[Bug 376214] [NEW] High memory usage when loading Jamendo catalogue in Rhythmbox
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox When accessing Jamendo on Rhythmbox, it loads the whole catalogue and eats up all my RAM memory (rhythmbox using around 630mb by itself, I have 1Gb ram). After closing rhythmbox, memory is around 230mb. 1) Open rhythmbox, 2) Click on Jamendo, 3) Wait till loading is totally complete. I'm using Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04, 64bits. I confirm this bug for Jaunty, as bug #376214 (that I just filed) has been flagged as duplicate of this bug. The priority is related to both the bug report and the concerned package. High priority would mean that the linux package would keep you from using your computer or also it could mean that it can't install itself. High would also suggest that the bug needs to be fixed within a few days. Andy has already given a couple deb package to test. Generally the sound works good. The problem appears after a sound has been played when there is only silence, after a few seconds I hear a crackling noise which lasts for a few milliseconds. It happens everytime. Maybe like a powersaving problem? To test it, I just do: paplay /usr/share/sounds/question.wav I wait a few seconds and then I hear the crackling noise. Note also that in at boot-time, I think when loading the hda-intel module, there is also a crackling sound and at shutdown too. Under Jaunty, the sound didn't work but using alsa-source and compiling the modules I could make it work, there were no crackling sound except at boot time and shutdown. I remember when I was using HP MIE (Ubuntu for HP Mini's), they used a workaround to avoid that noise, they mute the volume at boot-time and at shutdown (but I'm not certain). I'm available to answer any questions. Note that I'm using the LiveCD so this is not currently installed on my laptop. I just tried Karmic alpha-3 and the sound *works* (HP Mini 1000 1120NR)! *BUT* there is a crackling sound lasting a few milliseconds, it seems to happen a little while after the last sound has been played (maybe some kind of powersaving?). [Bug 404554] [NEW] [Karmic] Crackling noise after a sound is played on HP Mini 1000
Public bug reported: This is on a HP Mini 1000 (1120NR). Using Ubuntu UNR Karmic alpha-3 iso.
