[Bug 281633] [NEW] Can't burn/erase cd using brasero

[Bug 281715] [NEW] Sometime the sent mail are not erased in the outbox folder

2008-10-11 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

I have a an IMAP email account, configured to put sent email in the IMAP
remote inbox folder. Sometimes, evolution complains it can not move the
sent emails in the inbox folder, and put them in the local sent folder.
The outbox folder is empty.

The next time I launch evolution, some sent emails are back in the
outbox folder, waiting to be resent (which happens sometimes if I don't
pay attention).

I'm not 100% sure the move to remote inbox folder issue and the
reapparition of the email in the outbox folder are related.

2008-10-24 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Ahem, stay calm, please...

As a user, I don't know where is exactly the issue. During the life of
this bug, the affected package list growned from compiz, to compiz +
gnome-system-monitor + human-theme. May be compiz does the right thing,
may be not, I don't know.

But the issue is still there: the gnome-system-monitor window is semi-
transparent, when all other application windows are not. It's simply not
consistent, and makes the text harder to read.

[Bug 274461] [NEW] gnome-system-monitor window is semi-transparent when using compiz

2008-09-25 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

When desktop effects are enabled, the gnome-system-monitor window is
semi-transparent, showing what's behind.

I've tried to adjust the window transparency using the compiz tool
(ALT+Button4 or Button5), but without success. With it, it's possible to
make the window completely transparent, but not completely opaque.

It's on ubuntu Intrepid, with the latest package installed.

I beg to disagree. Ubuntu used to provide a functionality that is now
removed. If upstream introduces a bug, the ubuntu project shoudl try to
fix it, either by fixiing upstream, or in this case, by providing an
application that provides the same functionality.

[Bug 269302] [NEW] At the GDM scree, Dell 610 laptop screen remains on while on a docking station and with an external screen connected

2008-09-12 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

On the GDM login screen, when my laptop is connected to the docking
station with an external screen, the laptop screen remains on. Also, the
resolution on the external screen is too low. Fortunately, when I log
in, the laptop screen switches off, and the external output is set to
the correct native resolution of the external screen (after an annoying
sequence of 6 switch on/off of the external output).

[Bug 269309] [NEW] xserver freeze when desktop effects are enabled

2008-09-12 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

If I enable the desktop effects, it looks like something bad happens
when the screen saver becomes active. The screen goes black (which is
what's expected, since i don't have any screen saver animation enabled),
but then I'm unable to get out of the screensaver. Moving the mouse or
pressing a key does nothing, and I'm not even able to switch to the text
console.

[Bug 269315] [NEW] The time date applet should use the time date system config dialog

2008-09-12 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When selecting "set date and time" in the date time applet, we should
use the control center date time dialog.

Main benefits:

 - consistency
 - when the system is set to use a ntp server, and a connection is active, the
user should not change the time.

[Bug 54779] Keyring password

[Bug 54779] Re: Keyring password

2006-08-01 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
I don't mind if evolution is using gnome-keyring.

Issue is until now, evolution never asked for a keyring passwd, and suddenly
ask for one.
The good thing is I've figured out which passwd it asked, and remembered its
value...

But now, I would like to have the previous behaviour back, i.e. no
passwd when launching evolution, and it's not easy to find how to
achieve that.

So issues are:

  - unwanted change in evolution behaviour (new passwd dialog).
  - no hint about where to change/remove this password.

Regarding gnome-keyring-manager itself, I did'nt find a way to change
this password, but that's not an issue related to evolution.

[Bug 56610] Automatic search from address entry doesn't work anymore

2006-08-16 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm used to be able to perform a google search by entering keywords
directly from the address entry. Since upgrade to firefox 2.0b, it
doesn't work anymore. I've go the following error message: "The URL is
not valid and cannot be loaded.".

My keyword settings are (about:config):

keyword.URL = http://www.google.fr/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=
keyword.enabled = true

With the same settings, it works fine in firefox.

I have the same issue on my two machines: a custom AMD 2.8 GHz desktop
box with an ATI radeon rv 100 card and a Dell D610 laptop with an intel

These two machines run edgy and this issue appears with edgy.

The desktop box switch from dapper to edgy was done some months ago.
I've upgraded the latop from dapper to edgy yesterday.

[Bug 50785] Re: Wont suspend (or hibernate), won't say why, and is annoying.

2006-10-18 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
I have the same issue here on a Dell D610 laptop, running edgy, upgraded
from a dapper installation yesterday.

It looks like suspend and hibernate works fine from gdm, but i'ts not
possible to got to suspend/hibernate mode from gnome-power-manager, or
from the logout dialog.

Selecting suspend/hibernate just makes lock screen appear, without even
an info baloon explaining it failed.

It seems to be a user right issue, but as tz said, I was not able to
find a way to solve that.

[Bug 147107] Issue with xv after return from suspend

2007-09-30 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Using xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.1.1-0ubuntu4, desktop effects
enabled.

After a reboot, totem with xv sink works fine.
But after a suspend, there's two issues:

 * Video in totem doesn't work (black window).
 * After a number of totem session, X freezes on totem quit.

Everything works fine with the i810 driver.

[Bug 192358] Re: Tooltips are not a user manual

2008-02-16 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
« The intend is to make easier for users to discover those feature, the
tooltip is not optimal and we have been discussing this. »

My take on this one would be:

- people that interract with the desktop mostly using the mouse will discover
the mouse features by themselves.
- I think people that want to use keyboard shortcuts have been used to search
them. And the shortcuts can be found either by reading the user manual which is
available directly using the popup menu, or by using the keyboard shortcut
dialog in system->preferences.

So I don't think we really need to add yet another way to discover the
features. But that's only my opinion, not the result of a usability
study :)

« We are considering using the context menu to list those actions, what
do you think about that? »

That would be better, yes. And a way to show the shortcuts that is
consistent the the regular application menus.

Ok, so the correct sentence is:

- people that interract with the desktop mostly using the mouse will
discover the enabled mouse features by themselves.

You don't suggest to put a line in tooltips or context menus for every
disabled features, do you ?

[Bug 137688] xchat doesn't remember "minimize to tray" setting

2007-09-05 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat

The first time you click on the xchat window close button, there's a
dialog asking what to do (close, minimize...) and a checkbox that should
make xchat remember the user choice. But if you quit xchat, and you
click on the close button, the dialog appears again, even if you've
choosen remember.

I think xchat should remember (if asked to) the close button behaviour

[Bug 197651] [NEW] Compiz doesn't work with an ATI rv100 board by default, while it could

2008-03-02 Thread Emmanuel Pacaud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

I was able to enable compiz using a RV100 ATI board, with the free
radeon driver, by modifying the X server configuration.

Before, compiz failed with the following error:

Comparing resolution (1280x1024) to maximum 3D texture size (1024):
Failed

Now it passes (but I don't know which parameter makes it pass).

Here's my current working configuration file. The result is a perfectly
running compiz, and it runs fast as long as I use a 16 bit display. Only
fullscreen scrolling of web pages inside epiphany are a bit slower than
with compiz disabled, but that's acceptable.
