[Bug 336231] Re: [Dell Inc. MM061] suspend/resume failure
Sorry for the delay in replying. The notification email triggered by your comment got lost in the noise, I'm afraid, and I forgot all about this. Well, suspend/resume usually works - indeed it's been 10 days since the last time it failed, and I suspend and resume about a dozen times every day. Unfortunately, it fails frequently enough that I'm now extra wary to make sure that my laptop does indeed fully suspend when I ask it to. This intermittent failure has being going on for the past 18 months, so this isn't a recent problem. I don't think it's a hardware issue either, as everything used to work fine under Windows (I'm a bit of a Linux newbie). I was stung a while back, when my laptop failed to shut down properly, and I didn't notice. I packed the laptop away in a bag, and when I came back to it, it was extremely hot, the hard-drive was fried, and the battery was somewhat depleted on a permanent basis - grrr! Currently, I'm running Ubuntu 2.6.28-11.35-generic, and have run every version released by Ubuntu since the first Jaunty Alpha. There's been no noticable change in the frequency of occurrence, but it happens too infrequently to be sure what's really going on. I haven't noticed any failure when running the suspend script from VT1 rather than from an X session, but again the issue is too intermittent for this to really mean much. I've had a look at the DebuggingKernelSuspend you mentioned, but it's all a bit outside my zone of comfort. I'll have to back some data up first, so I don't have much to lose if things go pear-shaped. One thing that's mentioned is that suspend/resume problems are usually due to the resume phase, often with an offending device driver not awakening correctly. I should point out that I don't get that far. My laptop fails to fully suspend. My only recourse at that point is a hard shut down (power button for four seconds). Of course, after this, there is no resume - only a fresh, clean boot. Finally, as much as I'd like to be able to state a specific set of circumstances under which this problem occurs, I'm unable to reliably repeat the problem As far as I can tell, it's pretty much random. I do run my battery down to nearly empty from time to time, but this doesn't seem to have any effect on the problem. Regards, Chris -- [Dell Inc. [Bug 335872] [NEW] Installation fails gracelessly
Public bug reported: I installed ubuntu-restricted-extras, which included, amongst other things, the sun java packages. Unlike all of the other packages under ubuntu-restricted-extras, the sun java packages present a licence agreement dialog. The installer should cope more gracefully when, after asking users whether or not to agree to the licence, the user chooses not to accept the licence. Alternatively, drop the sun packages in favour of the open java packages. [Bug 325001] Re: hxplay.bin crashed with SIGSEGV in pthread_mutex_lock()
If I run the player with 'sudo helix-player' I get as far as the initial configuration wizard, followed by the main player window being visible (as in Hector Louzao's screenshot above. However, when I close the player, I get 'Segmentation fault (core dumped)'. If I run the player without elevated privileges, simply with 'helix- player', it gets as far as attempting to draw the initial configuration wizard, but core dumps without even fully rendering the dialog. -- hxplay.bin crashed with SIGSEGV in pthread_mutex_lock() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/325001 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 345604] Re: Monodevelop stopped working after update
I've just noticed the date of the original bug report, and nephi513's commentm and was surprised to realise that this defect is more than a couple of weeks old. I've been updating Jaunty daily for the past month or so, and have only just run into this problem today. Until then, I've had no problems running the MonoDevelop 2.0 beta 2 on a daily basis. -- Monodevelop stopped working after update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345604 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 345604] Re: Monodevelop stopped working after update
I managed to work around this problem by completely removing all of my monodevelop related packages, and then reinstalling them. That's not to say that a complete reinstall was necessary to solve the problem - merely that doing so was sufficient to resolve the problem. -- Monodevelop stopped working after update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345604 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 360402] [NEW] Autorun dialog incorrectly presented on resume
Public bug reported: Upon resume after suspending my laptop, the autorun dialog usually displayed when I insert a new DVD disc appears, as though I've just reinserted a new disc. I only expect to see this dialog immediately after manually inserting a new disc, not every time I suspend and resume my laptop. Output of 'lsb_release -rd': Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch) Release:9.04 My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6400. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what package this relates to, though I suspect it's pm-util. This problem happens consistently, so is easily repeatable. Just for clarification, the autorun dialog I'm referring to is titled 'DVDVolume' (which is the disc label for my DVD disc) and contains the text 'You have just inserted a Video DVD. Choose what application to launch.', though this text varies depending on the type and contents of the disc present in the DVD drive. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Autorun dialog incorrectly presented on resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/360402 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 450834] [NEW] [Acer AOA150] hibernate/resume failure
Public bug reported: My laptop fails to hibernate. When I hit the power button, the screen briefly flashes off then on again, and then everything freezes. That is to say, the keyboard and trackpad become unresponsive, and the display contents are frozen (e.g. I have an animated system monitor app on one of my panels, and it ceases to update). The only recourse is to hold the power button for 4 seconds to force a hard reset. This problem is not intermittent - the hibernate has failed 10 times in succession without fail. I've been running Karmic for several weeks now, with hibernate/resume working without any problems. Since I've been updating packages every couple of days, I estimate that this defect has been introduced by a change within the last four days (which probably doesn't narrow things down much, as updates have been coming through thick and fast recently). This may be related to bug #346516 (it shares the same auto-generated title), but I'm unsure as that is a fairly old bug that was not well described, whereas my problem has occurred very recently.
