[Bug 300014] [NEW] Character Encoding Warning Won't Stop Popping Up!
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: thunderbird Ubuntu version: 8.04 (Desktop) Thunderbird package version: 2.0.0.17+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1 Because I've selected "Western Encoding", which works best on my laptop, I continue to get the Character Encoding warning every time Thunderbird automatically saves the draft message I'm working on. Even after acknowledging the warning, it comes up again at the next auto-save, and again when the message is sent. I have purposely set my character encoding to Western (instead of Unicode) so, why do I continue to receive the Character Encoding warning? Shouldn't there be a way to stop the warning after the first time it warns you? This is extremely annoying when typing long messages!! Can't a patch be made for this?? [Bug 349519] Re: Switch Desktop Mode corrupted settings
I beg to differ with the Launchpad janitor above. There is still one item in this bug that I can't seem to fix. I'm using the Intrepid (8.10) version of UNR on my HP Mini 1000. The same problem happened to me as others above. (BTW, thanks to Neil Patel for your hard work in getting a fix out.) Using a combination of procedures above (https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/desktop- switcher/+bug/349519/comments/16 and https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net /desktop-switcher/+bug/349519/comments/85), I got my classic desktop functioning correctly again, complete with panels. The problem is, when I switch back to the UNR desktop, I still have the upper and lower panels from the classic desktop. Going back through the procedures above, I can't see anywhere where this problem was reported or addressed. Can anyone help me? I'd really like to get the UNR desktop working right again as it's what I use most often. [Bug 349519] Re: Switch Desktop Mode corrupted settings
bouligab, I have the same problem but, I'm using UNR on Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid. My libgtk2.0-0 is version 2.14, the dependency is for version 2.16. Are you using Intrepid or Jaunty?? I hope that somebody can produce the new desktop-switcher so it can be installed on legacy versions of Ubuntu. The only reason I don't upgrade to Jaunty is because of this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/netbook-remix/+bug/318942 As soon as that's fixed, I'm upgrading.
