[Bug 1983769] Re: Jammy daily images not building
If you're facing issues with building "Jammy daily images," it usually refers to Ubuntu's daily build images for the Jammy Jellyfish release (Ubuntu 22.04). Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue: 1. Check Build Logs Check the build logs for detailed error messages. Look at the CI/CD or build system logs (like Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.) for specific errors that caused the build failure. 2. Verify Dependencies Ensure that all required dependencies and tools are installed on the build server. Missing dependencies can cause build failures. 3. Disk Space and Quota Check for sufficient disk space and user quotas. Sometimes builds can fail due to low disk space or exceeded quota limits. 4. Network Issues Verify that the build server has a stable internet connection. The build process may need to download packages or other resources, and network issues can disrupt this. 5. Check for Updates in Source Repositories If you’re building from a source repository, ensure that it’s up-to-date and doesn’t contain broken or incompatible code. 6. Compatibility and Configuration Issues Double-check configuration files (e.g., yaml, json, or bash scripts) for errors or incompatible settings. Ensure that your environment matches the expected configuration. 7. Known Issues or Bugs Check Ubuntu’s official channels or community forums for any known issues with daily builds for Jammy. There may be ongoing bugs or patches that could be affecting the builds. 8. Restart and Rebuild Sometimes a clean restart or a complete re-build can resolve issues caused by temporary states or corrupted build files. If the problem persists, it would be helpful to provide more specific error messages or logs to diagnose the issue further. https://ukcorteizsclothing.com/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1983769 Title: Jammy daily images not building To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-rootfs/+bug/1983769/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2083798] [NEW] bluetooth headsets do not switch to handsfree profile automatically
Public bug reported: Problem: When using Bluetooth headset, the audio profile won't switch to Handsfree when an application is using the microphone. e.g. "arecord", or Firefox with conference call services. Note that, manually switching the profile to Handsfree does make the recording work, the issue is the lack of automatic switching. Steps to reproduce: 1. Connect to a Bluetooth headset 2. Ensure there is Handsfree profile in Sound page in GNOME Settings, in the drop-down list of Output Devices but do not click into it. Use the Headset profile. Also ensure that A2DP Sink is used. 3. Run command "arecord -d 5 output.wav", speak to the mic, and observe any change to Sound settings Expected: 1. The Output Devices list should switch to Handsfree profile (HSP/HFP) of the same Bluetooth device, and corresponding entry in the Input Devices as well. 2. When playing the audio with "aplay output.wav", there should be a speech recorded from the Bluetooth headset. Actual: 1. The Output Devices list still using the Headset profile and A2DP Sink, and the Input Device is kept using the original, or unlisted if no other input device is available. 2. Unable to record the audio, no sound from the audio file, or the audio is recorded from other microphones. [Bug 2039252] Re: [needs-packaging] The packages ntp and ntpsec are not equivalent
Another problem with this just being replaced with a package that is not feature-compatible: Requiring a switch to unicast also necessitates firewall changes across the entire network, if multicast or broadcast was previously in use. Firewalls between the clients and the NTP servers will either require a stateless ACL entry added for UDP/123 bi-directionally, which is undesirable, or perform inspection on udp/123 packets toward the server so they can maintain state entries for those UDP sessions every time a client polls the server. The configuration change is simple, but it's not nothing. Sites with limited available WAN bandwidth (think analog modems, low- speed wireless links, fractional PRI, BRI, satellite with analog modem uplink, etc) can also experience a negative impact from the extra traffic, including more packet loss, higher delay, more clock spread among the systems behind that link, and impact to other traffic that needs to use that link. A single multicast or directed broadcast over those links achieves reasonable clock synchronization with minimal impact and can be QoSed high enough to be unlikely to drop when congested. With bi-directional unicast traffic, keeping that high DSCP means NTP would now have a much larger impact on all other traffic. Reducing it would lead to more queued or dropped NTP packets, unpredictably, for each client. None of these issues are major and all have workarounds or solutions available, either with ntpsec or by switching to a different package. But they are cases impacted by this swap to add to the list of reasons ntp silently being swapped for ntpsec is non-ideal while being aliased as ntp. I'm all for ntpsec being the new default (or chrony or timesyncd), but ntpsec is not ntp and it is a breaking change to treat it like it is. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2039252 Title: [needs-packaging] The packages ntp and ntpsec are not equivalent To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ntp/+bug/2039252/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2078851] Re: saslauthd wrong permission of /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd
Bryce, just for clarification: saslauthd starts just fine without the fix, but postfix will be unable to authenticate because it can't communicate with saslauthd. This effectively prevents outgoing mail submitted via smtp. It used to work fine on previous LTS release, upgrading to 24.04 broke it because the standard service config now nukes the permissions on every service start. On my system, the upgrade from 22.04 to 24.04 effectively turned into a "denial of service" for outgoing mail until i put in my workaround. So this affects existing servers that are going to be upgraded. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2078851 Title: saslauthd wrong permission of /var/spool/postfix/var/run/saslauthd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cyrus-sasl2/+bug/2078851/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2083775] [NEW] Seeds and metapackages for Tegra
