Jonathan, the upstream bug you pointed seems to be closed. Also, I don't see why hardcode every single device unless you leave an option for something like tz's patch. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.26-4-generic Testing the instalation of Intrepid Ibex on a eeepc, I noticed that the a 16Gb SDHC card wasn't being handled correctly. I could find the device's partitions nodes but not the device node, i.e. /dev/sdb1 and /dev/sdb2 are there but not /dev/sdb. The installation proceeds normally until the moment the message to remove the CD from the tray and press ENTER to reboot is displayed. The led on the external unit blinks several times but the CD is not ejected. Pushing the eject button also does not work. Pressing ENTER causes the netbook reboot normally and after that I can eject the CD by pushing the eject button on the unit. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity When Brazilian Portuguese is selected for instalation, the default timezone shown is Noronha (GMT-2). This is not really wrong as this is a valid timezone but very unusual. The usual one is São Paulo (GMT-3). This was the behaviour with Hardy so it's a regression. The change in the test in debian/rules was done because there is 3 possibilities: - Normal compilation (i386) - Maemo compilation (explicity using the flag --enable-maemo, not covered on debian/rules) - LPIA compilation, our case that enables the hildon interface (--enable-hildon) without using some changes applied by the previous situation (Maemo) So, yes, it should be refined listing only the differences (my mistake not do it) but the test hast to be there. Public bug reported: Doing a clean installation of Ubuntu 8.04, I noticed that no media player plugin is installed by default nor it's asked to do so if a page that needs something like that is accessed. This happens in pages that stream videos not flash-based IFAICT. [Bug 215821] [NEW] Bluetooth support not installed by default on Hardy
Public bug reported: Noticed today that bluetooth wasn't active in my Asus G1 notebook because bluez-utils wasn't installed. Once I installed the package the device was correctly detected and bluetooth was activated. I can't be sure if this was corrected recently as hardy Alpha 2 was installed in this notebook and it's being updated daily ever since. Hi Colin. I tried again and when the crash happens, if I switch to a console, my monitor goes blank and I can't get back. Try this way: at the first moment after the boot choose brazilian portuguese, boot normally and start the instalation but when you hit the keyboard part, choose USA. Here it crashes every time. [Bug 183311] Kernel oops when pairing via bluetooth with cellphone
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-3-generic Notebook Asus G1 running Hardy Alpha 3, kernel 2.6.24-3-generic. Bluetooth module don't report any errors but when trying to pair with a Motorolla cell phone, the whole process goes well until the message that the pairing was done shows up. At this moment the notebook freezes completely, there's no indication of what the oops is related to. No traces on the logs and even ssh to the box to try to catch something is useless, the system completely freezes becoming irresponsive even to SysRq. The only indication of a kernel oops is the Caps and Scroll leds flashing. The same pairing procedure worked flawlessly with Gutsy.
