[Bug 463010] Re: HP HDX16 failure to suspend/hibernate
I also have the identical problem with an older HP 8510w laptop running Ubuntu Desktop 9.10. Suspend or hibernate will lock the system up completely. [Bug 410407] Re: [READ DESCRIPTION] Flash is not recognizing mouse clicks in multiple situations
Same problem in the wmii window manager. So it's not Compiz per se, but could be compositing in Xorg since I do have that enabled for times when I do log in with Gnome/Metacity or Emerald. -- [READ DESCRIPTION] Flash is not recognizing mouse clicks in multiple situations https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410407 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 463010] Re: HP HDX16 failure to suspend/hibernate
I've accidentally discovered something new. I rebooted the HP HDX16 laptop the other day but did not log in. The system was left at the GDM login screen. I needed to disconnect it from wall power and the network and carry it to another room, so I closed the lid. The computer suspended automatically (the HP logo light turned off and only the power light was blinking to indicate suspend mode) since it wasn't logged into my account where I've disabled suspend on closing the lid. I feared the worst and didn't expect the system to come back as usual. However, when I opened the lid (can't remember if I pressed a key or not) the system came back up fully. I then logged in and tried to suspend from the menu in my account and the system again locked up. Might the lockups have something to do with the Gnome session? I'm using Compiz. I'll have to try it with a different WM to see if there is a difference. After that, I'll report my findings back here. -- HP HDX16 failure to suspend/hibernate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/463010 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 463010] [NEW] suspend/resume failure in Karmic RC (kernel 2.6.31-9-rt)
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu Studio on an HP HDX16 laptop. Suspend isn't working. When I suspend, the laptop screen goes black but still backlit and I get a blinking underscore cursor. Pressing power doesn't bring it back and neither does pressing any key, mouse button, etc... The only option I have is to hold the power button in for the requisite 4 seconds for the system to power off. uname out: Linux hdx16t 2.6.31-9-rt #152-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT RT Thu Oct 15 13:22:24 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux lspci out: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub (rev 07) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset PCI Express Graphics Port (rev 07) 00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 03) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 03) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 03) 00:1c.5 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) PCI Express Port 6 (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #6 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev 93) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation ICH9M LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation ICH9M/M-E SATA AHCI Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.6 Signal processing controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) Thermal Subsystem (rev 03) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G96 [GeForce 9600M GT] (rev a1) 02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN [Shiloh] Network Connection 03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. [Bug 463010] Re: suspend/resume failure in Karmic RC (kernel 2.6.31-9-rt)
I am seeing the same behavior with the new kernel: Linux hdx16t 2.6.31-9-rt #152-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT RT Thu Oct 15 13:22:24 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux What log files should I append? dmesg, pm-suspend.log? By the way, pm- suspend.log claims that suspend was successful even though I couldn't bring the system back to a running state. All LEDs that indicate power is fully on, and the screen backlight + blinking _ cursor were all active even though no KB/mouse or power switch presses did anything. Again, the only recourse was to hold the power button in for 4 secs and then cold boot. -- suspend/resume failure in Karmic RC (kernel 2.6.31-9-rt) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/463010 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