Public bug reported: Hi, Canonical maintains a set of kernels and images for NVIDIA Tegra Orin based systems for Ubuntu 22.04/jammy in collaboration with NVIDIA, with intentions to also support 24.04 and probably other series in the future. The image definition for Tegra images is fairly simple: https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu-images/tree/ubuntu-server-tegra-igx.yaml?h=jammy but has to manually pull a number of packages such as: - nvidia-tegra-defaults (currently just ships a GRUB config to expand the console= parameters to include the specific Tegra serial console) - grub + shim as to have a path to update these boot artifacts on installed systems Contrast this to RPi images which just refer to seeds https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu-images/tree/ubuntu-server-pi-arm64.yaml this is because there are RPi specific seeds pulling in the bootloader – flash-kernel (ubuntu-seeds/platform/raspi-common) – and raspi specific packages – rpi-eeprom (same seed) Similary, the Tegra images don't currently include a WiFi stack, but just like RPi, they should as the Tegra system-on-modules come with a WiFi chip that we want to enable out of the box in Ubuntu. Here again, this is achieved in Raspberry Pi images by listing wpasupplicant in the raspi-common seed used in both desktop and server images. Hence, I think we need to add tegra seeds similar to the raspi ones, and similar metapackages. In the future, probably the bootloader bits should be selected through some more scalable mechanism somewhere between ubuntu-image and seeds. Wireless support should perhaps be in some kind of Ubuntu for IoT seed or similar, as to not clutter server, but share a common definition of how we expect to deliver WiFi in RPi like embedded systems. We also want to have Tegra seeds to have a mean to pull packages into main, such as nvidia-tegra-defaults. Best, ** Affects: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083775 Title: Seeds and metapackages for Tegra To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/2083775/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2083775] Re: Seeds and metapackages for Tegra
On the topic of which packages to pull for WiFi support in our images, I've checked seeds and images for jammy; Raspi defines all packages in seeds alone; in the foundational platform seeds, we have: - netplan.io always installed through the minimal seed - wpasupplicant installed in desktop-common and raspi-common seed In Ubuntu seeds: - (network-manager) as recommends in the desktop-minimal seed - wireless-tools in the desktop-common seed - systemd-networkd is always there because it's part of the main systemd package (NB: wireless-regdb is typically a linux kernel dependency, and is not directly listed in seeds.) So I'm assuming that for our headless IoT images much like the Raspi ones, we should: - assume netplan, systemd-networkd to always be there - we should install wpasupplicant through a new tegra-common seed that we'd use from our tegra server images; in the meantime, we would list this package directly in the image definition ** Description changed: Hi, Canonical maintains a set of kernels and images for NVIDIA Tegra Orin based systems for Ubuntu 22.04/jammy in collaboration with NVIDIA, with intentions to also support 24.04 and probably other series in the future. [Bug 335761]
(In reply to Raman Gupta from comment #100) > Furthermore, the positioning of these windows is often simply wrong, showing > up on the top left corner many times, or other weird behavior. That seems like a bug in KWin - it should not create a new window in the top left corner unless there's a really good reason. > Has anyone considered rethinking the overall approach Wayland takes to > window positioning? Or proposed a Wayland protocol or something that would > allow applications to position their own windows? AFAIK the best (most likely to move forward) work about giving apps more control over new window positioning is `ext-zones` (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland- protocols/-/merge_requests/264) that is being discussed and has a KWin prototype implementation. This isn't moving in any sort of speed actually relevant to an actual client implementation, but maybe if IDEA devs can hop in on the discussion and offer an perspective and an actual client implementation (based on the KWin prototype) - maybe it can move things forward. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335761 Title: Placement policy 'Remember' by default for all windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-default-settings/+bug/335761/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2083285] Re: Ever Diminishing support for lenovo Helix 2
Let me at least place a closing remark here. After some weeks of an unusable system, I have done nothing more than completely wipe the fresh install of 24.04.1, and done an install of 22.04.5. And, to somebodies surprise, everything once again works. From the set automounts (for which you sent me to askubuntu), and all else. Except of the bugs that I already had filed for 22.04, that is invisible grub boot menu and display trouble over the dock. I am sure, if anybody else happens to have this type of lenovo Thinkpad, he might well want to know that neither upgrade nor fresh install will deliver any useful system. If you guys were fair, you'd add this as a remark into the Release Notes. To my own surprise, even the kernel 6.8 (automatically installed for 22.04.5 this time), doesn't seem to be THE culprit, despite of its crashes with 24.04.1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083285 Title: Ever Diminishing support for lenovo Helix 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/2083285/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2083593] Re: gdbus reports enable-animations as false when they are enabled
Reassigning to xdg-desktop-portal, which is the service you are contacting via D-Bus. However, there are different backends for this portal, e.g. xdg-desktop-portal-gtk, xdg-desktop-portal-gnome, xdg- desktop-portal-kde and I suspect the issue is in the backend you are using in that it doesn't match the gsettings key you are expecting. ** Package changed: glib2.0 (Ubuntu) => xdg-desktop-portal (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - gdbus reports enable-animations as false when they are enabled + Settings portal reports enable-animations as false when they are enabled in GSettings ** Changed in: xdg-desktop-portal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083593 Title: Settings portal reports enable-animations as false when they are enabled in GSettings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xdg-desktop-portal/+bug/2083593/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2083593] Re: Settings portal reports enable-animations as false when they are enabled in GSettings
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/750759/which-xdg-desktop- portal-am-i-currently-using shows some techniques to work out which portal backend you are using, and essentially boils down to what is configured in /usr/share/xdg-desktop-portal/portals/ and what the `XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP` environment variable is set to. If you are having this issue please check using the above and check if you are using the backend you expect or something else. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083593 Title: Settings portal reports enable-animations as false when they are enabled in GSettings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xdg-desktop-portal/+bug/2083593/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
