[Bug 366262] Re: Desktop is completely unresponsive after Jaunty upgrade

2009-04-25 Thread aras
I just did a fresh install today. I can reproduce this error.
There is no desktop icons. Right click or left drag on the desktop does not
display anything.
When there is a CD in one of my cd drives I can not run nautilus (in the
terminal I get segmentation fault as soon as I run it).
If there is no CD in that drive nautilus runs fine.
But I never get my desktop icons or right click back, even when nautilus runs.

I'll try making another user and post the results.

I'v attached some log files of when nautilus crashes. This is the first
time I created these logs, so if there is something missing please let
me know how to improve them.

Thanks

[Bug 234466] Re: [hardy] Pen crazy in tablet PC

2010-01-22 Thread aras
I am also facing this bug. I am running Ubuntu 9.10 on a X41 tablet.
I've attached an screenshot of what happens in xournal when I try to
slowly drow a vertical line. I tried it once, changes the color with my
mouse and tried the pen again. It seems that my pen only jumps straight
to the some edge of the screen that is to the left of the point i am
pressing. Not sure if this helps debugging the problem, but I thought I
throw it out there.

I really want this problem gone, since I only use ubuntu :). I am also
willing to help test further to narrow down this annoying bug :)

[Bug 1667133] [NEW] touch is constantly jumping around

2017-02-22 Thread aras
Public bug reported:

The issue I am having is very similar to this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1574667

Depending on what applications are running the apparently random
behavior may increase. Sometimes it is really bad and several times in
one second the system detects random touches around the screen. As a
result Ubuntu automatically zooms in or out or moves the content of
screen around or the focus is stolen. Right now as I am typing this bug
I am getting very dizzy because the UI is constantly zooming in and out.
I have noticed this happens a lot (A LOT!) more frequently when chrome
is opened.

I have tried removing a few xorg input packages as a desperate attempt
to stop this:

```
sudo apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-input-libinput
sudo apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
sudo apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-input-wacom
```

Right now my touch screen is not working and my touchpad never worked.

I have plugged in an external mouse and it works, up until the focus gets
stolen from it by random touches around the screen. Before I
removed libinput mouse pointer was also jumping constantly to a random
location. But since I remove libinput, mouse cursor stays where it is but
random touches seems to be happening anyway.

This is extremely annoying behavious and is rendering my laptop useless.

I am using Acer Spin 5

[Bug 1667133] Re: touch is constantly jumping around (ghost touching)

2017-02-26 Thread aras
I know for sure now that the touchscreen is the culprit:

↳ Raydium Corporation Raydium Touch System id=10 [slave pointer
(2)]

If I disable this device using the command `xinput disable 10` the
behavior stops immediately. I will not be able to use the touchscreen
anymore, however, the touchpad and mouse work fine. Any ideas how I
could debug this further?

[Bug 997444] [NEW] Unity top panel restarts when changing tabs in Kile or Eclipse

2012-05-09 Thread aras
Public bug reported:

When I switch tabs in Kile (tex editing application) or the Eclipse IDE
the unity panels on top disapears for a brief moment and then
immediately starts again. This causes the screen to resize quickly to
fill in the empty space after the panel is gone and then resize again
when the panel comes pack to claim its space again. The whole thing
happens in under one second, however, this looks like a glich visually
and it also makes switching tabs (which unfortunately is something I
have to do a lot of) a bit and slow and not very pleasing to the eye.

Here is how to reproduce the bug in ubuntu 12.04 with Unity:
 - Open Kile
 - Open two or more documents inside Kile
 - Use the mouse to switch from one document tab to another one
 - You will see the top panel disapear and reapear quickly

Let me know if I can provide any other information to help debug this
issue.

