[Bug 233942] Re: genisoimage generates wrong DVD-Video images
I can confirm issue, somewhat. Mine is with making Data DVD's on Kubuntu 8.04 They play back on other Kubuntu 8.04 systems, but no Windows and not other distro's. I have 1.1.6 wodim and genisoimage. I have been testing with all sorts of user-data files and only in this setup (a boothook AND a script) do I see the shell script not run at all. This is using the the Amazon Ubuntu 12.04.1 AMI (ami-ac4300fe) PS The reason I am at this point is that running "echo myhostname > /etc/hostname" in the boothook sees it overwritten by cloud-init. Even with a line like this in the boothook "sed -i 's/preserve_hostname/preserve_hostname: True/g' /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg" hence I have to add a shell script for this. Thanks. ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1086646 Title: text/x-shellscript doesn't run if text/cloud-boothook present To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1086646/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1086646] Re: text/x-shellscript doesn't run if text/cloud-boothook present
Thanks for the info Scott. To to clarify, I under you can user hostname in a cloud-config, the problem I am solving is for autoscaling launch configuration and needing a common base hostname (for config management purposes and only for humans to identify) but unique amongst them. So the host name I am setting is: prd-myshinnyhostname-ap-southeast-1a-$RANDOM Which I can't see anyway to do in cloud-config unfortunately, otherwise I would stick to use that for this autoscale launch config. I am injecting into /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg to save having to have a cloud-config file at all. Just lazy maybe, but figured it works best with how I am setting the hostname (cloud-config hostname is useless for this use case) So back to the issue, I had the below. The boothook worked but the shell script didn't touch the file in /etc or the test file. (the work around I have for now is to just have a boothook, and the boothook injects into /etc/rc.local the shell script and then adds a line to clean up after it has run so as to have a one-time run of the shell script. Working well) I will try your user-data file and report back. [Bug 711799] Re: e2fsprogs wrongly identifies ext4 as mounted
This seems to me as a bug from upstream that is filtering down through the distro's. Using Ubuntu 10.10 LiveCD's e2fsck from the e2fsprogs package 1,41,12 failed to check an ext4 disk with errors saying the aforementioned error. Using a systemrescuecd-x86-2.1.0 CD's e2fsck from the e2fsprogs package 1.41.14 failed to check an ext4 disk with errors saying the aforementioned error. Using a Slax 6.1.2 CD's e2fsck from the e2fsprogs package 1.41.3 (2008) checked and fixed an ext4 disk with errors. Even though the Slax CD could not mount or do anything with the partition as it does not have ext4 support. Go figure. This leads me to think that this has not been fixed E2fsprogs 1.41.13 (December 13, 2010) states: "Fixed a bug in e2fsck where if both the original and backup superblock are invalid in some way, e2fsck will fail going back to the original superblock because it didn't close the backup superblock first, and the exclusive open prevented the file system from being reopened." Unless Gentoo's e2fsprogs 1.41.14 missed this patch?? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/711799 Title: e2fsprogs wrongly identifies ext4 as mounted -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 711799] Re: e2fsprogs wrongly identifies ext4 as mounted
Thanks for the response Theodore. Yes it was definitely not mounted. I checked /proc/mounts (grep sda1 /proc/mounts), the mount -l command itself and also issued several umount /dev/sda1 to be sure. (I do have 10 years of Linux experience.) The output from e2fsck /dev/sda1 was the same as others are having: e2fsck 1.41.12 (17-May-2010) fsck.ext4: Device or resource busy while trying to open /dev/sda1 Filesystem mounted or opened exclusively by another program? Also got this on the SystemRescueCD: e2fsck 1.41.14 (22-Dec-2010) fsck.ext4: Device or resource busy while trying to open /dev/sda1 Filesystem mounted or opened exclusively by another program? I did a "equery list|grep e2fsprog" on the systemrescueCD to confirm it is ver 1.41.14. Maybe Gentoo has missed your upstream patch for this bug?? I ended up using Slax 6.1.2 with e2fsprogs 1.41.3 to fix the partition and allow the Ubuntu 10.10 system to boot normally. I couldn't delay to do any further testing as it was a laptop of a university Lecturer that had to prepare classes for this week coming (emergency situation). So maybe I found a new, slightly different bug?
