[Bug 223065] Re: Typing a file extension when saving should results in double extension (eg .doc.odt)
I hadn't noticed that so I guess it is a bit more complicated. But still, for it to just chuck on a .odt extension and save it in OpenOffice format is not the best response to the situation. It could ask me which .doc format I wanted, or it could at least warn me that I seem to have typed an extension that doesn't match with the selected file format. -- Typing a file extension when saving should results in double extension (eg .doc.odt) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223065 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 243404] [NEW] Restart Required dialog doesn't say what the Yes/No buttons do
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-notifier Hi, I'm running Kubuntu 8.04. When I complete an update that requires a reboot, I see the little icon. I click on it, and I get a dialog that says "In order to complete the update your system needs to be restarted." and then it has a Yes No button. Now I assume that Yes means, "yes reboot my system now", and No, means I'll reboot later, but it doesn't actually tell me that - from just reading the dialog I don't really know what it means. Perhaps the dialog should have a second sentence: "Do you want to restart your system now?" (Also the title of the dialog doesn't seem correct - "Restart Require", surely correct grammar would be Restart Required.) [Bug 139812] Re: knetworkmanager can't acquire dhcp address on wep network
I can confirm this with a Broadcom adapter in Hardy: # cat /etc/issue Ubuntu 8.04 \n \l # lspci | grep Wireless 06:06.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) Because of the difficulty in getting this card to work in previous releases, I (and by the looks of the forums many others) take this to mean that the wireless driver is not working - took me sometime to hone in on the real cause and how easy it was to fix. [Bug 55039] Compaq Presario M2000 Card Reader doesn't work after hibernate
Public bug reported: I'm running Kubuntu Dapper. After booting, if I put an SD card into the flash slot on the laptop, the media is detected (the light near it flashes) and I'm asked by the KDE Media popup if I want to mount it. If I do mount it, I can read it fine. After hibernating and powering back on, inserting media into the slot no longer works - the light does not flash, dmesg reveals no messages in response to the flash card being inserted, and the popup does not appear. I've found that I can correct the problem by doing the follow after I return from a hibernate: sudo rmmod sdhci sudo rmmod mmc_core sudo modprobe sdhci After reloading those modules, plugging in the flash card again results in the popup prompting for a mount and the mount works and I can read photos again. To recreate: 1. Boot up the laptop 2. Hibernate 3. Power on and wait for the laptop to return from hibernate 4. Plug in the flash memory to the memory slot Result: Nothing happens - the flash card does not appear to be detected. Expected Result: KDE Popup asking me if I want to open the card in a new window. [Bug 223065] [NEW] Typing a file extension when saving should results in double extension (eg .doc.odt)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org Description:Ubuntu 7.04 Release:7.04 I am using OpenOffice under Kubuntu, so it is using the KDE file save dialog (if that's relevant) I usually save my OpenOffice documents in the native odt/ods format, but occasionally I will need to create one that's in doc/xls format. When I save, I usually just type the filename and hit enter, so for other formats I'd usually just hit +, type in my filename including extension and hit enter. Of course, later, I come back and discover that my file is actually still in OpenOffice format and has been saved as .doc.odt (or .xls.ods) It seems to me that it would be more intuitive if OpenOffice would recognise that I've typed an extension for an alternative file format it can save as, and save as that file format. To reproduce: (this assumes that your install of openoffice defaults to saving in the OpenDocument format) 1. Create a new document. 2. Press + (to get the save dialog) 3. Type "mydocument.doc" and press enter. What happens: Your document is saved as OpenDocument Text format as "mydocument.doc.odt" What should happen: The document should be saved as a Microsoft Word document, named "mydocument.doc" (obviously this is a wishlist bug) ** Affects: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Typing a file extension when saving should results in double extension (eg .doc.odt) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223065 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

"dmesg | grep -i flash" gives: 06:09.3 Mass storage controller: Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Integrated FlashMedia Controller Output of lsmod Module Size Used by usb_storage75072 0 libusual 17040 1 usb_storage sdhci 20108 0 tifm_7xx1 9472 0 tifm_sd10884 0 mmc_core 32136 2 sdhci,tifm_sd tifm_core 10496 2 tifm_7xx1,tifm_sd ehci_hcd 34696 0 uhci_hcd 24968 0 battery11652 0 ac 6788 0 thermal15624 0 processor 31560 1 thermal fan 6020 0 button 7952 0 bcm43xx 127252 0 ieee80211softmac 33792 1 bcm43xx ieee80211 35272 2 bcm43xx,ieee80211softmac ieee80211_crypt 7552 1 ieee80211 8139too29056 0 nls_iso8859_1 5248 0 sg 37404 0 sd_mod 22656 0 snd_rtctimer4364 1 snd_seq_dummy 4996 0 snd_seq_oss36480 0 snd_seq_midi9984 0 snd_rawmidi27264 1 snd_seq_midi snd_seq_midi_event 8960 2 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi snd_seq59120 7 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event snd_seq_device 9868 5 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq nls_utf83200 0 vfat 14720 0 fat56348 1 vfat nls_cp437 6912 1 isofs 38076 1 udf89348 0 rfcomm 42260 0 l2cap 27136 5 rfcomm bluetooth 53476 4 rfcomm,l2cap cpufreq_userspace 5408 0 cpufreq_stats 7744 0 freq_table 6048 1 cpufreq_stats cpufreq_powersave 2944 0 cpufreq_ondemand8876 0 cpufreq_conservative 8712 0 video 17540 0 tc1100_wmi 8324 0 sony_acpi 6412 0 sbs16804 0 pcc_acpi 14080 0 i2c_ec 6272 1 sbs i2c_core 23424 1 i2c_ec hotkey 11556 0 dev_acpi 12292 0 container 5632 0 asus_acpi 17688 0 ipv6 272288 16 af_packet 24584 4 sbp2 24584 0 scsi_mod 144648 4 usb_storage,sg,sd_mod,sbp2 parport_pc 37796 0 lp 12964 0 parport39496 2 parport_pc,lp pcmcia 40380 0 yenta_socket 28812 1 rsrc_nonstatic 15360 1 yenta_socket pcmcia_core43924 3 pcmcia,yenta_socket,rsrc_nonstatic 8139cp 24832 0 mii 6912 2 8139too,8139cp joydev 11200 0 tsdev 9152 0 snd_intel8x0 34844 2 snd_ac97_codec 97696 1 snd_intel8x0 snd_ac97_bus3456 1 snd_ac97_codec snd_pcm_oss47360 0 snd_mixer_oss 19584 1 snd_pcm_oss evdev 11392 2 snd_pcm84612 3 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss snd_timer 25348 3 snd_rtctimer,snd_seq,snd_pcm snd58372 15 snd_seq_oss,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer soundcore 11232 1 snd snd_page_alloc 11400 2 snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm psmouse41352 0 serio_raw 8452 0 ext3 142728 3 jbd62228 1 ext3 ohci1394 37040 0 ieee1394 306104 2 sbp2,ohci1394 usbcore 134912 5 usb_storage,libusual,ehci_hcd,uhci_hcd ide_generic 2432 0 ide_cd 33696 1 cdrom 38944 1 ide_cd ide_disk 18560 5 piix 11780 1 generic 5764 0 fbcon 41504 0 tileblit3840 1 fbcon font9344 1 fbcon bitblit 7168 1 fbcon softcursor 3328 1 bitblit vesafb 9244 0 capability 5896 0 commoncap 8704 1 capability ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- ti
