[Bug 298017] Re: "save as" should provide current name and file extension

2008-11-17 Thread ABCC
The bug I ran into in EOG's 'Save As' dialog was very similar to this
one. I tried to save an image opened from a web page viewed in epiphany
with the only available option 'Save As' . The file I viewed was called
fj54oyj45.tmp, trying to save it to a name without file extension proved
impossible. To avoid advertently converting the image to another
filetype I had to go back and figure out what it was before saving it
again.

Eye of Gnome is too focused on file extensions (e.g. .png, .svg, .jpg)
rather than mime-type hence this problem occurs both when saving files
as when opening them. Theres a bug about that too:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eog/+bug/172416

That turned out to be a known bug in Eye of Gnome and the link to the
EOG bug was provided:

[Bug 177349] Mistake in gnucash documentation

2007-12-18 Thread ABCC
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnucash-docs

Found in GnuCash Tutorial and Concepts Guide V2.0.1 (distributed
alongside gnucash v2.2.1)

Section 2.9 The Basics - Putting it all together

Subsection 3.

The image captioned with "This image shows the effect of changing the
display options." is exactly the same as the previous one and hence
shows no change.

[Bug 459005] Re: Can not log into openbox from GDM in Karmic Beta/RC

2009-11-26 Thread ABCC
By writing

exec openbox-session

in ~/.xinitrc, stopping gdm and manually starting Xorg with startx
.gnome-settings-daemon seems to work fine when started this way, and no
system files need to be changed. In terms of practicality I guess it's
also quite a bad method of logging in

[Bug 446679] [NEW] Release Notes can't be opened when Firefox is already running.

2009-10-08 Thread ABCC
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

If firefox is launched before ubiquity, clicking the 'Release Notes'
link gives a 'Firefox is already running but is not responding' error.
The release notes are not opened in a new tab of the running firefox
instance. When both applications have been restarted the problem does
not occur.

The problem occurs in both 1.99.28_amd64 and, after upgrading the live
environment, 1.99.31_amd64.

Steps to reproduce:
- boot 9.10beta_amd64 livecd [ and `sudo aptitude install ubiquity` ]
- launch firefox
- click the 'Install Ubuntu 9.10' icon
- click the 'Release Notes' button

[Bug 502481] Re: Openbox start is unnecessarily delayed by karmic default splash screen

2010-01-12 Thread ABCC
You can disable the splash screen to work around this:

cp /etc/dbus-1/system.d/xsplash.conf ~/xsplash.conf
sudo rm /etc/dbus-1/system.d/xsplash.conf
sudo touch /etc/dbus-1/system.d/xsplash.conf

[Bug 431217] Re: package ttf-mscorefonts-installer 2.6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-10-25 Thread ABCC
The problem seems to be that the wget command used is timing out too
quickly. The command used is:

wget --continue --tries=1 --dns-timeout=10 --connect-timeout=5 --read-
timeout=300 $QUIET_ARG --directory-prefix . --no-directories --no-
background $URLROOT$ff

When I tried to download any of the links from the error output with a simple
wget command it always worked. My system currently has some issues with slow
name resolution so I've added the server it was repeatedly timing out on to my
/etc/hosts file:

216.34.181.59 downloads.sourceforge.net
212.219.56.167 kent.dl.sourceforge.net

After that the package installed properly

[Bug 659434] Re: Font/image corruption after resume from hibernate

2010-10-26 Thread ABCC
Same problem here, also using an intel video card, in this case a
gma4500. Unlike you I use openbox with xcompmgr. It does seem to be
video driver or Xorg related.