[Bug 997444] Re: Unity top panel restarts when changing tabs in Kile or Eclipse

2012-05-09 Thread aras
** Description changed:

  When I switch tabs in Kile (tex editing application) or the Eclipse IDE
- the unity panels on top disapears for a brief moment and then
+ the application menu shows up brifly pushing things down, right after
+ that the unity panels on top disapears for a brief moment and then
  immediately starts again. This causes the screen to resize quickly to
  fill in the empty space after the panel is gone and then resize again
  when the panel comes pack to claim its space again. The whole thing
- happens in under one second, however, this looks like a glich visually
- and it also makes switching tabs (which unfortunately is something I
- have to do a lot of) a bit and slow and not very pleasing to the eye.
+ happens in under one second, and after its done things are back to
+ normal. However, this looks like a glich visually and it also makes
+ switching tabs (which unfortunately is something I have to do a lot of)
+ a bit and slow and not very pleasing to the eye.
+
+ My guess is that this issue is related to HUD since just before it
+ happens the application menu (File Edit ...) shows up in the top.

  Here is how to reproduce the bug in ubuntu 12.04 with Unity:
-  - Open Kile
- - Open two or more documents inside Kile
- - Use the mouse to switch from one document tab to another one
- - You will see the top panel disapear and reapear quickly
+  - Open Kile
+  - Open two or more documents inside Kile
+  - Use the mouse to switch from one document tab to another one
+  - You will see the top panel disapear and reapear quickly

  Let me know if I can provide any other information to help debug this
  issue.

[Bug 964437] Re: unity crashes when installing application through Software Center

2012-08-04 Thread aras
I encounter this issue on a Lenovo X60 Tablet. I can reproduce this
every time. Here is how:

* Open Firefox
* Open Ubuntu Software Center
* Choose a new application from Software center and hit install
* After a few seconds desktop crashed and graphics are all mixed up

Its not possible to interact with the desktop after this crash. I took
the screenshot using the shutter timer feature (I hit the capture button
before I crashed the desktop). The Unity launcher is the only part that
stays interactive. I dont know why it happens ONLY when firefox is open.
Maybe it has something to do with the Webapps preview. I recently
installed webapps preview and removed it. But I suspect it was not
completely removed.

If you think I should open a new bug, please let me know. I dont know
how to collect debug info after the crash since I cant interact with any
applications.

[Bug 165865] Re: markers must take object's stroke color (SVG 1.2 feature)

2010-08-01 Thread aras
I would like to request this as well. Without reading this bug description all
the way, I wouldn't have figured this out. I was drawing on a black background,
and the markers of course did not show up. So as mentioned several times above,
this can be a show stopper.
Thanks,

[Bug 44562] Re: [nvidia] Switch user causes screen resolution to change

2009-08-13 Thread Aras Saulys
This problem is an issue for me on Intrepid. I am running:
* amd64
* fglrx 8.57.2 (date Jan 14 2009)
* ati 9800 running at 1920x1...@60hz
* kernel 2.6.27-14-generic

When this issue occurs I see
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
* (II) AIGLX: Resuming AIGLX client after VT switch
* (EE) fglrx(0): Cannot get requested mode 0 x 0 @ 0.00
* (EE) fglrx(0): Falling back to last mode in modelist 320 x 200 @ 60.00

This suggests that the wrong mode is being passed during user switch.
I'm not yet sure where the issue lies. Fooie.

[Bug 1678184] Re: APST quirk needed for Samsung 512GB NVMe drive

2017-04-20 Thread Aras Zagros
I have a Dell XPS 15 9550 (i7-6700HQ 16GB-RAM 4K 512GB SSD Samsung).

I'm experiencing the same problem that @Ben has described.

My story: I went from 16.04 to 16.10 (no serious issues with the
previous versions) and then 17.04 almost a week ago, everything with the
previous versions was great but seems like 17.04 has two really
bothering issues with my device, this one and "slow mouse pointer
issue".

Guys seems like there isn't any solid fixes so far. Should I disable
"APST" too?

The same exact problem on 17.04 after upgrading from 16.10.

I tried different mouses, wired/wireless and xset command in terminal
but no luck so far.

I can't change the mouse speed at all.
