[Bug 392529] [NEW] grub2 does not detect other operating systems

2009-06-26 Thread Andy Braben
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

Installed Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 2 on a separate partition to 9.04 on the
same disk.

The 9.10 installation did not detect the Ubuntu 9.04 partition, making
the 9.04 partition unbootable.

Worked around problem by modifyfing /boot/grub/grub.cfg.

[Bug 282813] Re: toshiba satellite pro a40 failing to detect correct screen resolution

2008-10-17 Thread Andy Braben

I have completed a general update today, which included a number of xorg
packages. Since rebooting the laptop after the update, the problem is resolved.

Regards.
Andy.

[Bug 61072] fstab: duplicate partitions shown on gnome desktop

2006-09-18 Thread Andy Braben
Public bug reported:

In Edgy with the new fstab, the line like this:

UUID=b14d49e3-77b8-4484-b47b-db3278b93dd9 /media/hda5 ext3

shows up with two icons on the desktop: hda5 and hda5(2). Replacing

[Bug 985539] Re: Awkward graphic glitches (texture corruption) in Unity/Nux when opening lot of applications (intel video card)

2012-10-20 Thread Andy Braben
I suffered from this bug with Ubuntu 12.04, intel graphics card and the
glitchy buggy screen.

I upgraded to ubuntu 12.10 pre-release some time ago and after an update
suffered incorrect screen resolution which made it unusable. About a
week ago I updated the system and got the correct resolution back, and
have not suffered the glitchy buggy screen, but instead the computer
locks out when I hit the dash button, but if I don't hit the dash button
I have a fully useable system. (so I won't see the Amazon results!)

I realise this should now be for a different bug report but It would be
interesting to see if anyone else has the same results when upgrading.

[Bug 976294] Re: Characters destroyed see screenshot

2012-04-30 Thread Andy Braben
As I am suffering from this bug, I will try Gnome classic under Ubuntu
and report back, but I can assure you I have a seperate partition
running Debian Testing/Gnome3 which has no problems at all.

Also, Unity run fine on 11.10 and 12.04.

Re: [Bug 976294] Re: Characters destroyed see screenshot

2012-04-30 Thread Andy Braben
I have upgraded unity to 5.12 and as soon as it was booted and I hit the
dash, the computer froze, so no, this does not fix the problem.

Regards,
Andy.

[Bug 976294] Re: Characters destroyed see screenshot

2012-04-30 Thread Andy Braben
I have run Gnome Shell and it does not have the same problem at all. It
runs fine. There is no Dash button to press to freeze the system, so it
runs smoothly. No "garbled" text appears either.

[Bug 820918] Re: The screen gets garbled after a few hours of use

2012-04-30 Thread Andy Braben
I suffer the same garbled text after a period of activity. Then pressing
the dash (via keyboard or mouse) will lock the screen out completely.
Holding the power button in is the only way round the screen freeze.

2012-11-12 Thread Andy Braben
This bug also happens on downloading a .odt file within a web browser

To recreate:

Download .odt file selecting to "open with LibreOffice"

Document loads with no menus.

Click on another window.

Click the Libre Office document window

Document loads with menus correctly.

I have everything working normally now with one exception, which is when I
download any Libre Office type of document from GMail or by any other means
through Firefox. When I do this, LO opens with the menus, but the menus do
not do anything, click any menu, nothing happens. To resolve, simply click
Firefox (or any other window you have open) then go back to LO and the
menus work perfectly.

The developers were probably very concerned that no menus were appearing
when clicking an LO document in Nautilus (which is now resolved) that the
Firefox issue got overlooked.
