[Bug 262393] [NEW] apt is not installed in intrepid

2008-08-28 Thread Christoph Korn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: debootstrap

I created a chroot with this command:
sudo debootstrap --variant=buildd --arch i386 intrepid /var/chroot/intrepid

But after I entered the chroot and typed "apt-get update" it fails:
bash: apt-get: command not found

I think apt should be included into the chroot automatically.

[Bug 334362] [NEW] FeatureFreezeException: Please update sivp 0.5.0 from REVU

2009-02-25 Thread Christoph Korn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: scilab

Please update sivp-0.5.0 from REVU.

I have built the package in this PPA.
https://launchpad.net/~getdeb.packages/+archive/ppa

I will also upload them for REVU after I have the bug id I need.

scilab-5.1 requires the new sivp 0.5.0 package.
It is also in debian but there had to be made some changes which are not in
debian yet.
(The changes come from Sylvestre Ledru who maintains the package in
debian-science)

A description of the proposed changes, with sufficient detail to estimate their
potential impact on the distribution:
- scilab-5.1 requires the new version. scilab has currently an open FFe and is
waiting for jeuclid.

A rationale for the exception, explaining the benefit of the change:
- Hm, also because scilab-5.1 requires it.

[Bug 334362] Re: FeatureFreezeException: Please update sivp 0.5.0 from REVU

2009-02-25 Thread Christoph Korn
I have updated the package because the were som bugs in postinst and
prerm scripts.

The new package is again uploaded to revu [1] and now ready for upload to
jaunty.
I already tested the package in jaunty and it is working. The sivp package
can be loaded inside of scilab. Installation and removal also works great.

I have attached the new debdiff which shows the differences from the debian
package (0.5.0-1) [2] to
my package [1].
The most entries again come from the useless .svn directory which is inside the
debian sources.

I want to repeat that this package requires scilab-5.1 to compile.

[Bug 272264] Re: FeatureFreezeException: Please sync scilab-5.1 (multiverse) from PPA

2009-02-27 Thread Christoph Korn
The package scilab-include is installed by default because some plugins
need the sources.

Is this a problem?

Is anything else wrong with the package?

I just want to be sure it will be accepted when it is in the jaunty new queue.
Also because the developers might have other interests than new packages
after feature freeze. ;-)

While incorporating Scilab into Ubuntu, please change the revision
number to match the one from Debian Science -6 for now.

Sylvestre Ledru is the author of the patches and the debian directory comes
from debian-science.
  http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/debian-science/packages/scilab/trunk/debian/

Following other packages will have to be synced before scilab-5.0.3 can
compile:
- [ ] jeuclid: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/326179
+ [ ] jeuclid: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/334767
  [x] xmlgraphics-common:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xmlgraphics-commons/+bug/326172
  [x] fop: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fop/+bug/326171

Packages marked with [x] are released in jaunty.

A description of the proposed changes, with sufficient detail to estimate
their potential impact on the distribution:
  - scilab-5.1 has many bugs fixed and a completely new user interface.
  - The jeuclid package has to be in jaunty before scilab can be built.

A rationale for the exception, explaining the benefit of the change:
  - scilab-5.1 has many bugs fixed.
  - it has great improvements in speed and compatibility with graphic cards.
  - The new user interface is more user friendly
  - a main reason is: scilab is now free

The sources are available in the PPA and in the REVU request.

[Bug 272264] Re: Ubuntu has very old, not user-friendly Scilab version, 5.0.1 was released on 2008-09

2008-10-17 Thread Christoph Korn
I currently try to package the new 5.0.2 release.

I took the 4.1.2 [1] package as a starting point.

These [2] are the build dependencies.
I had to take the libflexdock-java, libjogl-java,
libjrosetta-java, libmatio0 and libskinlf-java packages
from intrepid because they are not available in hardy.

Finally this [3] is the debian/rules file I used for
creating the package.

After installing and typing "scilab" there just is
a "Segmentation fault".
Nothing more happens.

[Bug 289033] [NEW] Disabling the wallpaper on connection is too slow

2008-10-25 Thread Christoph Korn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vino

OS: Ubuntu intrepid RC amd64
vino version: 2.24.1-0ubuntu1

I have activated the option to disable the wallpaper on connection.
When I try to connect from my notebook (running hardy) to this
intrepid machine then the loading of the first screen takes quite long
because it is loading the wallpaper for the first frame. I can see the
wallpaper for about a second before it get's removed.
The screen loads fluently if I disable the wallpaper in gnome and
then connect. So disabling the wallpaper is just a bit slow.

[Bug 258404] [NEW] nm-applet does not save the WLAN password when configured manually

2008-08-15 Thread Christoph Korn
Public bug reported:

Problem:
I have a wireless network which I have to configure manually (no DHCP).
So I also have to type in the password. (The WLAN is WPA-PSK secured)
http://www.abload.de/img/bildschirmfoto-eigen6oo.png

But this password does not get saved because after reboot I have to type
in the password again.

OS: Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 (i386)

reboot.

But I could not figure out when this happens.

This is the syslog using this command:

I started the log after booting (when showing the login screen) in tty2.
