (2.6.20-6).

Since today everything had worked fine, but now when grub loads, I
select the latest Kernel and the bootslplash appears, the progressbar
does not make any progress. If I press Ctrl+Alt+F4 I see the message:

run_progess `/sbin/modprobe` abnormal exit

its frozen.

the kernel I'm booting:

"Cannot allocate resource region 2 of device 3.00.0

If I "lspci" that device is:

I think it is related to this bug.

2007-02-20 Thread Higinio Raventós
I use Ubuntu 7.04 Herd 4. I do not use a composite manager. I use GNOME-
Metacity.

Yes, when it freezes I can yo to a command line.

( 2 ) By the way, when I decrease the volume until it reaches the
minimum (silent) and does not freeze, I cannot increase it using the
keyboard. I have to do it manually with gnome's the volume bar.

I cannot find anything related to the problem in those files, neither
reproduce the freeze. I can reproduce ( 2 ).

[Bug 84964] Re: Kernel 2.6.20-8 does not boot

2007-02-20 Thread Higinio Raventós
I took last dmesg on Kernel 2.6.20-8 with JMicron Controller disabled.
Do you need me to do it in Kernel 2.6.20-6 with JMicron Controller
enabled?
