2014-02-20 Thread Eugene Rodriguez
Phillip Susi,
I never knowingly edited grub. This was a new install of a RAID1 system.
Could setting that up have altered grub?

Re: [Bug 1392541] Re: Directions for removing advertising from Dash do n't work.

2014-11-13 Thread Eugene Rodriguez
Doug,

Yes, that is the section I am referring to:
"Turn off online search results
If you don't want to receive online search suggestions, you can disable this
feature.
Click the icon at the far right of the menu bar and select System Settings.
Open Security & Privacy and select the Search tab.
Switch off Include online search results.
Log out and log back in for the change to take effect."

And, Yes, I do not have a Security and Privacy item in my System
Settings.

Are you referring to the page called "Why are there shopping links in
the dash?" If not, please give us the exact page your are referring to.

See the attached screen shot. Are you saying you do not have what is
shown there?

Re: [Bug 1392541] Re: Directions for removing advertising from Dash do n't work.

2014-11-13 Thread Eugene Rodriguez
No change noted. Response:
"ubuntu-desktop is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 3 not upgraded."

Should I remove ubuntu-desktop first (didn't do because not sure if this
would cause problems)?

Then there is something wrong with your system, not with the docs. Can
you please open a terminal window, run the command

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

and let us know if you notice a change?

Perhaps try this:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-desktop

I did on my 14.04 VM just now without any issues.

If that doesn't work try this:

sudo apt-get install unity-control-center

and if that doesn't work, we will consider converting this bug report to
a question, to get more eyes on it.

Thank you for your bug report, does it happen all the time? Can you use
the indicators on the top right of the screen? can you take a screenshot
of the screen when you log in?
