[Bug 194748] Re: HP Scanjet 2400 does not work with ubuntu

2009-04-29 Thread Antonio Sánchez
HP recommends us follow this steps in order to support this scanner

The HP driver contains calls to libsane.so. Unfortunately, libsane.so
lacks the sanei_usb module.

To add this module,

1) Obtain the SANE distribution from www.sane-project.org.
2) add "sanei_usb.lo" to the "EXTRA" line in backend/Makefile.in:
diff -e backend/Makefile.in ../sane-backends-1.0.13.hp/backend/Makefile.in
71c
EXTRA = sane_strstatus.lo ../sanei/sanei_init_debug.lo ../sanei/sanei_config.lo
../sanei/sanei_usb.lo
.
3) follow the SANE README build and instructions. This sequence of
instructions appears to install in /etc/sane.d and /usr/lib:

cd sane-backends-1.0.13
configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc
make
su
make install

By now, I only have this issue after suspend-to-disk. I'll try to
reproduce it under other situations.

How does your BIOS identify itself (mark and version)?

I've found a dirty fix to make sound available again:

You have to obtain kernel source and remove or comment line 17138 and
recompile it:

alsa-kernel/pci/hda/patch-realtek.c:17138,

{ .id = 0x10ec0272, .name = "ALC272", .patch = patch_alc662 }

[Bug 496928] [NEW] fast-user-switch-applet hangs and disappears from panel

2009-12-15 Thread Antonio Sánchez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fast-user-switch-applet

We use fast-user-switch-applet as default method for shutting down
computers in schools. Our users (400.000+) report us that using a single
user of the system at school f-u-s-a disappears (look at the attached
capture) and they can't do a clean shutdown of the computer.
Furthermore, f-u-s-a eats a lot of CPU (50%+).

Our users (students and teachers) doesn't have wnough knowledge of a
linux system for killing the process and restart it so they have to
force shutdown of the computer to continue working.

This behaviour only appears when computers are connected to the net of
the school. The system has the possibility of login against school's
LDAP (OpenLDAP) server. This behaviour appears sometimes in all the
computers of the classroom at the same time.

When this happens you can see at the /var/log/auth.log file the next
lines:

Dec 14 15:30:01 pc236-0 CRON[8544]: pam_unix(cron:session): session opened for
user root by (uid=0)

This bug affects Ubuntu 9.04 f-u-s-a default package, but also affects
current version in Karmic 9.10.

Now we are testing with a fast-user-switch-applet backport from karmic in
jaunty:
Package: fast-user-switch-applet

[Bug 496928] Re: fast-user-switch-applet hangs and disappears from panel

2009-12-15 Thread Antonio Sánchez
This is a problem of our system configuration:

We had a script that run every X minutes by cron looking for changes in
/etc/passwd to avoid that someone in a school could achieve root
privileges in the system.

When f-u-s-a detects a LDAP server running, watch /etc/passwd, and
suddenly LDAP connection gets lost f-u-s-a gets hanged as I reported
before.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I mark this bug as invalid.

[Bug 389040] Re: Realtek ALC272 not working in 9.04 but its working under 8.10

2009-09-01 Thread Antonio Sánchez
Hi Leann, Chris,

I've tried with karmic installing linux-image-2.6.31-9-generic package
with these results:

usua...@nb200:~$ cat /proc/version_signature
Ubuntu 2.6.31-9.29-generic

1) playback through internal speakers: Not OK
2) speakers mute when headphones plugged in (and sound is heard through
headphones): Not OK, headphones don't work.
3) recording through the internal mic: OK
4) recording through an external mic: Not OK, when an external mic is plugged
gnome-sound-recording is still using internal mic.

[Bug 480171] [NEW] Wrong keys combination in Toshiba Tecra M5

2009-11-10 Thread Antonio Sánchez
Public bug reported:

Using karmic and jaunty in a certain laptop model (Toshiba Tecra M5)
some keys combination doesn't print at the screen (terminal, Openoffice,
...) the right result.

This is the behaviour:

- Right Shift + M: It's like right clic with the mouse.
- Left Shift + M (2 times): writes a capital M first time but second time
doesn't write anything. It's not posible to write "MM".
- Right Shift + Ñ: writes Ñ (capital) + one blank space "Ñ "
- Left Shift + Ñ: correct result.
- Right Shift + X: correct result.
- Left Shift + X: writes "ªX".

This happens with several keymaps (ES_es, EN_uk, EN_us). This didn't
happen with older versions of Ubuntu.

[Bug 389040] Re: Realtek ALC272 not working in 9.04 but its working under 8.10

2009-08-24 Thread Antonio Sánchez
Hi Leann,

thank you very much for your kernel packages. We spend a lot of time
compiling to apply patches.

Using linux-image-2.6.28-15-generic_2.6.28-15.51~lp389040oga1_i386.deb
over a Jaunty fresh install:

- Sounds works through speakers
- When plug headphones, speakers mute properly and sounds go through headphones.
- I'm not able to record any sound using the internal mic with
gnome-sound-recorder.

Using linux-image-2.6.31-6-generic_2.6.31-6.27~lp389040oga1_i386.deb in
Karmic we obtain the same behaviour.

I'll try to test sound recording with an external mic.

We have the same results as Chris has:

[Bug 1440210] Re: KWin crashes multiple times a day and often has to be restarted manually.

2015-05-04 Thread Antonio Sánchez
Just in case it helps:

Kwin crashes on moving windows to virtual desks with cube animation
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347144

Moving window between virtual desks by dragging. Cube animation
selected. No problem if cube animatio is unselected.

Kwin restart causes lost of effects, but changing the compositor back to
OpenGL in Sytemsettings -> Hardware -> Display and Monitor -> Compositor
restores them.

Actually, the problem is wobling effect. If it is unchecked there is no
bug.

[Bug 1258247] [NEW] Wrong "Troubleshooting Apache" in "ApacheMySQLPHP" community page for Ubuntu 3.10

2013-12-05 Thread Antonio Sánchez
Public bug reported:

Explanations in

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ApacheMySQLPHP#Troubleshooting_Apache

don't work in Ubuntu 3.10. Not in my case.

But his worked for me:

echo "ServerName localhost" | sudo tee /etc/apache2/conf-
enabled/fqdn.conf

I got the idea from here:

http://tfountain.co.uk/blog/2013/10/18/fixing-apache-ubuntu-13-10

It seems newer versions of apache have changed some directory and
configuration structure.

2014-12-06 Thread Antonio Sánchez
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected trusty

** Description changed:

Kubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) just installed

System resumes or locks screen correctly. It also correctly displays
  resume screen.

But then keyboard seems to be locked, I can't move to buttons or
password field, not even using the mouse. The mouse pointer moves
normally but clicking on fields do nothing, it seems the controls are
  disabled although display as enabled.

Once I was able to display the mnemonics of buttons pressing 'Alt', but
either way they didn't respond to the action.

I just only able to power off the computer and restart.
