[Bug 376214] [NEW] High memory usage when loading Jamendo catalogue in Rhythmbox

2009-05-13 Thread Arnaud Soyez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When accessing Jamendo on Rhythmbox, it loads the whole catalogue and
eats up all my RAM memory (rhythmbox using around 630mb by itself, I
have 1Gb ram). After closing rhythmbox, memory is around 230mb.

1) Open rhythmbox,
2) Click on Jamendo,
3) Wait till loading is totally complete.

I'm using Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04, 64bits.

Rhythmbox 0.12.0-0ubuntu4

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04

[Bug 328008] Re: Rhythmbox overloads memory with Jamendo

2009-05-13 Thread Arnaud Soyez
I confirm this bug for Jaunty, as bug #376214 (that I just filed) has been
flagged as duplicate of this bug.
The difference is I can see the songs perfectly, the problem is just that the
memory RAM is full.
Please see bug #376214 for more information.

[Bug 386820] Re: X Server is already running on Display 0:

2009-06-18 Thread Arnaud Soyez
It appears to be a xorg or gdm problem. I'm setting the package as xorg,
please change it if that's xorg-related.

I removed the unnecessary complaints from the bug description. Thank you
for your comprehension.

** Description changed:

Whenever I try to log into the computer from GDM, I get a bug saying
that there is already an X Server running on Display 0:. It gives me an
option to start a new one on the next display. If I say yes, it has me
log on again, and then just tells me there's already an X server running
on that display. If I say no, it has me log on again and tells me the
same error. I'm told that I could work around this bug if I could
remove the X server lock in temp, however, the tty shells appear to be
broken too. I try to log into them and then they just have me enter my
  credentials again.

- I have never had this kind of negative experience before with Ubuntu,
- but this is simply intolerable. I'd like some kind of fix.
+ I have never had this kind of negative experience before with Ubuntu.

- For reference sake, my video card is an nVidia 9500. This bug occured

- are unrelated.

[Bug 390792] Re: When I tried to install the updates using Update Manager, I got a Summary pop-up window with a message "You are about to install software that can't be authenticated!Doing this could

2009-06-22 Thread Arnaud Soyez
It would be helpful if you could tell us what was the package concerned by this.
Also, did you recently add any PPA (personal package archive) or custom
repositories?

You can check this by opening /etc/apt/sources.list:

Push Alt+F2,
Type: gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
If you see lines that look like (especially ones that contain
ppa.launchpad.net):
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bzr/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main

If you found some, that means you (or another administrator of your
computer) have added PPA archives and you need to import the
corresponding PPA GPG keys so that you can authenticate the packages
from this PPA. See
https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/PPA#Adding%20a%20PPA%20to%20your%20Ubuntu%20repositories

Note: there are custom repositories that aren't hosted on launchpad, and
those look very short, for example: deb http://domain.com/...

2009-06-12 Thread Arnaud Soyez
The priority is related to both the bug report and the concerned
package. High priority would mean that the linux package would keep you
from using your computer or also it could mean that it can't install
itself. High would also suggest that the bug needs to be fixed within a
few days.

Andy has already given a couple deb package to test. And I think now we
need to wait and see what Andy wants us to do.

2009-07-30 Thread Arnaud Soyez
This bug might even get more important as there is no Playbin available
(not even playbin2) in the current version in Karmic! So examples won't
even compile as I get this:

erreur: gstreamermm/playbin2.h : Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type
(File not found)

A playbin is often used as this makes it a lot easier to use Gstreamer,
even in the C bindings both playbin and playbin2 are available.

The debian version 0.10.2-1 contains at least playbin2.
Can we increase the importance of this bug, or is there a way to make sure it's
synced before freeze?

$ dpkg --contents
/home/weboide/download/libgstreamermm-0.10-dev_0.10.1-1_amd64.deb | grep -i
playbin
(returns nothing)

$ dpkg --contents
/home/weboide/download/libgstreamermm-0.10-dev_0.10.2-1_amd64.deb | grep -i
playbin
-rw-r--r-- root/root 26247 2009-05-28 19:39
./usr/include/gstreamermm-0.10/gstreamermm/playbin2.h
-rw-r--r-- root/root 1980 2009-05-28 19:39

don't think I can try them using a i386 live cd as they will be

[Bug 404554] Re: [Karmic] Crackling noise after a sound is played on HP Mini 1000

2009-08-13 Thread Arnaud Soyez
Tried with Karmic alpha 4, this is still happenning.

** Description changed:

This is on a HP Mini 1000 (1120NR).
- Using Ubuntu UNR Karmic alpha-3 iso.
+ Using Ubuntu UNR Karmic alpha-3 (also tried normal karmic alpha-4) iso.

