[Bug 59875] apt should look into the mounted device before all
Public bug reported: I don't have a high-speed Internet connection so I downloaded apart the DVDs with the Universe/Multiverse repositories, and then added them to my repositories list. Sometimes I install a package that needs dependencies from several DVDs, and apt asks me for those, always in the same order (I suppose this is the order I added them). If apt just needs the DVD 2 and this is mounted, doesn't ask it and installas. But if needs the DVD 1 and 2 and the 2 is mounted, asks me the 1 and then the 2, instead of using first the one that is mounted. I know this is not a bug, this is a nonsense. But I know a lot of people (well, not too much) that use this kind of repositories because want to use Ubuntu and don't have (or can't configure) their Internet connection. ** Affects: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- apt should look into the mounted device before all https://launchpad.net/bugs/59875 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 91677] libxine-ffmpeg doesn't work well with w32codecs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libxine1-ffmpeg I am using an updated Ubuntu Feisty. This is the situation: 1. I try to play a Real Video file with totem-xine. I get no video and no sound, so I install libxine-extracodecs, now in Feisty renamed to libxine-ffmpeg. 2. I try to play the file again and I get sound but no video. I uninstall the libxine-ffmpeg package and downgrade the libxine-extracodecs package to the Edgy version. I try to play the file and it plays well. I think my problem is the same I have read. My USB Wireless device uses the zd1211rw module. When I boot my system, the network-manager applet starts spinning trying to find my wireless network. It doesn't connect, but clicking on the icon I see that it has found my network. I click on the network and the icon starts spinning again, but it doesn't connect either :( I try again: I click in the list on my network, the icon starts spinning, then I click on my network again and... wow, the green lights turn on and it connects! 3. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20 I have a Wireless USB device, model Comtrend CT-WN4320Z. It works in Dapper but not in Edgy or Feisty. I had this bug in Breezy and it still happens in Dapper. My case: I have a CD-ROM unit (master) and a DVD unit (slave). As the CD unit is the fastest, I installed Ubuntu by that unit. Afterwards, when I try to add a DVD with packages, I insert it but "apt" just looks in the /cdrom point. Why can't it look in all the possible CD drives? I solve it installing from my DVD drive or mounting the DVD in the /cdrom point, but I suppose it shouldn't be very difficult to solve, although if it comes from Warty... -- apt-get calls for drive '/cdrom/' https://launchpad.net/bugs/7866 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
