[Bug 376085] [NEW] VNC server doesn't bring up login screen
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vnc4server When I run VNC server (package vnc4server on Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit) I am able to connect to it but there is no login screen. The screen I get is a gray stipple background and the standard X cursor. There is no login screen and/or any kind of menu. GDM has been configured to allow remote logins and in fact tightvnc server works fine and is able to run the login manager, whereas the canonical VNC server is not. This was tested with both xinetd-started server and with a manually started one. ** Affects: vnc4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- VNC server doesn't bring up login screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/376085 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 396169] [NEW] Microsoft Natural Keyboard 4000 messes up keypad keys
Public bug reported: Every 3 days or so, my Microsoft Natural Keyboard 4000 starts messing up the keypad keys. In a GOOD state, pressing the End key on the keypad would generate the following events: KeyPress event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x3a1, root 0x237, subw 0x3a2, time 5911446, (53,48), root:(727,74), state 0x0, keycode 87 (keysym 0xff9c, KP_End), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 0 bytes: XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes: XFilterEvent returns: False KeyRelease event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x3a1, root 0x237, subw 0x3a2, time 5911542, (53,48), root:(727,74), state 0x0, keycode 87 (keysym 0xff9c, KP_End), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 0 bytes: XFilterEvent returns: False Pressing Ins and Del keys work similarly. In a BAD state however, the situation is as follows: * End key - KP_End WITH pointer movement MotionNotify event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x3a1, root 0x237, subw 0x3a2, time 5799275, (38,33), root:(712,59), state 0x0, is_hint 0, same_screen YES KeyRelease event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x3a1, root 0x237, subw 0x3a2, time 5799395, (38,33), root:(712,59), state 0x0, keycode 87 (keysym 0xff9c, KP_End), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 0 bytes: XFilterEvent returns: False Note, that there is no KeyPress event, which makes the ley useless for the apps that expect it. * Del key - completely ignored * Ins key - strange KeymapNotify event.
