[Bug 574883] [NEW] Grub doesn't install to partition boot record (PBR)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2 What i wanted to do is to install grub into the PBR to be able to chainload it from the grub menu from the grub in the master boot record. But grub is not installed into PBR, nor by the alternate cd''s installer nor by running the grub-install command with --force-Option from from the runnning system or from the live system. It says bloklists are not recommended, but "installation finished, no error reported". But theres is no bootable Grub then. Choosing the chainload entry in the MBR's Grub shows "Invalid signature". [Bug 503545] [NEW] network manager slowing down internet connection (lucid)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager I experienced network-manager slowing down my internet connection. I connect over ethernet cable to a router as gateway with dhcp. It affects the "looking up for"-period in firefox as well as the page reproduction. What gives me the idea that it could be a problem with network-manager is the fact that after i removed it and configured the connection with static ip in /etc/network/interfaces and the router's ip in /etc/resolv.conf the connection is working with normal and satisfying speed. [Bug 1407763] [NEW] System crash Xubuntu 14.10 on i5-3337U CPU
Public bug reported: System is not running stable, it crashes (freezes) sooner or later. Sometimes with virtual console on screen, saying “not syncing: fatal exception in interrupt drm_kms_helper:: panic occurred, switching back to text console” - sometimes without console appearing. No more input possible (no sysrq), just hard reset. Apparently this is caused by i915 driver. It always happens with applications with a bit higher graphics performance requirements, e.g. watching DVB-T-TV in a little me-tv- or vlc-window and browsing the Internet at the same time. Initially core temperature and fan speed rise, and then follows the exitus follows. Same experience on Xubuntu 14.04 and Kubuntu 14.04. The reason why i file this against Utopic is that i have altered my Trusty-Systems with Intel Drivers from 01.org (see below). The following attempts did not improve the thing: Trying “Intel Graphics Installer” from 01.org 1.0.7 within the Trusty Systems. Trying (alone and with Intel Drivers) Mainline Kernel 3.18.1. But of course initally with regular Utopic 3.16. It may be of interest that on the very same machine the OS “Siduction” (Debian Unstable Rolling Release) runs without any problems or concerns (currently Kernel 3.18 and xorg-packages from Debian Sid branch). [Bug 951389] [NEW] Intel Core i5-2500k/HD2000 not stable: black screen / crashes
Public bug reported: In Kubuntu Precise beta1 x_64, full up-to-date, i experience crashes of the Xserver. There are black screens, sometimes the desktop comes back, somtimes it ends up with a crash with moveable mouse but no further possibilities. More Information about hardware and logs see attachments. [Bug 864196] [NEW] Realtek RTL8111/8168B: Wrong driver module is loaded

[Bug 864196] Re: Realtek RTL8111/8168B: Wrong driver module is loaded
This is very serious. But i think it is not a specific Ubuntu issue but a kernel one. It's everywhere the same. I also tried Debian Testing (Linux MInt Debian Edition). The problem is that there is no module r8168 anywhere. Now, with this mentioned need to get the Ralink drivers makefile patched for linux 3.x this might be the end of linux contact for many people if they own the "right" hardware. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/864196 Title: Realtek RTL8111/8168B: Wrong driver module is loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+bug/864196/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
