[Bug 893992] Re: Messaging Indicator does not go blue on new mail in Thunderbird

Nishant: could you please check if workaround mentioned in bug #841116
comment 7 fixes the problem for you? If this is the case this bug should
be marked as a duplicate of bug #957922, which is in progress.

[Bug 841116] Re: no color change when new messages arrive

2012-05-19 Thread Antonio Roquentin
I realized that the original report was about messages *from empathy*
not turning the icon blue - not from thunderbird. The discussion somehow
drifted to thunderbird notifications.

Luca: could you please confirm that the original problem concerned
empathy messages? Otherwise this should be marked as a duplicate of bug
#957922.

[Bug 597035] Re: CPU usage dependent crackling on USB and internal sound card

2012-05-13 Thread Antonio Roquentin
I am experiencing a similar bug since upgrading to 12.04 on a Dell
Inspiron 9400 but only when using my external USB NuForce Icon DAC. The
internal sound card

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition
Audio Controller (rev 01)

works fine (at least I can't hear any crackling there). I can provide
further information if needed.

The DAC used to work just fine on 11.04. Since I am using this laptop as
a media center and to play music I would have to go back to 11.04.

[Bug 893992] Re: Messaging Indicator does not go blue on new mail in Thunderbird

2012-05-14 Thread Antonio Roquentin
If you find that the envelope does not turn blue for all messages but
only occasionally, this is probably not a bug but a feature, see Bug
#957922 and #841116. Thunderbird now uses some algorithm to decide which
(supposedly important) emails should turn the icon blue and which not,
Since the user is not aware of this, the behavior may appear as random.
This is possibly a duplicate of either #957922 or #841116.

[Bug 841116] Re: no color change when new messages arrive

2012-05-14 Thread Antonio Roquentin
According to the specifications of the messaging menu
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MessagingMenu), the enveloppe icon should
eventually mark emails and chat messages in different ways (blue or
blue+small bubble). Therefore the issue mentioned in comment 9 is less
critical than one may think. Personally I'd rather have all emails
turning the icon blue by default and have an option in the preferences
to enable the current filter so as to reduce the "noise" when needed. I
believe others may find the current behavior confusing, especially if
upgrading to Precise from an older release.

[Bug 682492] Re: Evince: Save Settings as default doesn't work

2012-08-15 Thread Antonio Roquentin
I can confirm the reports of #16 and #17: settings are not applied when
the opened file is in /tmp. I am on ubuntu 12.04 with evince 3.4.0.

I tried dumping the output of gsettings before and after selecting 'Edit
- Save Current Settings As Default'. The variable is correctly set to
true by evince

org.gnome.Evince.Default show-sidebar true

but the setting is ignored when opening a pdf file located in /tmp. Same
issue apply to window size. This bug is annoying since many applications
use /tmp to store local copies of pdf files.

I believe we should open a separate bug report.

[Bug 1070034] Re: problems changing window focus in Unity Spread

2013-04-05 Thread Antonio Roquentin
I have been experiencing this bug for quite a while in 12.04 64 bit. It
occurs to me rather often, some windows remain inaccessible using arrows
navigation, although it's difficult to say if there is a precise pattern
or arrangement of windows that lead to the issue. However, I cannot
reproduce the bug on a 32 bit install of 12.04, with the same set of
compiz plugins and only slightly different options.

Any hints how to debug this? I would be very happy to provide additional

[Bug 957922] Re: Thunderbird's messaging menu highlight helps some people but not many

2012-05-15 Thread Antonio Roquentin
Please provide some more flexibility. The people who find their way into
the preferences are likely to want more freedom in the way their
messages are filtered.

For instance, an extra Priority-based criterion (e.g. "Do not show low
priority messages" as an additional entry) could be a simple way to
allow further customization without adding too much clutter. In fact I
can define a filter in Thunderbird that lowers the priority of messages
I consider unimportant, so they don't activate the messaging icon. This
already works fine for me with the current default.
