[Bug 390298] Re: Please sync wicd 1.6.1-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

2009-06-22 Thread David Paleino
Please, sync the 1.6.1-3 I'm just uploading to Debian.
In 1.6.1-1 there are some packaging bugs within Debconf, in 1.6.1-2 I added a
typofix by upstream which made wicd-curses crash on certain occasions, and
1.6.1-3 (just uploaded to Debian, so available in some time, hopefully) I
finally fixed netdev management and debconf recovery from broken versions.

Kindly,
David

Ah, I see. Well, at least Debian users are having resolvconf on 1.5.9 now ;), I
will take a look at 1.6 code ASAP -- but I should just familiarize a bit with
it before.

[Bug 263774] Re: disk-manager crashed with SystemError in __init__()

2008-09-11 Thread David Paleino
Hi,
I'm the Debian maintainer of disk-manager, and I haven't been able to reproduce
this bug with the Debian package. Would you please try to install that one, and
see if it still happens?

The package is available at:

http://packages.debian.org/sid/all/disk-manager/download

After you download the package, install it with:

$ sudo dpkg -i disk-manager_*.deb

Please let me know -- this might be a hidden bug, or an Ubuntu-specific
bug.

Kindly,
David

[Bug 194036] Re: [patch] option to crack passwords by group

2008-06-17 Thread David Paleino
Hi Fabian,
I'm the Debian maintainer of john, and have included your changes in 1.7.2-4.
Next time, please provide a clean patch (the first one you attached was full of
tabs/whitespace changes, and it was hard to find the _real_ patch...)
As soon as this package is uploaded to Debian, you should request a sync for
john (it will also close LP#116890).

Regards,
David

[Bug 48433] Re: compilation fails due to missing dependency

2008-06-17 Thread David Paleino
Hi,
I'm the Debian maintainer of greenwich. Debian's 0.8.2-4 *does* have a
dependency on the missing library:

$ apt-cache show greenwich | grep ^Depends
Depends: whois, perl, perl (>= 5.8) | liblocale-maketext-perl, libgnome2-perl,
libgtk2-perl, libgnome2-gconf-perl, libgtk2-gladexml-perl
$

(i.e. libgtk2-gladexml-perl).

Please ask for a sync from Debian/unstable (I don't really know how to
do it...)

- forcibly reload dbus upon installation or removal

  [ Bernd Zeimetz ]
  * debian/rules:
- run dh_pysupport before dh_installinit, so Python modules will be

  modules are installed in the private module directory properly
  (Closes: #510462).

Please sync splashy 0.3.13-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

Changelog since current jaunty version 0.3.12-1:

splashy (0.3.13-1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Luis Mondesi ]
  * New upstream release:
- Fix KDM doesn't display login screen when splashy is enabled.
  (Closes: #465729)
- Wait for all gdm servers to exit. Splashy tries chvt 8 before gdm has
  finished, stalls shutdown. Thanks to Tim Richardson. (Closes: #504389)
- When using fonts, try the full path it looks like we were never using
  the font supplied by the theme. this fixes this problem by building
  a path to the full file. (Closes: #505270)
- Set SPL_PRG before using it. It fixes a bug with mysqld when upgrading
  mysql-server-5.0, restarting the service halts the update process with
  an error: SPL_PRG unbound variable. (Closes: # 509025)
  * Remove 01_fix_themes_path patch. Merged upstream.
  * debian/control:
- Add conficts against desktop-base (<< 5.0.2). (Closes: #506057)
  * debian/splashy.preinst:
- Move /etc/splashy/themes to /etc/splashy/themes.old . (Closes: #503566)
  We introduced a preinst stage that will move /etc/splashy/themes out of
  the way to /etc/splashy/themes.old. The user would need to dig into this
  directory to manually copy any customized themes
  into /usr/share/splashy/themes. Sorry about this but this seems to be
  the best way to avoid pissing too many people off (or loosing data).
  Note that if Splashy is removed/purged, this themes.old directory will
  be removed also.
  * debian/splashy.prerm:
- Remove it. deprecated.

  [ Fathi Boudra]
  * Fix lintian warning: debhelper-but-no-misc-depends.

Then you're clearly not sourcing bash completion.

Please add the following line to your ~/.bashrc:

Maybe the package? ;)

This is a user-problem, not code-related. He probably didn't
source /etc/bash_completion -- that's why I asked to write the value of those
two environment variables ;)

But, well, don't worry :) -- users come first.

[Bug 115526] Re: Gnome-RDP couldn't handle saved password for VNC connections

2008-06-16 Thread David Paleino
I'm the Debian maintainer of gnome-rdp, and now also part of upstream
development.
We're now working on getting a newer version out, since gnome-rdp has rapidly
changed two (or maybe three) maintainers, its code became unmaintained/messy.
Now, we're two working on it. I hope we'll get something out very soon, but
please don't add useless discrepancies between Debian and Ubuntu. If you want,
sync with 0.2.2-3, which is present in Debian, but *please*, don't package
0.2.2.3 (or any other upstream version, since we're at 0.2.2.9 by now, but it's
not usable) by yourself.

