[Bug 404647] [NEW] Documents with the extension docx
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org I thought that OO 3.0 could read Word documents with the extension docx but I get the message 'file is not a WinWord6 document.' [Bug 1242615] Re: [USB-Audio - U46DJ] Not correctly recognized and no outputs
I'm sorry, "chmap -D hw:U46DJ query" returns me a "command not found". You're right, restarting pulseaudio using "pulseaudio -k" makes the outputs to work. That's a nice trick. > do you mean you want to change the channel map of your 6 channels U46DJ ? What I mean is, I'd like the U46DJ to work as in 13.04: without needing to turn it on before login in (or without the need to restart pulseaudio), and with the option to use it as an "Analogue Stereo Duplex" or "Analogue Stereo Output". Anyway, I'm thinking about going back to 13.04, because I don't see anything in 13.10 that makes me want to keep using it. [Bug 1377329] [NEW] Games dont run from CD, USB memorycard, SD card
Public bug reported: Games don't run from CD, SDcard or USB memory In short: I created a test game for UBUNTU and seems running fine in UBUNTU desktop. But when I try to run it from CD drive ubuntu does not allow running it. I tried all the recommended solutions in documents which should give permission executing files from CD rom, Sd card and others but all failed. Here is the video of the problem please take a look to understand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf-UujaR118&feature=youtu.be You understand if you want to attract quality game programmers to Ubuntu you should allow executing programs from CD rom, USB memory stick and SD card cause external media types allow protecting games from piracy. If not then games published on ubuntu are easy target for hackers. Now that we have wonderful game engines which also allow us to also publish games for Ubuntu you should take this issue serious, otherwise Ubuntu fans will have no other choice but to start making games for other platforms which are now also open to homemade games like android, mac, IOS, xbox and playstation. And the nextgen gameprogrammers will loose interest in making games for Ubuntu. I'll attach the full back trace in an update to this bug. Program received signal SIGPIPE, Broken pipe. [Bug 390728] Re: evolution crash with SIGPIPE
Can't really describe what I was doing, which is why I said "randomly". I was working in another workspace. When I switched back to the workspace that had Evolution, I noticed that the window did not update. So I switched to the workspace that has the gdb session from which I run Evolution and I noticed that it had crashed. It's not reproducible, but I've had several since I run Evolution from gdb. Before that I couldn't tell what caused the crashes. "Several times a week" is my best guess at the moment for the frequency. -- evolution crash with SIGPIPE https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390728 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 390728] Re: evolution crash with SIGPIPE
Pedro, Would you rather have me report these bugs directly into Bugzilla on Gnome or should I got through launchpad? Is that what Sebastian was asking? In the past I have reported directly to Gnome. Perhaps I misunderstood, but I thought one of the advantages of launchpad was to link these together (sort of). [Bug 393754] [NEW] Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 missing dbgsym package
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird My wife has frequent crashes in Thunderbird. I've set up everything so that I can capture stack traces when this happens. However last week Ubuntu was upgraded through jaunty-updates from 2.0.0.21 to 2.0.0.22. But one week later the corresponding thunderbird-dbgsym package in the ddebs.ubuntu.com repository has remained at 2.0.0.21+nobinonly- 0ubuntu1.9.04.1. [Bug 344423] [NEW] System freezing when connecting with bcm4328 wireless card in Jaunty Alpha 6
Public bug reported: I installed Jaunty Alpha 6 on my laptop using bcm 4328 wireless card. As usual this card is always trouble maker when installing ubuntu. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I wasn't doing anything in particular with evolution when it crashed with SIGSEGV. However I do have schedules where I process new messages from a local store and imap and filter these. So it could have been during one of those actions. This happens about ones a day. Please let me know what I can do to help fix this issue. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Evolution crash with SIGSEGV https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385867 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 450253] Re: Karmic hangs during boot
Hmm. Either those instructions in OMGBroken need some work or there is something very weird on my system. I do not have the /sbin/upstart executable. I've also noticed 3 times that the system froze while I was typing to create the /etc/init/sulogin.conf file. If it would freeze during the execution of mountall as well, then that could explain why it only seems to hang with 2.6.31. -- Karmic hangs during boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/450253 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 450253] Re: Karmic hangs during boot
David, sounds like a different issue to me. I didn't have any issues during the upgrade itself and changing the grub boot line from "ro" to "rw" makes no difference (I had to do this anyway in order to create the /etc/init/sulogin.conf file). I've used /sbin/init now and I think I briefly saw "bash" starting before mountall became active. Mountall seems to hang at the same point and the keyboard is unresponsive so I can't do the "ps" command. I left the system in the sulogin prompt before doing anything for a while and than it doesn't hang. I then started to hit "enter" every couple of minutes and the system kept responding. However if I have to type a lot or if I start mountall, it seems to hang. -- Karmic hangs during boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/450253 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: ``` Welcome to Ubuntu 21.04 (GNU/Linux 5.11.0-16-generic x86_64) * Documentation: https://help.ubuntu.com * Management: https://landscape.canonical.com * Support:https://ubuntu.com/advantage System information as of Fri Apr 23 14:15:44 EDT 2021 System load: 4.09 Swap usage: 0% Users logged in: 0 Usage of /: 7.9% of 438.62GB Temperature: 73.0 C Memory usage: 2% Processes: 241 => There were exceptions while processing one or more plugins. [Bug 1855318] Re: autofs tries to find .xdg-volume-info and autorun.inf
