[Bug 124598] nautilus blocks boot
Public bug reported: When logging on the desktop, I have to wait roughly 2 minutes before the programs defined in the session manager launch. It also means no network connectivity during this time. I plotted a bootchart available here : http://vitevu.free.fr/bootchart_nautilus.png I don't really know which program is blocking the end of the boot process. But seeing that nautilus and gnome-panel start at the same time at 43 seconds and nothing happens then leads me to think one of these may be the culprit. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nautilus blocks boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124598 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

That's exactly what I did. I put /usr/bin/metacity but this disabled the desktop effects on logon. If I re-enable them, /usr/bin/compiz is put in the gconf key.
