[Bug 387043] Re: osmgpsmap python bindings placed in site-packages rather than dist-packages
A minimal patch for the stable jaunty release of osm-gps-map is attached ** Summary changed: - [jaunty] Python bindings placed in wrong directory + osmgpsmap python bindings placed in site-packages rather than dist-packages ** Description changed: - When the migration from python 2.5 to 2.6 was made in the jaunty - development cycle, it would appear python-osmgpsmap was not rebuilt - against the new version. + During the jaunty development cycle, the transition was made from site- + packages in python, to dist-packages. The configure script in the + python-osmgpsmap didn't pick up the right location, until I just fixed + this in a patch. However this is not available in jaunty. So when a user + tries to use the module, they are told it cannot be found. + + ==Solution== + The bug was addressed in the development version by modifying the python/configure and python/aclocal.m4 files in the package, using a patch. The script now picks up the correct location for the python modules. + + ==Test Case== + TEST CASE: Using a python prompt, typing "import osmgpsmap" doesn't produce any errors. + + TEST CASE: Alternatively, use this script, execute it, and observe the + map loading. http://andrewgee.org/stuff/osmgpsmaptest.sh ** Attachment added: "osmgpsmap-jauntypatch.debdiff" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28628918/osmgpsmap-jauntypatch.debdiff -- osmgpsmap python bindings placed in site-packages rather than dist-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/387043 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 292141] [NEW] Marvell 88E8056 network adapter not functioning
Public bug reported: I have been using intrepid on my desktop for quite a while. Since alpha 4, I believe. I haven't had a problem with my network adapter in this time. Last Saturday, I ran some updates. I boot up this machine, until today, since installing these updates. But now the network adapter is not working at all, in Ubuntu. I grabbed the final release intrepid cd and upgraded to that point. The problem still occurs. Even networkmanager isn't showing any icon, because there are no network adapters detected. I have tried disabling and enabling the sky2 module. I have tried ifdown eth0 and ifup eth0, as suggested on another bug (#138611), but it seems to be a different issue, as that doesn't fix it. [Bug 292551] [NEW] NetworkManager not running on computer startup
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager I ran some updates 8 days ago, on intrepid. I hadn't started up the computer since then, until yesterday. When I booted up, I found that the network manager applet was missing from the notification tray. I can see from System Monitor that nm-applet is running. I found that by running "sudo /etc/init.d/NetworkManager start" everything goes back to normal. So for some reason, the network manager service is not starting on boot up. I don't have anything in /etc/network/interfaces as seen in bug #289466. I have attached a syslog file, as instructed to in bug #43379. From syslog, I can't even see NetworkManager trying to start up, until I started it manually (at time 09:53:28 in log). [Bug 271706] [NEW] Volume control wheel on laptop is sticking in ubuntu
Public bug reported: I'm running up-to-date intrepid. I have a volume control wheel on the side of my Toshiba U300 laptop. This volume control did work as expected in hardy. It operates like a scroll wheel on a mouse, in the way that it has specific points at which it sends a signal. When I got to these points on hardy, the volume would just increase or decrease by one block. With intrepid it gets the volume to go up one block, then waits for a second and then keep turning the volume up constantly without stopping. I've found if I hold a key on the keyboard down, for example Ctrl, it stops it temporarily. When I release Ctrl it start zooming off increasing or decreasing again. I have found if I swap desktops by holding down Ctrl Alt Left or Right, it stops it zooming off increasing or decreasing completely. I'm sorry if the above was a bit confusing. [Bug 199186] Re: Segmentation Fault on start up
I've now run rhythmbox with apport and made the following bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/205164 -- Segmentation Fault on start up https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 199186] Re: Segmentation Fault on start up
Rhythmbox doesn't provide me with any .crash files in /var/crash/ it just quits with "Segmentation Fault (Core Dumped)". When trying to manually invoke apport with rhythmbox it provided me with a chance to open a new bug, which is the other bug that is a duplicate of this one. Do you suggest I open a bug on apport then? -- Segmentation Fault on start up https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 199186] [NEW] Segmentation Fault on start up
Public bug reported: When I start up rhythmbox, I receive just a "Segmentation Fault (core dumped)" message on the command line. I've looked in /var/crash/ but I see nothing relating to rhythmbox. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When I use the Places -> Connect... box to try an connect to a SMB share, it fails and produces an error message saying "The specified location is not mounted". [Bug 103805] Re: Very Slow Secure Websites
You're Wrong. I don't think a secure site should take 1 minute to load on a Core2Duo machine. [Bug 103805] Re: Very Slow Secure Websites
Well... Let me expand this then. I can go to this secure site on my laptop, on the same internet connection, and the secure server goes fast. I can go to a secure site on the problem PC, using a different browser suchas mozilla or opera, and it goes at the expected speed But whenever I use firefox on the problem PC, the secure site can take up to a minute to load, or even time out loading!
