We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. Public bug reported: System freezes when I attempt to copy large files between 2 internal ext4 formatted sata drives. I get the same freeze whether in gnome, a root shell via the rescue boot option, or booting the server version. This crash is repeatable; attempts to copy a large, say a 40 GB directory from one drive to the other will crash the system. I booted Knoppix 6.2.1 and I can successfully copy the files I was attempting in Ubuntu, so clearly the problem resides in Ubuntu 10.4. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You can login with your Launchpad ID (Open ID) to Launchpad.net, UbuntuForums.org and wiki.ubuntu.com. I'm using chromium and the name is not empty, so you'll never save a file ".extension".
