[Bug 212406] Re: iwl4965 wireless issues in gutsy and hardy
1) Tested with Hardy and backported 1.2.25, worked like a charm. 2) Upgraded to Intrepid (iwlagn 1.3.27ks), works well enough. I had to rmmod/modprobe iwlagn a couple of times because the connection sometimes drops after prolonged use and cannot be re-established. After rmmod/modprobe everything works again. 3) Installed linux-backports-modules (although I'm not sure if there is any difference in iwlagn); will report on success. -- iwl4965 wireless issues in gutsy and hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212406 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 212406] Re: iwl4965 wireless issues in gutsy and hardy
Upgrading to linux-backports-modules helped -- I haven't had any module problems. However, what does happen still is that the connection freezes -- nothing comes in/out although the connection is established. After reconnecting to the access point everything goes back to normal. This happens ~1-2 times a day, mostly when doing something network intensive like scp-ing large files or skyping. Not sure this is related to the module problem, though, as I didn't have to rmmod/modprobe the module since the upgrade. -- iwl4965 wireless issues in gutsy and hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212406 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 23580] Re: Console/Gnome keyboard always English
Testing Gutsy. Booting live CD brings the computer up with a US keymap (which is understandable as no keymap choice is given). Starting the installation and selecting a different keymap immediately kicks in both in X windows and in the console, with international console characters missing (only iso8859-1 seems to be available). After reboot, X keymap is fine (both keymap and the fonts), but the console keymap (although set properly) still misses iso8859-2 fonts; moreover, national characters produce a funky looking symbol (a thick double vertical line) that is not iso8859-1. I'll try installing Hardy and report my findings. [Bug 23580] Re: Console/Gnome keyboard always English
Testing Hardy. Booting live CD now prompts for a language, but not for keyboard variant. I would, for example, prefer English language with a Slovene keyboard. All other effects are exactly the same as on Gutsy, i.e. X-applications work flawlessly, but console fonts and encoding is completely off. Not only are the fonts wrong, their association is wrong as pressing accented characters has weird effects like changing all characters to caps (including console prompt etc), long backspaces (erasing the whole line), etc. -- Console/Gnome keyboard always English https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/23580 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1683865] Re: Intermittent complete system freeze
After two days of testing, I am happy to report that the upstream rc7 version indeed fixes the freezing issue. It still hangs up on suspend/resume, but that's likely unrelated. As I am now using the upstream kernel I'm not sure whether I should report that as ubuntu bug. Any advice would be appreciated. In the mean time I will tag this bug report appropriately. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Zesty) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1683865 Title: Intermittent complete system freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1683865/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1683865] Re: Intermittent complete system freeze
Of course, seconds after I posted my previous message, the OS froze again, so the upstream does *not* fix the issue. I can't readily find how I can tag the bug as kernel-bug-exists-upstream, but I'll keep looking. The frequency of freezes seems to have reduced substantially, but since they are intermittent, it might have been a fluke that it hadn't frozen for two days. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1683865 Title: Intermittent complete system freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1683865/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1683865] Re: Intermittent complete system freeze
After further testing I can report that the parent issue has indeed been resolved upstream. The subsequent lockups are related to the nvidia module, not the reported issue. Thus, upgrading the kernel will solve the issue. ** Tags removed: kernel-bug-exists-upstream ** Tags added: kernel-fixed-upstream -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1683865 Title: Intermittent complete system freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1683865/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1058089] Re: Intel 5100 AGN (iwlwifi) hangs frequently -- intermittent operation
I finally managed to get the problem fixed. The issue is not with the iwlwifi modulce, it is with ubuntu's new dns resolver. I edited /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf and commented out the dns=dnsmasq line. From then on, all problems have disappeared. I am refiling this bug as the dnsmasq bug. ** Package changed: linux-backports-modules-3.2.0 (Ubuntu) => dnsmasq (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1058089 Title: Intel 5100 AGN (iwlwifi) hangs frequently -- intermittent operation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1058089/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1058089] [NEW] Intel 5100 AGN (iwlwifi) hangs frequently -- intermittent operation
Public bug reported: When connecting to a home network, the wireless connection is established and does not drop, but package throughput works intermittently. When it is working, it works perfectly: the throughput is fast and reliable. It seems that traffic helps it. The issue is most notable on http requests. Flood pinging the router (or connecting to it) drops no packets during these breaks, but anything outside is unreachable. At the same time other computers experience no problems. These paucities in operation last from minutes to tens of minutes. Reconnecting to the wireless or rmmod/modprobing the module does not help. The usual proposed remedies (passing 11n_disable=1 and/or swcrypto=1) make no obvious difference. The most curious observations is that, during these intermittent breaks, /established/ traffic comes through. For example, an active gtalk session will remain active and fully responsive while all other traffic is interrupted. The stock iwlwifi for 12.04 (3.2.0) does not work either. Using the most recent firmware. The wireless adapter worked perfectly with the 2.6 kernel, and it still works with Mint 11. Other devices have no issue with the AP.
