[Bug 353252] [NEW] Notification framework wizard fails and is uncancellable when the panel has been re-organised.
Public bug reported: The new status menu prompts me to update when I log in it but then fails. [Bug 351482] [NEW] Re-adding network manager icon to top panel is undiscoverable due to naming of notifications panel
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager For a user who has lost or accidentally removed the notifications panel and wants to see the NetworkManager connection status in the top panel - the naming and icon use for the "notifications area" makes it extremely difficult to discover that this is indeed the panel widget that needs to be added. I somehow switched off this vital piece of functionality and have been left hunting for it. Given that WIFI connectivity is such an important use case I would argue that this is a high priority issue that can be solved simply. Even as en experienced user I have had to resort to the forums / mailing lists [1] Simple fixes: - Instead of using the somewhat redundant icon with an 'i' on it - could we use the wireless connectivity icon? (I am assuming that my use case is the most common :-) ) - Can we add the word wireless or WIFI or network into the Notification panel description as it appears after you click on 'ADD TO PANEL' ? - At least it would turn up when I type in wireless or Wifi into the applet search box Larger fixes: Should the network manager icon by switch-on-able from other locations (preferences or administration)? [Bug 351491] [NEW] Display preferences should be discoverable via the "Change desktop background" window
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center USE CASE User boots with a monitor attached and Ubuntu decides that the external monitor is the Primary monitor. Gnome panels attach themselves to the external screen. User disconnects from external screen (which I do at least 5 times a day) and discover that a) I cannot access the GNOME panels and worse ) I cannot access the "Display - Change screen resolution" applet either. There are clearly many ways of attacking this: - Can we make the Display Screen Resolution applet functionality (where you can manipulate where the screens are) visible via the "Change Desktop Background" window. At least when a user cannot see the standard GNOME panels - they can still unattach the additional monitor. - Can we introduce the concept of primary and secondary monitors and allow a user to state which one is which. (Auto detection of the most commonly used one would be great too) - Should the right click on the desktop really be named - CHANGE DESKTOP BACKGROUND - can we use something more generic? - ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Display preferences should be discoverable via the "Change desktop background" window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351491 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 753584] [NEW] New Libre office icons are used in the launcher but not in Nautilus / Dash search results
Public bug reported: Suspect that this is a bug with the Ambiance theme. The new Libre Office icons are great - Blue for docs, Green for spread sheets and Red for presentations. These icons are clean and reflect the document type colour coding standards that users expect (Google and MSFT both do the same here.) When you see files in Nautilus OR the dash, the icons used to represent files pick up the old, frankly unattractive and unclear icons from open office. Getting the Libre Off icons to be used by Nautilus is a quick but very large usability and aesthetic win. [Bug 753584] Re: New Libre office icons are used in the launcher but not in Nautilus / Dash search results
The design team are a strong +1 on using the more upto date icons rather than the old OO ones. I spoke with Jason Warner on the desktop team and I believe we will get a UI freeze exception for this.