Generally the sound works good. The problem appears after a sound has
been played when there is only silence, after a few seconds I hear a
crackling noise which lasts for a few milliseconds. It happens
everytime. Maybe like a powersaving problem?

To test it, I just do:
  paplay /usr/share/sounds/question.wav
I wait a few seconds and then I hear the crackling noise.

Note also that in at boot-time, I think when loading the hda-intel module,
there is also a crackling sound and at shutdown too.
Under Jaunty, the sound didn't work but using alsa-source and compiling the
modules I could make it work, there were no crackling sound except at boot time
and shutdown.
I remember when I was using HP MIE (Ubuntu for HP Mini's), they used a
workaround to avoid that noise, they mute the volume at boot-time and at
shutdown (but I'm not certain).

I'm available to answer any questions. Note that I'm using the LiveCD so this
is not currently installed on my laptop.

[Bug 318942] Re: no sound from speakers on HP Mini 1000 (hda-intel, IDT 92HD75B2X5)

2009-07-24 Thread Arnaud Soyez
I just tried Karmic alpha-3 and the sound *works* (HP Mini 1000 1120NR)!
*BUT* there is a crackling sound lasting a few milliseconds, it seems to
happen a little while after the last sound has been played (maybe some
kind of powersaving?). This will probably be very annoying to end-users.

- In dmesg, I get this, but this might not be related as I don't get it every
single time I get crackles:
hda-intel: azx_get_response timeout, switching to polling mode: last
cmd=0x00af0900

- Some more info:
82801G (ICH7family) High Definition Audio Controller (Rev 02)
Modules: snd-hda-intel
I'm using Ubuntu UNR Karmic alpha3 iso.

[Bug 405079] [NEW] [sync request] apachetop to 0.12.6-10 from debian unstable

2009-07-26 Thread Arnaud Soyez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apachetop

Please sync:
package: apachetop
version: 0.12.6-10
from: debian unstable (http://packages.debian.org/sid/apachetop)
to: Karmic

apachetop seems to be totally unusable in Jaunty with version 0.12.6-9, and it
looks like Karmic has the same version too.
I just saw that Debian has a newer version that fixes lp bug #294599 and it
works under Jaunty.

The sync should be pretty easy as this is not an "-ubuntu" package.

PTS: http://packages.qa.debian.org/g/gstreamermm.html

This version is more suited to the corresponding gstreamer version 0.10.23.4-1
that is already in Karmic.
The new dependencies are satisfied already in Karmic and it builds with no
problem.

[Bug 512506] Re: package file missing

2010-01-26 Thread Arnaud Soyez
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How
to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 444580] [NEW] [Karmic] Seahorse shows wrong location for ssh keys

2009-10-06 Thread Arnaud Soyez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

In the SSH key's properties in seahorse, the location is wrong
(/home/nate/.ssh/blah_rsa).

After creating a SSH key using seahorse, right click on it and select
Properties, then go into Details and checkout the location.
It says something like: /home/nate/.ssh/blah_rsa
This path is wrong, and there is not even a "nate" user on my machine.

It happens for every SSH key that I have. (The fingerprint looks ok
though.)

See below for screenshot.

This bug is now invalid, so if you experience problems accessing your hardware,
PLEASE file a new bug report specific to that hardware that is not working.
And complaining will not help fix anything, but filing bugs with relevent
information would most likely help. (see

[Bug 949011] Re: Update "ruby1.8 1.8.7.249-2ubuntu0.1" breaks package "redmine 0.9.3-1"

2012-03-14 Thread Arnaud Soyez
The reboots does not seem to help for me.

The importance of this bug should be cranked up, since this completely
prevents redmine from functionning at all.

[Bug 665231] Re: cannot create dapper VMs because tzdata does not exist on dapper

2010-12-20 Thread Arnaud Soyez
In lp:vmbuilder/trunk , line 362.
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-virt/vmbuilder/trunk/annotate/head%3A/VMBuilder/plugins/ubuntu/dapper.py#L362
It should say locales instead of tzdata. But maybe that branch is not the focus
of current development, though I still think the fix should apply to it.

The 0.12.x branch is not affected, but 0.12.4 release is affected, but
I'm sure the next release will contain the fix.

[Bug 653777] [NEW] apt-pinning is ignored though it is shown in apt-cache policy

2010-10-02 Thread Arnaud Soyez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt

Using 10.10 RC,

I copied over my apt preferences from Lucid (see attachment). It is used to
prevent installing some packages I don't want.
The problem is that when installing ubuntu-restricted-extras, apt still wants
to install ttf-liberation.

Here's an example of what I have in /etc/apt/preferences:
Package: ttf-liberation
Pin: version 0.0

And here's what I get with apt-cache policy (I remember having the same
output in Lucid):

 citadel-server -> (not found)