Well, this is just a suggestion, and I'm not involved with Ubuntu. So,
in the end, do whatever you feel.

Regards,
David

This is _NOT_ a bug in bash-completion. That "Gives me nothing" means
that you're not sourcing it. Please read the docs on how to enable it,
most notably sourcing it from ~/.bashrc (or similar startup files).

This rather would be a bug in bash, not sourcing bash-completion by
default in /etc/skel/.bashrc.

[Bug 530722] Re: Wide character in print at /usr/share/perl5/ClamTk/Prefs.pm line 151.

2010-03-03 Thread David Paleino
This is totally unrelated with the .desktop file, as already discussed
with upstream. The perl code uses:

open(my $F, ">", "path");

instead of the more correct:

open(my $F, ">:encoding(UTF-8"; "path");

This should hopefully be fixed in the next release.

[Bug 678283] Re: Sync python-pyproj 1.8.8-1 (universe) from Debian experimental (main)

2010-12-06 Thread David Paleino
Colin, I was waiting for some kind of ACK :-)

Just uploaded 1.8.8-2 to experimental. I merged all Ubuntu's changelog,
apart from the last entry by doko -- it was just a rebuild, and would've
been in the middle of other Debian revisions with a greater version. I
skipped it so that I don't inadvertently break any external tool :-)
(and it didn't give any useful information to end users either).

Here's the additional changelog entry (apart from older Ubuntu ones):

python-pyproj (1.8.8-2) experimental; urgency=low

  * Upload to ease sync to Ubuntu
  * debian/changelog: merged Ubuntu's "pyproj" changelog

I'm currently working on updating JOSM on Debian; and I've noticed the
copyright file was outdated. The version in experimental still contains
wrong information; but I'm working on it, don't worry :)

[Bug 979221] Re: priv escalation exploit for wicd possible

2012-04-30 Thread David Paleino
Please explain better.

That revision really fixes it in a more general way: without "=", spaces
or newlines, you can't do much harm. Sure, you can write arbitrary
values in the config file, but still nothing that would get executed.

[Bug 1084380] Re: wicd wrongly and repeatedly reports BAD PASSWORD error

2012-11-29 Thread David Paleino
Hello,

it would've been much more useful if you attached your wicd.log to the
bugreport; instead of writing an essay.

The "bad password" message might be misleading, but it means that
wpa_supplicant failed. You should have a line like "connect result is
failed" in your log to testify that.

Hello,

would you please mind sending a log after enabling debug mode? You can
do it via the GUI, or edit /etc/wicd/manager-settings.conf and change
debug_mode to 1.

Thanks,

[Bug 1084380] Re: wicd wrongly and repeatedly reports BAD PASSWORD error

2012-12-20 Thread David Paleino
Jason: I'll make sure I'll add that command, just to be on the safe
side.

Leo: it seems to be like a problem in wpa_supplicant really: as you can
see, when the connection succeeds you have "WPA_CLI RESULT IS
COMPLETED", while you don't have that in all other cases.

I guess wpa_supplicant it's taking more time than usual to finish
association.

You could try increasing the time it tries -- it's currently set to 35
seconds. Open wicd/wnettools.py, and look for MAX_TIME, and set it to,
say, 60. If that solves the issue (i.e. you find a "WPA_CLI RESULT IS
COMPLETED" in the log), then we need to find out why wpa_supplicant
takes so long to complete (and maybe it could be a good idea letting the
user set that timeout from the GUIs).

Thanks for your collaboration,
David

[Bug 817749] Re: josm is in the wrong category in the Software Centre

2011-08-23 Thread David Paleino
This is not a bug in JOSM.

JOSM is listed in the correct categories, which are Education AND
Geography. The available categories are listed at
http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/latest/apa.html .

This smells much like a USC bug, but, given I don't use Ubuntu, I'll
leave to other people dealing with this bug.

However, it is NOT a bug in JOSM :)

Kindly,
David

[Bug 817749] Re: josm is in the wrong category in the Software Centre

2011-08-23 Thread David Paleino
Please don't play bug ping-pong.

I'm not going to change it in Debian -- "Education" is a parent category
of "Geography", and it should be included.

Citing the freedesktop standard:

"... The list of Main Categories consist of those categories that every
conforming desktop environment MUST support. By including one of these
categories in an application's desktop entry file the application will
be ensured that it will show up in a section of the application menu
dedicated to this category. The list of Additional Categories provides
categories that can be used to provide more fine grained information
about the application. Additional Categories should always be used in
combination with one of the Main Categories. ..."

That means, not everybody is using Gnome, or Unity, or whatever. One
could also use a DE not supporting "Geography", so JOSM must fall inside
"Education".

If there's a bug, it's in USC, since it shouldn't show a software in a
main category, if an "additional category" is listed.

Closing again.
