[Bug 113706] automatic .exe filetype association when installing wine

2007-05-09 Thread Hanusz leszek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wine

When wine is installed, I propose to automatically add 2 file types association
with .exe files:

the default association is wine (opened directly).
the second association is wine (debug) where wine is opened within a terminal
with debugging options on.

[Bug 114179] Re: Error establishing an encrypted connection

2007-05-12 Thread Hanusz leszek
Thanks for your bug report
Can you establish an encrypted connection with another browser or is it limited
to firefox ?

from
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.firefox/browse_thread/thread/5c03de873113d39b
:

"error code -12194 indicates that the server to which you connected send you
an SSL "Access Denied" error alert. Normally that message is only sent by
SSL servers that request your client to authenticate itself with a
certificate, and then reject that certificate. That error alert means
"Peer received a valid certificate, but access was denied."

But you report that you're seeing it on all https servers, and the vast
majority of SSL servers never request client authentication.

So, I think the most likely explanation is that you've got some proxy
server or proxy software that is intentionally interfering with all
your https connections. There are so-called firewall products out there,
and so called anonymous browsing products, and so-called advertising
blockers that intentionally block all https traffic because they can't
snoop on it and so they think they're protecting your security by
disallowing all connections on which they cannot snoop. In my opinion,
all such software should be completely expunged from your system..

So, check and see if your browser has become configured to use a proxy,
and if so, try disabling that. Second, if you're using some third party
firewall product, or some so-called anonymous browsing software, try
disabling that and see if the problem goes away. (I predict it will.)
If it does, you know what software is REALLY at fault. "

they are in the libc6-dev package but you'll probably want to install the

If you are looking for other files in non-installed packages, you can install

[Bug 114295] Re: New users added after installation don't have sound

2007-05-12 Thread Hanusz leszek
Thanks for you question.
You're right, it is probably a problem with right-management.
A user should be a member of the audio group to have sound.

I can help you for your user problem but not with your original problem
before you created a new user.

So you need to put your secondary user in the audio group.
The problem is that you need a user which is a member of the admin group to
change the groups.
And you deleted this user

All hope is not lost, you can boot your computer with root privileges
with the following steps:

a) reboot computer
b) when you are in grub (the program where you can choose the kernels), press
'e'
c) go down to the line beginning with "kernel"
d) press 'e' again
e) add "single" to the end of this line
f) press enter
g) press b

Then you should have a terminal with root privileges.
You can then modify the groups of your new user:
usermod -G admin,powerdev,scanner,plugdev,floppy,cdrom,dialout,lp,adm
nameofnewuser

and then:
reboot

you have the feisty repositories for the binary packages but you still have the

You should change all instances of edgy in your source.list file to feisty.

In fact I learned there is an easier way to have the packages with debugging

[Bug 192788] Re: kacpid hogs cpu

I have the same problem with Hardy and the latest kernel (Linux pc1

When it happens, a lot of messages are written to /var/log/messages (see

It is possible to "solve" this problem by adding "acpi=off" or "acpi=ht"

[Bug 123313] support for the windows autorun mecanism - patch included

2007-06-30 Thread Hanusz leszek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

Hello,

I have included a patch to implement this specification:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/autorun

It would allow to autorun windows cd's by reading the reading the
autorun.inf file.

This patch was tested on only a few cd's, so it needs testing before
being merged.

I don't exactly know where should I post patches if this is not the
right place, please tell me where to post it.

[Bug 124107] listen crash when clicking on visualization for second time

2007-07-04 Thread Hanusz leszek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: listen

Steps to reproduce the bug:

* enable visualization in the preferences and restart listen
* play a song
* click on visualization to set it fullscreen
* click again to go back to normal
* click on visualization again.

This time listen will crash with this message in the terminal:

The program 'Music Player Listen' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadGC (invalid GC parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 147 error_code 13 request_code 140 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 113212] Re: firefox does not support sending email through webmail

Thanks for you bug report,

Firefox is not handling email.
You can choose the application Firefox launch when you click an "email link"
with: System—>Preferences—>Preferred Applications

It is possible to add gmail and yahoomail accounts in evolution by activating
pop support.
Example for gmail:

[Bug 1573988] [NEW] Cannot install ubuntu 16.04 with Nvidia GTX 980 Ti

2016-04-23 Thread Hanusz leszek
Public bug reported:

When trying to install ubuntu from the livecd, the following error appears

nouveau :01:00.0: unknown chipset (120080a1)

Workaround for install:

It is possible to install ubuntu by choosing "expert mode" and adding the
following kernel parameters:
nomodeset rdblacklist=nouveau

Problem:

After the installation is done, on the next reboot the entire screen is
black (well it is nearly black, like the grub background color) and the
fans of the graphic card are in full power. It is not possible to boot.