The reason of the errors (key ".xdg-volume-info" and key "autorun.inf" not found in map source(s)) is because the wiki (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Autofs) is incomplete. At step 4.2. Create /etc/auto.nfs there should have been an additional creation of the same file in the map /etc/auto.master.d In the instructions of auto.master it states: # Include /etc/auto.master.d/*.autofs # To add an extra map using this mechanism you will need to add # two configuration items - one /etc/auto.master.d/extra.autofs file # (using the same line format as the auto.master file) # and a separate mount map (e.g. /etc/auto.extra or an auto.extra NIS map) # that is referred to by the extra.autofs file. So you can simply copy auto.nfs to the map /etc/auto.master.d After reloading daemons and restart autofs the errors disappear. So this is not a bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1855318 Title: autofs tries to find .xdg-volume-info and autorun.inf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autofs/+bug/1855318/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1855318] Re: autofs tries to find .xdg-volume-info and autorun.inf
I made a file auto.extra with: .hidden /. NAS -fstype=nfs,vers=4,rw,soft,rsize=8192,wsize=8192 :/Download This way autofs is first loading a directory .hidden which is empty, which is on purpose. Now the errors disappear from autofs. I think this is a simple but fine solution. In Thunar the folder .hidden is only visible when the option ¨show hidden files¨ is selected. See also https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1437754 for more info over the bug. ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1437754 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1437754 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1855318 Title: autofs tries to find .xdg-volume-info and autorun.inf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autofs/+bug/1855318/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1855318] Re: autofs tries to find .xdg-volume-info and autorun.inf
Hi, the problem seems to come from gvfs-udisks2-volume-monitor. See upstream: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/287 There the problem is clearly stated : ¨The difference with autofs in comparison with ordinary mounts is that the mount always exists (you can see it in "/etc/mtab"), but do not have to be really mounted. However, gvfs-udisks2-volume-monitor thinks that it is really mounted if the mount exists... Consequently, the following code is called which looks for some files on that mounts (e.g. autorun.inf, .xdg-volume-info), which causes the unwanted automounts for autofs.¨ But no solution for autofs momentarily, the patch proposed caused other issues. ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues #287 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/287 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1855318 Title: autofs tries to find .xdg-volume-info and autorun.inf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autofs/+bug/1855318/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1855318] Re: autofs tries to find .xdg-volume-info and autorun.inf
Btw, I do not have an issue with that the automount daemon completely ignores the map file. In the file "auto.extra" I can also put a line with .xdg-volume-info /- Then the systemd daemon is only mentioning: xubuntu automount[]: the key "autorun.inf" not found in map source(s).
[Bug 1822006] [NEW] Installer crashes when wiping disk

[Bug 1892276] Re: thumbnails stretched on desktop 20.04 after previous bug fix release
A possible fix: In https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/ShellExtensions/desktop-icons/-/blob/master/fileItem.js#L373 (or locally /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/desktop-icons@csoriano/fileItem.js): Replace: `let containerWidth = (this._icon.allocation.x2 - this._icon.allocation.x1) * scaleFactor;` with `let containerWidth = (this._icon.allocation.x2 - this._icon.allocation.x1);` The scaleFactor here is unnecessary. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892276 Title: thumbnails stretched on desktop 20.04 after previous bug fix release To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons/+bug/1892276/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1876741] Re: Lenovo X1 boot crash with HDMI cable attached and laptop lid closed
Hi, I think what I experience on my Thinkpad T460s might be the same bug. I do not have a dock but if I boot with an HDMI cable attached I get stuck after grub - at the screen with the Lenovo logo and a spinner. This only happens, if I choose "Single Display" in the displays setting, using only the external screen attached via HDMI (i.e. the thinkpad screen is off, even though the lid is not closed). If instead I use "Join Displays", where both screens are on, I can boot with the HDMI cable attached. The problem appeared after upgrading from 19.10. I only have built-in graphics (Intel Corporation Skylake GT2 [HD Graphics 520]). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876741 Title: Lenovo X1 boot crash with HDMI cable attached and laptop lid closed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1876741/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1876741] Re: Lenovo X1 boot crash with HDMI cable attached and laptop lid closed
Hi Raoul, yes, your probably right it is not exactly the same. I overlooked in your initial post that the problem happened before grub and the title sounds so much like my problem. I think I assumed from here > if something is attached to thunderbolt, no way to see even grub, if nothing is attached (and LID is closed) then I see grub loading on the external monitor but I don't get GDM. that you also had a problem after grub that is not associated with the thunderbolt issue. Thanks for your suggestions, I quickly tried both of them. Uninstalling xserver-xorg-video-intel did not solve it, but if I boot without "quiet splash" I can get to the login screen and login normally even though the HDMI cable is attached. I first see some log lines from the booting process on the screen, as expected, but the page with the Lenovo logo and Spinner does not come up and I just get to the login screen.
