[Bug 1733140] [NEW] Can't disable ipv6 on wlan
Public bug reported: Just updated to Ubuntu 17.10. Trying to disable ipv6 on my wifi connections using network manager applet (Ubuntu settings). Only place possible to do so via GUI seems to be on each wifi connection's setting, under IPV6 tab. However, disabling has no effect. ifconfig shows: wlp2s0: flags=4163 mtu 1500 inet 192.168.16.112 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.16.255 inet6 fe80::72f1:a1ff:fede:d52c prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x20 ether 70:f1:a1:de:d5:2c txqueuelen 1000 (Ethernet) RX packets 1043487 bytes 1340522830 (1.3 GB) RX errors 0 dropped 1 overruns 0 frame 0 TX packets 714065 bytes 248361872 (248.3 MB) TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0 Tried on different APs to the same effect. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1733140 Title: Can't disable ipv6 on wlan To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1733140/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Possibly related to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=858070 Am seeing similar behavior, cannot remove the address manually on CLI using ip addr del or ifconfig either. Same error (RTNETLINK answers: Cannot assign requested address) ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #858070 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=858070 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1733140 Title: Can't disable ipv6 on wlan To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1733140/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1733140] Re: Can't disable ipv6 on wlan
Determined I'm not smart enough about ipv6, and that you can't delete link local addresses. Blush.
