[Bug 19767] Re: Kde help search fails too quietly if htdig is not installed
I see the problem is that htdig is not supported and maintained, yet to properly work, khelpcenter should depend on it. I don't think Kubuntu should depend on something unmaintained, but I think it is detrimental to Ubuntu to expose a feature that is non-functionnal. I think the middle ground would be completely disabling the search feature if it cannot work, saying htdig should be installed. Woah, it's been a while. I'm not running Gutsy at the moment. I've decided not to upgrade before the official release, for various reasons. BUT, I can confirm this still happens on Feisty. I started artsd and esd the same way, and ended up with the same symptom of artsd being blocked. When tested with mplayer -ao, sound play through esd, but not through artsd. Last night I tested with arts 1.5.7 and esd 0.2.38, the versions that are currently in Gutsy. The same problem happens. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: germinate I use Germinate at work to produce CDs for product based on the Ubuntu Gutsy distribution. I use two repositories for that, a main repository, and a development repository, which may hold package that will replace some other package in the main repository. CDs can be produced from the main repository. The CD list is generated from Germinate output on the main repository. [Bug 501192] [NEW] ignores x-terminal-emulator
Public bug reported: The GIO sublibrary in GLib has a function called prepend_terminal_to_vector, which prepare a command line by prepending it with a valid X terminal name before executing it. The function as distributed in Glib first search for gnome-terminal before trying several well-known terminal application. I believe this is not acceptable in a distribution like Ubuntu, which supports the x-terminal-emulator alternative to set the preferred terminal to the user. As it is right now, gnome-panel simply ignores the chosen x-terminal-emulator as well as the GNOME preferred terminal application (and that is another bug!)
