[Bug 971033] [NEW] dd corrupts some .iso data resulting in corrupted file system

2012-04-01 Thread Anadon
Public bug reported:

I have attempted to copy four different .iso's (and for a few, I re-
downloaded and tried again) on 4 different USB drives. Recently, this
method of .iso copying no longer worked. The data from and .iso I use
is changed at some point resulting in a corrupted partition on the USB
drive and an unbootable device.

I have used as a normal user, sudo, default settings and tweaked.
Nothing is working.

"dd
bs=100M if=/home/user/Downloads/target.iso of=/dev/sdb"

with and without sudo and with and without bs specified. i checked my
.isos again and they have the correct checksum.

my usb drives included 1 lacie key usb drive, and 3 low profile sandisk
drives.

sorry for grammar. Android touch keypads are terrible...

[Bug 929384] Re: nvidia drivers broken by the recent libc update on i386 arch

2012-02-11 Thread Anadon
I've had plenty of issues with my video/driver. There's still one with
unity corruption. I never had the performance hit, but that's because
I've been using the most recent drivers off of nVidia's site.

[Bug 823432] [NEW] multiple system breaks: GUI failure, boot failure, sloppy workaround

2011-08-09 Thread Anadon
Public bug reported:

Just updated using synaptic since updater was broken. Rebooted, and
first it booted to my desktop background and a desktop. No unity(not
even window borders) and minimal funcionality. I was able to get to the
systems settings menu through right clicking, kinda started unity and in
my attempts to stabilize it and close the terminal I started it in, it
closed and I was unable to get it working again. Rebooted. X11 didn't
start, to system hang after successful check battery state. Went into
the recovery menu, got into root terminal, started x "startx", then
still had troubles getting around (acted like a program/nautilus), but
got to another terminal and started to submit this. I was then able to
use that terminal to start unity as account "root". I have no idea
where the bug is, or what it could be, but I am willing to give whatever
info necessary.

[Bug 823977] [NEW] program ghosts in unity, minor initialization problem

2011-08-10 Thread Anadon
Public bug reported:

For the side dock, the first time on every boot I click the applications
menu, it pops up, but is not intractable, and stays on screen until the
dock is clicked again, at which point, only occasionally do bugs pop up
where when text is entered, the mouse becomes useless in selecting
programs, or when using a mouse, it sometimes will not accept keyboard
input.

When a program in uninstalled, its icon still shows up in the app menu
in the dock.

Again, for the top issue, the workaround is to click back on the dock,
then it works normally.

[Bug 832085] [NEW] repository keys invalidated--can't access all updates and packages

2011-08-23 Thread Anadon
Public bug reported:

http://pastebin.com/FKTe18Z9

I don't know how, but my system says the gpg signatures are invalid.
This is preventing me from re-installing grub so I'm in kinda a tight
spot. I do realize this is more a problem for the IRC, but its been
pretty dead the last few hours.

I do not know if this qualifies as a security problem, but because
packages cannot be counted on to update it could be.

[Bug 825383] [NEW] Ubuntu Start: only home page apps accessable

2011-08-12 Thread Anadon
Public bug reported:

I don't know if this is only my machine, but in 11.10 fully updated as
of this post, the Ubuntu Start icon which replaced the apps and file
search icons does not allow access to apps not immediately available at
its initial visible state. It does not throw any error, but rather does
not do anything.

I'm using it further, and mouse recognition is about 35 pixels high,
can't scroll, and there's an odd use of space at the bottom just taking
up room. Is gnome 3 workable? This is ridiculous.

[Bug 825383] Re: Ubuntu Start: only home page apps accessable

2011-08-12 Thread Anadon
For me, the "Ubuntu Start" icon on the dock. Every time I click it and
then try to select and of the "'X' apps" it closes, and there are some
other things that don't work right. Its not just repeatable, I can't
get it not to happen under any scenario. Also, the whole concept of the
"Ubuntu Start" option in the dock came as a surprise to me, so I have no
idea how it works. At this point, if you want to see for your self, I'd
let a Canonical employee remote desktop into my machine. It looks
normal when I click on the "Ubuntu Start" (or so I assume) but it closes
when I select something to select a program. With each update, the
behavior seems to drift a little though.
