You have been subscribed to a public bug: Recently completed a fresh installation of Ubuntu 24.4 When apps are maximised to use full screen, clicks on buttons do not work and instead go through to whatever is behind the app. Restoring the app to a window rather than full screen clicks work normally. [Bug 2064576] [NEW] Jammy to Noble upgrade lost pivate use area Ubuntu symbol
Public bug reported: Hi, with the Noble upgrade I'm missing the Ubuntu Unicode symbol. I thought it might have been my setup, but I now have confirmation from 1 other Noble and 1 other Mantic user that it is missing - while I checked and on Jammy it is still present as of now. To re-check you want to see F0E0-1F in a ubuntu font for example via 1. go to http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/en/general-info/unicode.html 2. scroll to the line starting with F0E0 3. go into the browsers debugger and change the style to font-family: Ubuntu, "times new roman", times, roman, serif; 4. You will see the symbol in the last column I'll attach a few images showing the problem in Noble as of now. 1. a view of this in Firefox on Noble "ubuntu-unicode-nowFF.png" 2. a view of this in Chrome on Noble "ubuntu-unicode-nowChrome.png" 3. a view of the stripped down table as attached "TestPrivateAreaUbuntuFont.html" rendered as "table-noble.png" And for comparison: 4. the same table line rendered on Jammy with the Ubuntu symbol present in the last column "ubuntu-unicode-was-set-jammy.png" This was using https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_Use_Areas as discussed in e.g. https://askubuntu.com/questions/144379/ubuntu-logo-into-unicode-table. That is why you'd only see it in the Ubuntu font - which is fine, but why was it lost there? AFAICS the changelog of the package had no mention of this being dropped intentionally. But it had a few "New upstream version", yet checking that was not insightful either to decide if that was intentional. In fact all that 0.869 I can't really track down (0.84 is in development), but that might be my lack of knowing this particular project. P.S. This might have been an intentional change, in that case the bug might still serve as a place to find that information for others. ** Affects: fonts-ubuntu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064576 Title: Jammy to Noble upgrade lost pivate use area Ubuntu symbol To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fonts-ubuntu/+bug/2064576/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2063877] Re: Only black screen on boot with AMD Barcelo GPU without nomodeset
I can confirm that this bug also affects the notebook Lenovo V17 G4 IRU 83A20009GE (also called: Lenovo V17 Gen 4 i) with Intel Iris Xe Graphics. I've just installed Kubuntu 24.04 LTS on it ("secure boot" enabled in EFI Bios; otherwise simply by attaching installation USB stick). The installation worked smoothly and perfectly. First reboot brought a black screen. Nothing at all happened after the Lenovo logo. I tried this with a hard reset a couple of times. Then I executed the following workaround. - It's an UEFI installation, so pressed ESC key once after hard reset (after Lenovo logo). - Edited GRUB via pressing "e". - added "nomodeset" to line beginning "Linux ..." - started OS with CTRL + x - It worked, perfectly. OS does NOT work without nomodeset. Unlike the HP notebook (see above), the energy saving options seem to work. So this bug seems not to be so serious for the Lenovo notebook. I could return from manually induced "Standby" mode by simply pressing any key. Editing /etc/default/grub by adding "nomodeset" to "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT:" line works permanently as well. lspci -v | less: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Raptor Lake-P [Iris Xe Graphics] (rev 04) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Raptor Lake-P [Iris Xe Graphics] Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 255, IOMMU group 0 Memory at 60 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Memory at 40 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] I/O ports at 3000 [size=64] Expansion ROM at 000c [virtual] [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: Kernel modules: i915, xe sudo dmidecode -s bios-version: MCCN24WW ** Summary changed: - Only black screen on boot with AMD Barcelo GPU without nomodeset + Only black screen on boot with AMD Barcelo and Intel Iris Xe GPU without nomodeset -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063877 Title: Only black screen on boot with AMD Barcelo and Intel Iris Xe GPU without nomodeset To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2063877/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2064580] [NEW] Please update the package to 20240320.00
Public bug reported: Following on from previous similar package update requests @ LP: #2020762, LP: #1996735, LP: #1938553 and LP: #1911689 this bug is a request to update the google-osconfig-agent to the upstream version `20240320.00` @ https://github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/osconfig/releases/tag/20240320.00 This package has an SRU exception @ https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#google-osconfig-agent including an ageing exception detailed @ https://wiki.ubuntu.com/google- osconfig-agent-Updates There is some urgency in landing these changes to accommodate planned infrastructure changes on the Google Compute Platform. [Impact] This package is provided by Google for installation within guests that run on Google Compute Engine. It is part of a collection of tools and daemons, that ensure that the Ubuntu images published to GCE run properly on their platform. Cloud platforms evolve at a rate that can't be handled in six-month increments, and they will often develop features that they would like to be available to customers who don't want to upgrade from earlier Ubuntu releases. As such, updating this package to more recent upstream releases is required within all Ubuntu releases, so they continue to function properly in their environment. [Test Case] When a new version of this package is uploaded to -proposed, the following will be done: * an