[Bug 272557] Re: Leaving an SD card in the slot when suspending creates a white nautilus window on awake
I do think you should make clear in your bug-description that your issue is clearly about nautilus opening a window when you insert an SD-card while suspended. The white window/screen nvidia-thingy is (to me) clearly another issue which has already been reported and marked as a bug. In other words, please don't mix up the two issues in one bug-report. -- Leaving an SD card in the slot when suspending creates a white nautilus window on awake https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/272557 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 94148] Re: atheros wifi card drop connection and low signal
Just another quick test I did: I screw off my antenna, my signal goes "up" and after that I loose my connection. -- atheros wifi card drop connection and low signal https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/94148 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 94148] Re: atheros wifi card drop connection and low signal
I also noticed the strange signal behaviour and sudden disconnects. I compared the strength of several accesspoints nearby and it looks like madwifi or network manager reverses the signal strength. Under Windows I usually have nearly 100% and under Ubuntu nearly 0%, and disconnects when it hits 0%. When I look at the accesspoints nearby I can confirm this behaviour. I have listed the AP's nearby and I sorted them on signal strength under Windows XP and Ubuntu 8.10. The list of Ubuntu is almost and reversed one compared to the XP-list. Strength AP from high to low strength WinXP: Ubuntu 8.10: Dorpssteeg* SX551E2FCEC NETGEAR SpeedTouch6C82B6 CafeBertje NETGEAR @home27524 @home27524 SpeedTouch6C82B6CafeBertje SX551E2FCEC Dorpssteeg* * = my AP Also see the attached screenshots. I think reversing the signal-strength should be an easy fix (although I don't no where exactly to look) and it could possibly resolve a lot of weird disconnects (with "full" -> actually bad strength). A work-around I currently use is bending my antenna for some less reception and NetworkManager doesn't hit 0% (which is actually 100%) so I stay connected. My system uses a Realtek 8185 (module rtl8180). Maybe others could check and possibly confirm this behaviour. ** Attachment added: "wireless-strength.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19488288/wireless-strength.png -- atheros wifi card drop connection and low signal https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/94148 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 72061] Sata errors on sil3112 - kernel not booting
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.19-5-generic When using the feisty 2.6.19-5-generic kernel, I get the following error several times and my system can't boot: ata: abnormal status 0x7f on port 0x177 I have a sil3112 on-board serial ata controller and 2 seagate drives which both have the "mod15write bug". The speed on these drives was slow and CPU-consuming on the 2.6.17.10 kernel from edgy, but working. Possibly this bug has something to do with the kernel not correctly loading my drives. [Bug 72061] Re: Sata errors on sil3112 - kernel not booting
I tried the new kernel and it looks like the problem has been solved because the seagate errata fix is now applied. See the attached dmesg output. I haven't done a full benchmark but the CPU usage seems to be less than it was in previous kernels and accessing the drive seems faster although it still isn't as fast as in windows: sudo hdparm -tT /dev/sdb /dev/sdb: Timing cached reads: 1074 MB in 2.00 seconds = 536.44 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 72 MB in 3.02 seconds = 23.85 MB/sec I have to note that I installed a new harddisk for my root partition (WD on sda/ata1.00) since I reported the bug, and I now use the seagate as a secondary drive but I don't think this influenced the bug since it was about the mod15 workaround and I can access the drive fine now. ** Attachment added: "dmesg output" http://librarian.launchpad.net/5430579/dmseg -- Sata errors on sil3112 - kernel not booting https://launchpad.net/bugs/72061 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 62962] Gimp crashes while doing nothing...
Public bug reported: When I open a file and edit it a little, everything is normal. When I continue some other work (like programming a website) and leave gimp alone for a while, it crashes after a few minutes. I didn't touch gimp in that time and it happens on a regular timebase.
