[Bug 344252] Re: CPU Frequency Scaling defaults to "Performance" instead of "OnDemand"

2009-03-17 Thread Chak Man Yeung
Whenever I boot the system, the governor is set to Performance by
default, and I would have to change it back to Ondemand every time. It
gets very annoying, and I would really like a choice in choosing what
speed governor I use when I'm on AC power and on battery power.

[Bug 262372] Re: clicking the panel clock will freeze the panel

2008-09-10 Thread Chak Man Yeung
When I click on my clock to reveal the weather and other information,
the panel would lock up and I am unable to use anything on the panel.
However, I was able to issue the command 'killall gnome-panel' by
invoking the deskbar, and that caused gnome-panel to restart and I was
able to use the panel again.

[Bug 159362] Re: Selecting WIRED network does not turn off WIRELESS RADIO

2008-04-09 Thread Chak Man Yeung
I believe that this is more of an enhancement request than a bug.
Indeed, most laptop users connect to the Internet via the ethernet port
XOR via wireless. If the wired connection is active, there is really no
reason to have the wireless radio turned on and eating up power.

[Bug 53214] Re: confusing behavior with comma as thousands separators vs decimal point.

2008-04-28 Thread Chak Man Yeung
Áron Sisak: Your links do not work. With respect to this bug, I would
like to put in my two cents:

When I type in 1234+5678, I get something like 123,4+5,678 (see attached
screenshot). Asking the calculator to solve for this results in 6,,192.
This bug should receive higher priority than "wishlist" -- it is a
severe regression, as cosmetic as it is.

[Bug 53214] Re: confusing behavior with comma as thousands separators vs decimal point.

2008-04-28 Thread Chak Man Yeung
My apologies -- the result of 1234+5678 was recalled off the top of my
head. I meant to type in "6,,912" -- not "6,,192" The calculator does
calculate the correct number, but formats it incorrectly.

[Bug 205496] Re: [Hardy]Xsane needs root to operate scanner

2008-03-23 Thread Chak Man Yeung
I am also experiencing this issue with a Canon LiDE 30. The command
scanimage -L returns a "No scanner found" message when running as a
normal user, but it does return something when run as root. I am the
first user to be created, and I am already in the scanners group.

My output of scanimage -L when run as root: device
`plustek:libusb:003:002' is a Canon CanoScan N1240U/LiDE30 flatbed
scanner

Confirmed on Dell Inspiron E1505 with nVidia GeForce Go 7300 w/ 169.12

is intermittent and appears only when the computer is coming out of

[Bug 98635] Disable effects when running on battery

2007-03-29 Thread Chak Man Yeung
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

To extend battery life on laptops, there should be an option to
automatically disable effects whenever the power adapter is unplugged.
Conversely, when the power adapter is plugged back in, the effects
should automatically re-enable.

Because this is a feature suggestion, there is no procedure to reproduce
this.
