[Bug 252492] [NEW] Plugging / Unplugging notification screen artifact

2008-07-28 Thread BC7333
Public bug reported:

See attached.

When plugging or unplugging laptop, a small box near the bottom of the
screen 'freezes' the screen content within the box.

After a minute or so it goes away.

Believe this is the notification bubble that should show current plugged
/ unplugged state.

Upgrade from Hardy to Alpha 2, then updated thereafter.

[Bug 173418] Re: [Hardy] NVIDIA cards using vesa driver and low screen resolutions on livecd

2008-04-15 Thread BC7333
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lspci -nn | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation NV31M [GeForce FX
Go5600] [10de:031a] (rev a1)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

What works for me is the following:

sudo cp a 'working' xorg.conf (see example that worked for me attached)
then DO NOT REBOOT OR RESTART

instead

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

This will backup your xorg and install a 'fresh' version like here:

# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Section "InputDevice"

Driver "kbd"

Seems though that somehow the previous xorg content is saved somewhere
because when I reboot it loads up fine.

Logically thinking, maybe just adding a single section into the 'fresh'
xorg.conf, and running sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg might
also work, but haven't tried yet.

Won't solve the compiz problems though.. still can't activate effects
here.

[Bug 212514] [NEW] [hardy] backlight turns off when charging

2008-04-05 Thread BC7333
Public bug reported:

Fairly often, usually when posting to forum posts, (typing), the
backlight will turn off, the caps light will turn on and I have to do a
hard shutdown and restart.

Ctrl Alt backspace has no affect.

Only happens when my laptop (Flybook V5) is charging.

When this happens, restart leaving the power cord plugged in will not be
successful.

Have to disconnect power and then restart.

[Bug 206761] Re: psmouse lost sync / resync failed

2008-03-26 Thread BC7333
mlapaglia,

Thanks for the tip about cpu.. when I use powersave mode with KPowersave
that forces cpu to 800 instead of 1200 it seem to help quite a bit, but
still hapens eventually. Still a marked improvement.

I also experienced similar flakey mouse movements before in feisty/gutsy
when wireless was trying to connect but don't have the logs to confirm
this.
