[Bug 377518] [NEW] Samba exits when client connects

2009-05-17 Thread Dave Hope
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 9.10 (x86) with samba 3.3.2 (Version: 2:3.3.2-1ubuntu3).

Samba starts and waits for a client to connect, as soon as I try to
connect samba exists. I have a very basic smb.conf which I'll ad to the
report.

This happens consistently. I've looked through the log files but nothing
really stands out.

[Bug 377518] Re: Samba exits when client connects

2009-05-18 Thread Dave Hope
Sorry, yes. 9.04

The client is an Apple Macbook running OSX (10.5.6) using smbclient
version 3.0.25b-apple

Frustratingly, after a reboot (of the server) I'm now unable to
reproduce this issue. No changes were made other than a reboot. When the
problem occurred the same happened with the stock smb.conf

Since I'm no longer able to reproduce I'm going to change the status to
invalid and close the ticket.

Thanks for taking the time to respond anyway.

[Bug 48792] Re: freezes pc when launched

2006-11-11 Thread Dave Hope
Hello all,

I'm having this exact same problem on a Gigabyte GA-K8NS motherboard
with an AMD Athlon64 3400 processor.

The status of this bug is still at "Needs Info" and has been for a fair
while, could someone let me know what information is required so that I
can get this issue resolved.

Thanks,

Dave

Any tips on how to disable it during install ? - My system dies when
booting off the Install CD (Just as X starts up) Can't figure out a
boot option to disable it.

Simple to disable once install, but with a read only cd i'm stuck :)

Cheers,

This also occurs during the 7.04 install, making it completely unusable.

I believe this is a show-stopper bug for a handful of users, so perhaps
the severity/priority needs to be bumped?

[Bug 488819] Re: gpartedbin crashed when resizing HFS+

2009-11-29 Thread Dave Hope
With the bug marked as a duplicate, nobody else could see it, and the
one the Apport retracing service flagged it as a duplicate of is marked
as private (so again, can't be found).

Can the other bug me made private, or this one? - that way others are
less likely to re-raise this issue.

Hi,

Unfortunately my systems all still run Karmic, so I cant' test in lucid

If someone backports it to Karmic I'll gladly test. When I build 2.2.6

Given 2.2.7 is out now, it's probably worth going straight to that?

[Bug 550787] Re: Computer Janitor freezes during the analysis

2010-05-10 Thread Dave Hope
This also happens for me.

10.04, upgraded from 9.10 i386. System not low on resources.

If someone asks for some specific debug info, I'll do my best to provide
it.

Thanks

I can confirm that when booting the my 9.10 kernel (2.6.31-20-generic)
the problem does not occur. Yet when booting the current Lucid kernel
the black screen occurs.

There seem to be plenty of duplicates of this bug, so I'll refrain from
re-reporting it.

@Pedro - Do the duplicates contain a useful symbol stack trace?

[Bug 531556] Re: [Lucid] Blank Screen after login

2010-03-22 Thread Dave Hope
This also effects me, same symptoms described above.

GDM loads, sound plays. As soon as I login systems locks up, CTRL-ALT-F1
etc don't work, caps lock light doesn't come on etc.

I've tried removing compiz-gnome and restarting GDM (suggested on the
forums) by switching using CTRL-ALT-F1 prior to GDM login but didn't
make any difference.

2009-12-22 Thread Dave Hope
Just reproduced this when trying to help a friend install Ubuntu.

Started with an empty 160GB drive, no partitions listed. Created a Linux
partition and formatted with ext4 but the same problem.

Using installer, `cat /var/log/installer/version` shows ubiquity 2.0.8

fdisk -l is below:

Disk /dev/sda: 163.9 GB, 163928604672 bytes
