[Bug 668641] Re: GNOME does not load theme after innstalling NVIDIA non-free driver
I've had the same problem after using the "Repair broken package" option from the restore console. This command saved me and restored my Gnome environment like it should be : $ sudo rm -rv ~/.gconf/ Then you'll need re-apply your Gnome theme and Compiz, if you made any modification to the default conf. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668641 Title: GNOME does not load theme after innstalling NVIDIA non-free driver -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 370173] Re: laptop overheats and suddenly shuts down/off
I can confirm this bug still exists in Ubuntu 10.10 (and 10.04). I have a Toshiba U500-119 and the issue mainly comes from a buggy DSDT table. Vendors are totally unable to compile their DSDT table correctly for non-Windows OS. After fixing errors in my DSDT table and recompiling it (then include it in my kernel...) I could use my laptop in normal conditions with a working fan. Please find my DSDT table in attachment, What I needed to do was replacing "L0r" by "And" in PowerResource methods. There are still some warnings but I don't know how to fix them. The workaround was found here and can be applied to any buggy DSDT tables : http://art.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1473317&page=3 This bug is extremely severe, it was kicked in 2009 and is still not solved, even if it applies to many laptops. ** Attachment added: "DSDT table with fixed" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/370173/+attachment/1834803/+files/dsdt.dsl -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/370173 Title: laptop overheats and suddenly shuts down/off -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
