RE: [Bug 552653] Re: [Lucid] Jockey gives message that it failed to install nvidia hardware driver

2010-04-13 Thread Arnold Niemann

i have just read your emails... i had over 30 emails regarding this issue... i
had decided to stick with karmic koala untill lucid lynx is fully fixed,
basically waiting for the final release to come, which is only 2weeks from now.
but, i hope others that had the same issue i had, got their problem fixed. im
still continuing enjoying linux, ive tried many others and so far mint/ubuntu
are the easiest to work on for me. i wished the wine program worked better
because i play counter-strike and wine makes the game buggy. maybe in the
future wine will be alot better than it is now... faster, smoother... for
gaming. i hope... thanks!

RE: [Bug 552653] Re: [Lucid] Jockey gives message that it failed to install nvidia hardware driver

2010-04-13 Thread Arnold Niemann

as i do enjoy helping creators of ubuntu make it better by fixing bugs,
ive decided to stay with karmic 9.10 untill lucid 10.04 is done and
fully functional. which is only 2 weeks away... i hope everything gets
sorted out. so far ubuntu is the best ive worked with... ive heard many
other distros out there that are just as good as ubuntu, but havent
tried them out yet.

[Bug 560200] [NEW] wifi light acts weird

2010-04-10 Thread Arnold Niemann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

i have a compaq presario cq-60 215dx.
i upgraded my ubuntu os from 9.10 to 10.04 LTS beta 2. Libc6 package.
i have noticed my wifi light, the light that shows that my network connection
is on used to stay orange in ubuntu 9.10. As i first started to use the 10.04
LTS, it actually went blue but often changes to orange... depending on wifi
traffic, thus changing from orange to blue, back and forth. The internet
connection still works but the light just acts funny every 5 mins or so. i
thought id point this out so that maybe that can be fixed when the final
version comes out.

[Bug 560218] [NEW] nvidia drivers dont install

2010-04-10 Thread Arnold Niemann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

i have a compaq presario cq-60 215dx.
i was running ubuntu 9.10 then upgraded to ubuntu 10.04 LTS beta 2.
i noticed since i upgraded, everything was fine with my nvidia driver because i
was using the same driver in 9.10 release. but when i checked out the "hardware
drivers" menu, it gave me an option to activate a "nvidia accelerated graphics
driver (version current)". it was said at the bottom that im using a different
version of this driver and it was recommended that it use the one specified for
10.04 LTS. when i tried downloading and activating the driver, it gave me an
error... "installation of this driver has failed".
