[Bug 377344] [NEW] scrolling in flash heavy websites is staggered

2009-05-16 Thread Abhijeet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

1) Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope - released in April 2009.
2) Firefox 3.0.10+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.04.1
3) Smooth scolling of web page
4) Whenever there is a flash heavy website like, Facebook applications or say
www.ndtv.com, the content is displayed properly but the scrolling is very
staggered. It appears as if the content is being pushed and it moves with an
inertia like movement.

[Bug 377344] Re: scrolling in flash heavy websites is staggered

2009-05-16 Thread Abhijeet
I was using a Firefox add on Persona for Firefox 1.1. As per your
suggestion, I disabled it and the problem has been fixed. However, I
would appreciate if I can browse such sites even with Persona themes on.
Thanks, nevertheless, for the prompt solution.

Ya. I did that after posting the bug. I guess, henceforth I would prefer
command line interface over GUI. It's more verbose. [?]

Thanks.

[Bug 948279] [NEW] Close button protrude on left side

2012-03-06 Thread abhijeet
Public bug reported:

If you look closely to the screen shot which I have attached to the bug,
you will find the close button is little bit prodrude to the left side
of the red circle. This is only happening when applications are
maximized and do not see them when applications are unmaximazed. (
Minmize and maximize buttons are perfectly fine)

This does not have any functionality issue but since I mostly use the
close button, it seems little odd to see a uneven red circle.

To certain extend this issue got resoved after I resized the launcher
icons from appearance setting. With the default setting the gap is
definitely visible. So I feel this issue has to be checked in a freshly
install system where it is easily reproducible.

Yes, switching to another workspace and then back fixes the issue.

When can we expect the fix?

[Bug 888222] [NEW] Can't type to select folder in Nautilus

2011-11-09 Thread Abhijeet
Public bug reported:

when in ubuntu 11.10 beta I opened nautilus clicked in the main window and
typed the first letters of folder 1 name until it highlighted it, then pressed
"enter" which opened the folder, but inside folder 2 I cannot keep typing to
search for the next folder name. It seems to inhibit typing, until I click
anywhere in the main window again, then type folder 2, press enter, then I
cannot type anything to search for folder 3 and so on.
In ubuntu 11.04 I open nautilus and just begin to type because I know the
specific folder names I going to - for example: Open nautilus, type k-e-, and
highlights "Kevin", press enter, It opens Kevin folder. Then type b-i-l- and it
hightlights "bills" folder, press enter and it opens. This is not happening in
nautilus 3 of ubuntu 11.10 beta.

I still see there is lag in window switching while typing "Alt+Tab"...
It takes some time to show up the small application windows where we change to

Is it the default behavior of Ubuntu 11.04?

[Bug 695931] [NEW] Any button once pressed should always remain pressed in Filter bar

2010-12-31 Thread Abhijeet Pathak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: transmission

The Filter bar allows to filter the torrents using buttons All, Active,
Downloading etc...
Once the button is clicked appropriate torrents are shown and the button goes

[Bug 832465] Re: upgradeprovision: guess_names: 'realm =' was not specified in supplied /etc/samba/smb.conf. Please remove the smb.conf file and let provision generate it

2012-08-09 Thread Abhijeet Anand
G'day Jelmer,

I have followed all the advices given here, except for #12, however, I
am having the same problem as everyone else here had.

First, I was getting the following error:
/var/lib/dpkg/info/samba4.postinst: 14: /var/lib/dpkg/info/samba4.postinst:
/usr/share/samba/setoption.pl: Permission denied
So I made it an executable. Interestingly enough it does not have execute bit
set by default. Nevertheless, the actual problem persists.

Secondly, I started the error as mentioned in this thread many a times and for
which you suggested a solution.
ProvisioningError: guess_names: 'realm =' was not specified in supplied
/etc/samba/smb.conf. Please remove the smb.conf file and let provision
generate it

Well, removing smb.conf didn't really help, as it gave birth to yet another
error. This is more of a vicious circle.
ERROR: Invalid smb.conf
unable to open smb.conf at /usr/share/samba/setoption.pl line 22.

Line 22 is basically trying to open /etc/samba/smb.conf
If the file is present, then Provisioning fails, if it is not, then
setoption.pl fails.

A little info on my system:
Ubuntu 12.04
Samba version to be installed: 4.0.0~alpha18.dfsg1-4ubuntu2

I will give #12 a try and see if that helps, however, IMHO I would
rather prefer a solution than a workaround :-)

Thanks and Regards,
Abhi

[Bug 990945] Re: samba-common doesn't read workgroup from smb.conf

2012-08-12 Thread Abhijeet Anand
G'day again,

I seem to have found a solution for my problem; I think it is more a
workaround than a solution IMHO. All I had to do was to reinstall samba-
common a couple of times and make certain changes to /etc/samba/smb.conf
in between re-installation attempts.

Steps I followed:
1. Changed:
realm = DOMAINNAME -> realm = DOMAINNAME.SOMETHING
This is weird because, installation script itself populates this variable with
the value from workgroup and then complains
@jelmer: I guess you need to look into this.

2. sudo aptitude reinstall samba-common
Everything goes fine, however, now the installation will complain about absence
of two shares, viz, NETLOGON and SYSVOL because, allegedly, I was trying to
install samba as a Domain Controller; which I was not. Despite removing the
line "server role = dc", it didn't help as the install script would create it
back and then whinge. I searched on how to NOT create a Domain Controller,
however, the suggestions from samba.org didn't help at all. The suggestions
were to have the following two config parameters:
"passdb backend = guest" and "security = share"

Anyway, since that didn't help, I simply uncommented the lines for
NETLOGON and created the SYSVOL share, following the default
recommendation. The recommendation was to look at some default config
file for domain controller.

Finally, after all this, the installation succeeded.

@jelmer: I originally wanted to install Samba4 as a simple file-server,
however, I could not understand why the install script would constantly
try to install it as a DC. Could you please shed some light on this and
how could I only install it as a simple file-server, like we could with
samba3?

Thanks again mate.

Cheers,
Abhi

PS: While I was trying to investigate how to change workgroup name fetched by
samba-common, I stumbled upon some interesting and amusing debconf scripts. One
in particular had an amusing comment.
samba-common.postinst: # Oh my GOD, this is ugly. Why would anyone put these
samba-common.postinst: # characters in a workgroup name? Why, Lord, why???
