[Bug 194748] Re: HP Scanjet 2400 does not work with ubuntu
HP recommends us follow this steps in order to support this scanner The HP driver contains calls to libsane.so. Unfortunately, libsane.so lacks the sanei_usb module. To add this module, 1) Obtain the SANE distribution from www.sane-project.org. 2) add "sanei_usb.lo" to the "EXTRA" line in backend/Makefile.in: diff -e backend/Makefile.in ../sane-backends-1.0.13.hp/backend/Makefile.in 71c EXTRA = sane_strstatus.lo ../sanei/sanei_init_debug.lo ../sanei/sanei_config.lo ../sanei/sanei_usb.lo . 3) follow the SANE README build and instructions. [Bug 496928] [NEW] fast-user-switch-applet hangs and disappears from panel
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: fast-user-switch-applet We use fast-user-switch-applet as default method for shutting down computers in schools. Our users (400.000+) report us that using a single user of the system at school f-u-s-a disappears (look at the attached capture) and they can't do a clean shutdown of the computer. Furthermore, f-u-s-a eats a lot of CPU (50%+). Our users (students and teachers) doesn't have wnough knowledge of a linux system for killing the process and restart it so they have to force shutdown of the computer to continue working. This behaviour only appears when computers are connected to the net of the school. The system has the possibility of login against school's LDAP (OpenLDAP) server. This behaviour appears sometimes in all the computers of the classroom at the same time. [Bug 496928] Re: fast-user-switch-applet hangs and disappears from panel
This is a problem of our system configuration: We had a script that run every X minutes by cron looking for changes in /etc/passwd to avoid that someone in a school could achieve root privileges in the system. The mouse pointer moves normally but clicking on fields do nothing, it seems the controls are disabled although display as enabled. Once I was able to display the mnemonics of buttons pressing 'Alt', but either way they didn't respond to the action. I just only able to power off the computer and restart. + --- + ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.6 + Architecture: amd64 + CurrentDesktop: KDE + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=a063171c-0c02-4edc-83f8-f6ca2b72ae80 + InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-01-01 (339 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Release amd64 (20131016.1) + IwConfig: + eth0 no wireless extensions. + + lono wireless extensions. + MachineType: System manufacturer System Product Name + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcFB: 0 nouveaufb + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-40-generic root=UUID=cd361788-655c-4adf-84a7-3276569a74ca ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-40.69-generic 3.13.11.10 + RelatedPackageVersions: + linux-restricted-modules-3.13.0-40-generic N/A + linux-backports-modules-3.13.0-40-generic N/A + linux-firmware 1.127.10 + RfKill: + + Tags: trusty + Uname: Linux 3.13.0-40-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to trusty on 2014-04-21 (228 days ago) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin mysql plugdev sambashare sudo www-data + _MarkForUpload: True + dmi.bios.date: 09/27/2011 + dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. + dmi.bios.version: 1002 + dmi.board.asset.tag: To be filled by O.E.M. + dmi.board.name: P8H61-M LE + dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. + dmi.board.version: Rev x.0x + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Asset-1234567890 + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Chassis Manufacture + dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr1002:bd09/27/2011:svnSystemmanufacturer:pnSystemProductName:pvrSystemVersion:rvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:rnP8H61-MLE:rvrRevx.0x:cvnChassisManufacture:ct3:cvrChassisVersion: + dmi.product.name: System Product Name + dmi.product.version: System Version + dmi.sys.vendor: System manufacturer ** Attachment added: "AlsaInfo.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181237/+attachment/4275020/+files/AlsaInfo.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181237 Title: Kubuntu 13.04: System Frozen when Resuming from Suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1181237/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
