[Bug 136278] Re: OpenOffice freezes/crashes with bad gtk-theme - various symptoms see dupes

2007-11-11 Thread Alfredo Gemma
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 131526 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131526

Bug Confirmed: OpenOffice 2.3.0. There is no evidence that switching to
standard themes is a workaround (in many clients affected by this bug It
does not solve the problem). The only workaround, in case you have
multiple printers defined, is setting the default printer and then print
directly.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 131526 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131526

This is a correction of my previous post.
Further analysis seems to demonstrate that the problem is related to the type
of "Controls" used by the theme.
On every client affected by this problem, just changing the controls of the
current theme with one of the default types include in Ubuntu, solved the
problem.

on the usb device enumeration step.
Attached you can find the apport file generated on uone of this machines.

Please fell free to get in touch with me for any further information you

[Bug 1300427] [NEW] Touchpad does not work on Fujitsu Celius with Ubuntu 14.04

2014-03-31 Thread Alfredo Gemma
Public bug reported:

Touchpad does not work after installing Ubuntu 14.04 on Fujitsu Celsius.

The only way to fix this issue is adding the following 2 lines to /etc/rc.local
and rebooting:
sudo modprobe -r psmouse
sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps

Should this be considered an issue or It is due to the "beta" stage of

2016-05-05 Thread Alfredo Gemma
I tried to install the upstream kernel, but I think there is a
substantial problem with wifi management.

This error occurrs while installing the Kernel:

libkmod: ERROR ../libkmod/libkmod-config.c:635 kmod_config_parse:
/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf line 8: ignoring bad line starting with

[Bug 1578610] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 - Bad support for Intel Wireless 7260

2016-05-26 Thread Alfredo Gemma
Hi Corey,

As you can see from the previous messages, Fix Released just means that
the bug has been fixed in the latest upstream kernel (v4.6) that I
tested.

After testing the kernel v4.6 I also verified that the Intel Wireless
7260 support is not an issue anymore, starting from the kernel v4.4 (I
had 4.3).

Omer,

As you can see reading all posts, the problem affects mainly empathy and
Update-Manager.

In this situation, are you asking to report twice the same bug: one
related to empathy package and the other for Update Manager?

Thank you.

[Bug 1411839] [NEW] Upgrading from 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1 to 1.3 breaks dual monitor configuration

2015-01-16 Thread Alfredo Gemma
Public bug reported:

Fujitsu Celsius H Series (Intel Core I7-4700MQ) with Nvidia Quadro
K1100M/PCIe/SSE2
After upgrading from 1 to 1.3, the dual monitor support does not work properly
anymore.
On the Secondary monitor is shown a black vertical line and the cursor moves
very slowly.
Downgrading solves the problem.

2012-10-21 Thread Alfredo Gemma
Public bug reported:

After Upgrading from 12.04 to 12.10 if unity gui is not showing launher
and taskbar, but just an empty desktop this could be a conseguence of
some missing libraries: libjbig0:i386, libtiff54:i386.

This problem seems to arise with ATI graphic card.

[Bug 888201] Re: After upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10 Ubuntu One has problems while retrieving the credentials

2012-03-07 Thread Alfredo Gemma
Hi Natalia.

As I told Roman in a previous post, I'm behind a proxy.
This is a typical situation in most companies, hence It is a big issue if
Ubuntu One does not provide any kind of proxy support.

Ubuntu One is less usable and fast than similar service (e.g. dropbox)
and the lack of features is dramatically limiting its adoption.

Thank you very much for your answer.

2011-12-04 Thread Alfredo Gemma
Yes, Roman, that's partially correct: a https proxy (443) is required like in
most company networks.
However, I think that the captcha problem does not depend on proxy support
because some Ubuntu 11.10 installations are affected , directly connected to
internet (no proxy).

Thank you in advance.

[Bug 888201] Re: After upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10 Ubuntu One has problems while retrieving the credentials

2011-11-30 Thread Alfredo Gemma
I'm afraid your suggestion has no effect.
I tried to use Ubuntu One on 10 different brand-new installations of Ubuntu
11.10 Desktop x64 in my company.
On every computer I tried to set-up a new account: captcha is not working on
every single case. It simply keeps loading not showing any characters.
I also tried to login with my existing account: I can confirm that in every
single case the same error (Ther was a problem while retrieving the
credentials) is shown. Please, note that I'm able to login with the same
credentials on the Ubuntu One website.

In my opinion we have 2 big problems here: the first is related to this
post, the second is a general usability matter.

1) SSO issues preventing correct captcha visualization during account
creation and login for existing accounts;

2) Missing http/https proxy support preventing Ubuntu one to be used in
most company networks.

Thank you.

[Bug 658445] Re: Ubuntu 10.10: proxy settings are not detected in some applications like empathy or update-manager

2010-10-13 Thread Alfredo Gemma
Thank you for your feedback, jeannich.

However, I think that the problem is more general and related to the
upgrade process on O.S. with a lot of packages installed.

I upgraded from 9.04 and 10,04 15 computers in total (13 Desktops and 2
Servers)

The upgrade process was successful on 9 computers while on the remaining
6 (5 desktops and 1 Servers with a LAMP stack using Lighttpd) I detected
problems related to the ScreeSaver package (unlock the screen was not
possible), security problems (every attemp to process a php page caused
a 403 error), proxy detection problems similar to the reported one.

In this scenario the only possible hypothesis is that in presence of
complex configuration, the actual upgrade corrupts some settings after
updating the packages.

[Bug 658445] Re: Ubuntu 10.10: proxy settings are not detected in some applications like empathy or update-manager

2010-10-17 Thread Alfredo Gemma
Tushar,

In that forum they just suggest to set the http_proxy variable in the
classical "fashion":

export http_proxy=http://login:passw...@proxy:port

Although exporting the http_proxy variable can be useful in some
occasion (i.e. with software not supporting explicitly proxies), in this
case can not be considered a solution and however, It is proven not to
work.

Thank you anyway for your feedback.

In my opinion, this bug can not be considered invalid: the upgrade process does
not take in account the new settings needed by lighttpd.
After upgrading, php stops working and It is needed a further intervention to
restore the situation.

Thanks.

[Bug 658445] [NEW] Ubuntu 10.10: proxy settings are not detected in some applications like empathy or update-manager

2010-10-11 Thread Alfredo Gemma
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

After upgrading from 10.04 or just after a fresh installation, proxy settings
are not correctly detected by empathy or update manager.
In Ubuntu 10.04, after setting a squid proxy in System -> Preferences ->
Network Proxy, empathy was able to connect to all the defined accounts and all
software channel were available in update-manager.
In Ubuntu 10.10, setting a proxy in System -> Preferences -> Network Proxy
prevents empathy from connecting to some or all accounts while using the
