[Bug 375980] [NEW] (xbmc PPA) sdl thread handling broken on amd64

2009-05-13 Thread Disconnect
Public bug reported:

Audio options overlay causes immediate segfaults in xbmc due to a 64bit
bug in SDL. The attached patch works around it for 64bit builds (and
should compile out to nothing on 32bit)

XBMC bug report: http://xbmc.org/trac/ticket/6145 (ignore the arguing)
SDL bug report: http://bugzilla.libsdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=741

(Filing as an "I don't know" bug - hopefully there is a way to get it
tracked in the xbmc team PPA at https://bugs.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc)

[Bug 495505] [NEW] server.number reports 6.0.0.0 not 6.0.X.0

2009-12-11 Thread Disconnect

Upstream tomcat6 server properties is:

server.info=Apache Tomcat/6.0.18

[Bug 457283] Re: x86_64 images should be presented a /dev/sdb, not a /dev/sda2

2010-01-29 Thread Disconnect
Disagree on priority - that assumes that only ubuntu karmic (or later)
images will ever be used, and breaks compatibility with every other
ec2-compatible image out there. (And not breaks like "annoyingly the
hostname is 172 & everything works fine", but actual "firstboot scripts
will fail, dogs and cats living together, twinkie 35 feet long" broken.)

[Bug 475354] Re: Hostname not set correctly on UEC cloud due to IP address in local-hostname manifest data

2010-01-29 Thread Disconnect
For those of us who aren't Dan, why would you solve an ec2
incompatibility with a distribution-specific workaround? Seems like
either a dns lookup (at startup and cached?) or a simple iterator
mapping ("Hostname format: cloud-$1-$2-$3-$4.foo.com" for example) would
be a proper fix.

[Bug 475354] Re: Hostname not set correctly on UEC cloud due to IP address in local-hostname manifest data (DNS)

2010-02-04 Thread Disconnect
Any time you say "the images should work around..", that means that
UEC's EC2 compatibility is -broken-. UEC should return a text hostname
(ip-a-b-c-d? instancename? no-dns-you-loser.euca-a-b-c-d? whatever.) in
the hostname field. Regardless of configuration. The spec you are
claiming compatibility with -insists- on that.

The iterator would be nice (that is what we would have used in our
installation), or even a sprintf-style configurator, but that is
(reasonably) a wishlist request.

"We put numbers where the spec -requires- text" IS A BUG.

[Bug 1510196] Re: OOM killer causes complete system freezes

2017-01-27 Thread Disconnect
We're also hitting it more often then not on several up to date 14.04.5
systems. (AWS c4.large instances running python scripts via supervisor.)

About 1 OOM event in 3 fires successfully, kills the process and
continues on. For the others, the console indicates an OOM kill but
cpu/disk spikes and it becomes completely unresponsive. (Nothing is
logged to disk.)

What further information can we add to help get this resolved?

[Bug 701944] [NEW] snmpd postinst fails if user cannot be deleted

Public bug reported:

We use ldap authentication, so deluser fails (correctly, as I don't want
packages wandering around screwing up global user/group entries.)

Removing the deluser/adduser block from the postinst (leaving the chown

[Bug 662638] [NEW] Postinst fails if webapps/ROOT is a symlink

2010-10-18 Thread Disconnect
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomcat6

Ubuntu Lucid, amd64, tomcat6 6.0.24-2ubuntu1.4

For historic reasons, we have /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/ROOT as a symlink
into the deployed application. During postinst, dpkg fails:

Setting up tomcat6 (6.0.24-2ubuntu1.4) ...
cp: cannot overwrite non-directory `/var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/ROOT' with
directory `/usr/share/tomcat6/webapps/default_root'
dpkg: error processing tomcat6 (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 tomcat6

Unless there is a policy reason, I would expect the postinst to ignore
changes in /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps, especially since it is not listed
as part of the package upstream/static files (dpkg -L tomcat6 | grep
ROOT - no results)

[Bug 611721] [NEW] postinst fails if group exists

2010-07-30 Thread Disconnect
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomcat6

In cases where the tomcat6 group already exists (eg ldap), the postinst fails
due to running addgroup blindly.
Commenting out the addgroup works fine, although that isn't a generic fix.

> addgroup --system "$TOMCAT6_GROUP" --quiet
> if ! id $TOMCAT6_USER > /dev/null 2>&1 ; then

(I had a better bug report with more detail, but the "no referrer" error
ate it. Lovely..)

** Affects: tomcat6 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 611721] Re: postinst fails if group exists

2010-08-12 Thread Disconnect
Lucid, up to date with security patches (and sun-java, not that it
matters for this.)

I suspect the difference is ldap authentication vs local groups. (In
fact, I just tested against a group that it is in both /etc/group and in
ldap and it returned 0.)

That may make this an adduser bug..
