[Bug 412619] Re: error ripping audio CD with rhythmbox

2010-05-30 Thread Bob M Brown
Hi,

I came to this thread after aborting a CD rip partway through and have
managed to boil this error down to the following.

Rhythmbox 0.12.8, Ubuntu 10.04.
Prefered media type: CD Quality, MP3 (.mp3 type)

Steps to reproduce:

1. Select some tracks to rip from a CD (e.g. tracks 1 and 2)
2. Right click the CD in the navigator pane and choose Extract To Library. Let
it complete.
3. Select tracks 1 and 2 again.
4. Right click the CD in the navigator pane and choose Extract To Library. For
me there was no prompt here to overwrite the file, ripping of track one began
again. Hit Ctrl-C in the console to kill Rhythmbox.
5. Restart Rhythmbox, select tracks 1 and 2 again, right click the CD in the
navigator pane and choose Extract To Library.
6. When asked if you want to overwrite track 1, choose No.
7. The error message "Unable to locate encoding profile for mime-type" is given.

Output of file on the first track is:
filename.mp3: Audio file with ID3 version 2.4.0, contains: MPEG ADTS, layer
III, v1, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, Stereo

If I can provide more info please let me know.

-B.

[Bug 1301328] Re: [Toshiba Satellite Pro C660 PSC1RA-003001] Brightness controls doesn't work

2014-05-08 Thread Bob M Brown
Hello - sorry for the delay. I wanted to reinstall after 14.04 was out.
After installing a fresh 14.04 and using the NVIDIA binary driver (ver
331.38 in this instance) the backlight controls work properly with no
extra configuration required. They did not however work using the
Nouveau display driver however I was compelled to use the binary driver
as graphics performance was poor.

Do you still want to leave this bug open?

2014-03-15 Thread Bob M Brown
@penalvch If the C660 brightness controls don't work out of the box with
Ubuntu should this bug be closed/invalid? I always come back to this
issue after a reinstall to find my comment above. Seems it should be
fixed somehow in Unbuntu but I don't know how to triage it.

[Bug 969039] Re: HUD appears when tapping Alt+Left very quickly

2014-06-22 Thread Bob M Brown
This bug describes a behaviour that I'm currently seeing although not
with arrow keys. I am on Ubuntu 14.04 64bit with Unity 7.2.0. The
behaviour I've noticed affects key combinations EXCEPT arrow keys and
isn't an issue when I first boot my machine.

My machine has been running for 3.5 hours and now I've started noticing
that Alt-D especially as it's part of my workflow to put the focus in
the Chromium addressbar triggers the HUD popup. When I first boot this
is not a problem. Other combos like Alt-F pop up the file menu for a
brief moment and then the HUD pops over closing the menu.

As initially reported if I hold Alt for slightly longer and then press
the key I want then this does not happen.

2014-06-23 Thread Bob M Brown
I just booted this morning and noticed it in the first few minutes.
After a reboot it is fine. There must be some combination that is
triggering this. I will report back if I find anything else of
relevance.

Workaround confirmed, /etc/X11/xorg.conf reads as follows (entire file):

Section "Device"
Identifier "Default Device"
Option "NoLogo""True"
Option "RegistryDwords" "EnableBrightnessControl=1"
EndSection

Log out and logged back in and brightness control works as expected.

[Bug 887915] Re: ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.ActionQueue - WARNING - Connection lost: [('SSL routines', 'SSL23_READ', 'ssl handshake failure')]

2012-02-26 Thread Bob M Brown
Same issue here. Noticed it because the notification message was
complaining about a file in a directory for the last few days so I
tarred it all up but still get the message regarding the new file.

I have rebooted between and my machine has been offline for the weekend
(work PC).

I went digging in the logs and found this relevant line:

ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.StorageClient - INFO - Connection lost, reason:
[Failure instance: Traceback (failure with no frames): : [('SSL routines', 'SSL23_READ', 'ssl handshake
failure')]

Hmm ... after poking and prodding it things have come right - but all
I've done is look at the log file and use the Ubuntu One GUI to stop and
start the system. I wonder if this is server load related. Here is
something odd from the log file that may help with diagnosis of future
instances of this:

[Bug 449572] Re: wget not downloading stylesheets (CSS) when using -p/--page-requisites

2011-06-16 Thread Bob M Brown
Hi there,

I'm having similar problems - maybe someone can investigate this. It
has it's feet firmly planted in the "weird" camp:

URL: http://www.turboweb.co.nz/

Command used: (output attached)
$ wget -k -r -l 1 -p http://www.turboweb.co.nz

Expecting to get a theme directory in my output as per this in the index.html:

And also as per references to images in the theme directory, e.g.:

But instead, in the directory structure that wget creates there is no
theme folder, and the links have been replaced with fully qualified
URI's to the resources on the (i.e. what was "/theme/theme/images..." is
replaced with "http://www.turboweb.co.nz/theme/theme/images...";).

It's not just the resources in the theme folder either, the javascript
file image-pop.js is also not downloaded and instead is referred to on
the live website, whereas other files (e.g. support.js) aren't. I can't
see any difference at all between these files in terms of how they're
hosted or how they're referenced.

Happy to provide more information on request. This is an Ubuntu 10.10
i686 desktop system.

[Bug 449572] Re: wget not downloading stylesheets (CSS) when using -p/--page-requisites

2011-06-17 Thread Bob M Brown
Found my issue - the files in question were being disallowed by the
robots.txt file at the root of the domain, and so wget was referencing
them at their fully qualified URL. Cheers.