image based on -proposed will be built for GCE and published to the ubuntu-os-cloud-devel project * the GCE team will be asked to validate that the new package addresses the issues it is expected to address, and that the image passes their internal image validation. If all the testing indicates that the image containing the new package is acceptable, verification will be considered to be done. [Other Information] This bug is used for tracking of releasing the new upstream version for all supported series, as per the approved policy mentioned in the following MRE: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/google-osconfig-agent-Updates The updated package is not built for armhf and riscv64 due to upstream regressions but the package is not used on those architectures thus please release the SRU without the armhf and risc64 binaries. The package does not build for powerpc on Xenial, but this is OK since it is not used on powerpc either. ** Affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Mantic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Oracular) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Oracular) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: google-osconfig-agent (Ubuntu Mantic) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064580 Title: Please update the package to 20240320.00 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/google-osconfig-agent/+bug/2064580/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2064093] Re: if-up.d files do not have effect on ubuntu 24.04 LTS
It also looks like on 24.04, the if-up.d scripts aren't run at all when resuming from sleep. Before 24.04: - Boot - My if-up.d script that triggers for "IFACE=wlp0s20f3" gets properly triggered (it adds an IP alias to this interface using "ip addr add"). - Put ubuntu to sleep - Resume ubuntu - My if-up.d script that triggers for "IFACE=wlp0s20f3" gets properly triggered. After 24.04: - Boot - My if-up.d script that triggers for "IFACE=wlp0s20f3" gets properly triggered (it adds an IP alias to this interface using "ip addr add"). Apparently I could fix this by triggering this script with "IFACE=-all". For now I manually run the "ip addr add" command. - Put ubuntu to sleep - Resume ubuntu - My if-up.d script that triggers for "IFACE=wlp0s20f3" is not called (not even with "IFACE=-all"). The IP alias disappeared, so the interface did go down and get back up, but the script wasn't called at all. [Bug 2063983] Re: 24.04 Upgrade/Fresh Install results in black screen on reboot on AMDGPU system
I followed this advice (mentioned above): https://www.reddit.com/r/Kubuntu/comments/1cdko49/comment/l1uf573/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button It seems that "quiet splash" is the actual problem, not "nomodeset" (solution). I edited the GRUB entry as follows (with results added): 1) With only "quiet splash" (no "nomodeset"), default installation, fresh install of Kubuntu 24.04: only black screen, nothing happens. 2) Add "nomodeset" to "quiet splash": everything works perfectly. Also works permanently with editing of /etc/default/grub. 3) Delete "quiet splash" in GRUB and do not add "nomodeset" (or delete "nomodeset", if previously added): everything works perfectly (see Reddit link above). 4) Delete "nomodeset", after having added it to /etc/default/grub and updated grub previously, but leave the 'original' "quiet splash": computer hangs, completely unresponsive, after showing the following code: Booting a command list Loading Linux 6.8.0-31-generic ... Loading initial ramdisk ... 5) Again, boot without both "quiet splash" or "nomodeset": everything works perfectly. Also works permanently with /etc/default/grub. It went quite fast, but after "Loading initial ramdisk ..." I think the next code line was "enabling secure boot". It might be a problem with "secure boot" and "quiet splash". Secure boot is enabled in both my installations, so I can't try the other option ("secure boot" disabled in the EFI BIOS before installation). Workaround (for me): - Edit /etc/default/grub: the line "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=". Delete the words "quiet splash" (leave the quotation marks ''). - Run sudo update-grub -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063983 Title: 24.04 Upgrade/Fresh Install results in black screen on reboot on AMDGPU system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2063983/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2063877] Re: Only black screen on boot with AMD Barcelo and Intel Iris Xe GPU without nomodeset
Deleting "quiet splash" is the better workaround, rather than "nomodeset". The following is copied from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2063983 : I followed this advice: https://www.reddit.com/r/Kubuntu/comments/1cdko49/comment/l1uf573/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button It seems that "quiet splash" is the actual problem, not "nomodeset" (solution). Workaround (for me): - Edit /etc/default/grub: the line "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=". Delete the words "quiet splash" (leave the quotation marks ''). - Run sudo update-grub -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063877 Title: Only black screen on boot with AMD Barcelo and Intel Iris Xe GPU without nomodeset To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/2063877/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2064587] [NEW] Live usage from USB makes Windows ask for bitlocker key after reboot
Public bug reported: Environment: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS - USB created using rufus https://rufus.ie/ on windows 2 Dell computers - Latitude Windows 10 & 11 with BitLocker enabled storing recover key on TPM Steps to reproduce We used a live version of Ubuntu to check webcam functionality, first on windows 10 to see if I can test it, then on Windows 11. Both windows installation have BitLocker encryption active using TPM. Expected result After shutdown the live system and reboot the computer, Windows should start normally Actual result: It seems that ubuntu live usage (Try Ubuntu as choice) corrupt something and TPM asked for recovery key.
