[Bug 161911] lighttpd build-dep missing glib

2007-11-10 Thread Bjorn Tipling
Public bug reported:

I was not able to build lighttpd trunk by simply resolving build
dependency via apt-get build-dep lighttpd. Missing was gthread2.0 in
glib. I was able to resolve the issue by installing libglib2.0-dev.
Maybe that package, or something associated with it that was installed
along with it, should be added to to lighttpd's build-dep.

[Bug 161911] Re: lighttpd build-dep missing glib

2007-11-10 Thread Bjorn Tipling
I'm on Gutsy My info (uname -a):
Linux bjorn-desktop 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 23:05:12 GMT 2007 i686
GNU/Linux

lighttpd the package works fine. That's not what I was reporting. I'm
talking about using build-dep to build all the dependencies in order to
build lighttpd from source, specifically from lighttp's svn trunk:
http://trac.lighttpd.net/trac/wiki/Devel/Subversion

Thanks.

[Bug 212434] [NEW] Black screen and keyboard unresponsive after logging out

2008-04-05 Thread Bjorn Tipling
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 8.04, Hardy after I log out of Gnome or Xmonad I end up with a
black screen and the keyboard becomes unresponsive. My monitor does not
go into hybernation, it is just black. Key commands like
cntrl+alt+backspace, or attempts to open a virtual terminal fail. The
only thing I have been able to do when this happens is restart the
machine. This happens 100% of the time I try to log out. I am logging
out via the 'log out' button on the Gnome pop up and Alt+shift+Q in
xmonad.

What I expected to happen was to be given a login screen just as I see
it when I first start up the machine.

[Bug 68027] Re: sudo update-manager -c -d crashes during xubuntu upgrade

2007-04-20 Thread Bjorn Tipling
I upgraded to Feisty with no problems. It was really smooth and
painless. I just clicked the upgrade to (x)Ubuntu 7.01. I think the
dapper to edgy upgrade still needs to be fixed. It's not right to leave
it hanging out there. I'd fix it if I could.

[Bug 68027] Re: sudo update-manager -c -d crashes during xubuntu upgrade

2007-04-15 Thread Bjorn Tipling
I experienced this bug. I almost lost months of work but I did lose
tons of customized configuration because of it. I went ahead and just
cleared out my drive and installed with a clean install without
upgrading. I'm a little worried about upgrading to Feisty because of
this.

[Bug 42160] Re: Shut Down won't power off

2007-01-20 Thread Bjorn Tipling
I have not tried feisty yet, and this bug hasn't been an issue for me
because I rarely shut of my machine anymore, I generally just reboot it
which works fine.

[Bug 480517] [NEW] Mac Mini (Mid 2007) running Ubuntu 9.10 can't start without monitor plugged in

2009-11-10 Thread Bjorn Tipling
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: usplash

My machine cannot boot without a monitor plugged in. On my old pc I
never had trouble starting or rebooting ubuntu without a monitor plugged
in and it's a real hassle to have to plug one in just so I can boot or
restart Ubuntu.

Steps to reproduce:
1. type sudo reboot or power down mac mini and then power back on without
monitor connected
2. Wait 5-10 minutes and notice that power light is on
3. attempt to ping machine notice "host is down" message

Try it several times, same result

Fix:
1. plugin a monitor
2 power up machine or reboot
3. Ubuntu starts normally

[Bug 557177] Re: init: support mandatory arguments, or prevent starting of tasks without any arguments

2010-04-07 Thread Bjorn Tipling
Scott: in case you are wondering why abuse is suddenly being heaped on
you, it's because the moral outrage brigade from Reddit and Hacker News
have come to exercise their moral outrage on something that has never
touched them, will never touch them, have no responsibility over and nor
desire to help out in any way shape or form other than to attack you.
Some people think a comment box and a submit button are a license to
say whatever's on their mind whenever they want.

Reddit/Hacker News types: hey, you guys see a downvote button anywhere?
No? Hrm, maybe you've gotten lost and need to find your way home and let
the guy do his job.
