I can confirm 100% this bug is still happening with 2.0.1 from hirsute- proposed, even with a brand new install, on a different disk (SATA SSD instead of NVMe Intel Optane 900p SSD), using 2.0.1 inside the installer and from first boot. I can reproduce it reliably within about 2 hours just using the desktop with google chrome (after restoring my google chrome sync, so common set of data and extensions), it always seems to trigger first on an access from Google Chrome for some reason - that part is very reliable - but other files can get corrupt or lose access including git trees and the like. So I am at a loss to explain the cause given no one outside of Ubuntu seems to be hitting this. It also, for whatever reason, seems to always cause my tampermonkey and lastpass extension files to show as corrupt - but not other extensions - very reliably happens every time. The only notable change from default is I am using encryption=on with passphrase for /home/user. I have not tested with encryption off. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1906476 Title: PANIC at zfs_znode.c:335:zfs_znode_sa_init() // VERIFY(0 == sa_handle_get_from_db(zfsvfs->z_os, db, zp, SA_HDL_SHARED, &zp->z_sa_hdl)) failed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/zfs/+bug/1906476/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1857392] Re: Window manager warning: Overwriting existing binding of keysym 37 with keysym 37 (keycode 10).
Daniel, To be honest, I'm not quite sure what this ticket is all about. If it's just that people see these lines in their log, then surely, it's not worth having an open ticket about. On the other hand, I'm saying that I have been investigating this for two weeks, and I can say with 95% confidence that when my laptop freezes, the very last thing I see in my syslog, and in journalctl is a spam output of these lines. If you do a search for "keysym, ubuntu, freeze, dell, laptop", I'm pretty sure you'll be down a rabbit hole with many other people reporting similar freezes (e.g. https://itectec.com/ubuntu/ubuntu- ubuntu-19-04-stops-working/). There's also an issue in gnome/mutter that looks like it may be closer to the origin, but I'm not sure at this point (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/606). Again, I'm just not sure. So, other than opening a vague ticket, do you have any suggestions as to where I can track this bug to the origin. Like I said, it's really killing our company's experience (we've got several new laptops running 20.04.1 LTS and none of us are using these machines for simple browsing -- in other words, it's critical that our work is not randomly lost due to a freeze). Also, note, I noticed this bug only once with the oem kernel (whereas it happened multiple times with the generic kernel). And also, I caught it once when I was explicitly looking for it to happen when I did a key press of one of the multimedia buttons (two key presses). ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues #606 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/606 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857392 Title: Window manager warning: Overwriting existing binding of keysym 37 with keysym 37 (keycode 10). [Bug 347532] Re: [jaunty] package grub-pc 1.96+20080724-12ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: sub-process pre-removal script returned 10
Just had exactly that problem on a 18.04 installation at the end. It was a EFI installation and grub wanted to remove "grub-pc". As described above, the prerm script tried to db_get the variable grub-pc/chainload_from_menu.lst. grub-pc version is the latest from bionic-update (2.04-1ubuntu35.2). -- prerm -- #!/bin/bash set -e case "$1" in remove|deconfigure) . /usr/share/debconf/confmodule db_get grub-pc/chainload_from_menu.lst < here the scripts aborts if $RET && test -e /boot/grub/menu.lst ; then ... --- Because of "set -e", the scripts aborts when the variable is not available. Looking into grub-pc's config script, i find this: db_input high grub-pc/chainload_from_menu.lst || true Maybe this would be a good improvement for the prerm script? LOL+ I had to major breakthroughs on this: 1. I found the right way in d/rules to get the .mount unit started 2. I had a great discussion about "the other POV" on this [1] and I must say that I agree. As much as this can be a comfort function it can also be a) less reasons to finally restart into upgraded code b) leave security vulnerable code around For that I think we really want to make this available, but also NOT enabled by default. As an opt-in that makes sense. Current plan - I'll prep changes along this one here that does: - install the .mount but NOT start/enable it (the admin has to opt in) The admin also can pick any other way he prefers to make /run/qemu not have noexec - define a /etc/.. place to enable this feature, and otherwise have the postrm not even copy the old bits. [Bug 1913963] Re: [Cherry Trail] [modeset] Cursor flickering on dual screen setup
Hi, first to say: I've been testing Ubuntu-Budgie. There is no option to run on Wayland. So I downloaded (2021-02-02) and installed Ubuntu 21.04 Desktop to perform the test and found some surprising results: 1. fresh installation, running on Xorg: the flickering is clearly visible. In fact, the cursor flickers, if anywhere on the screen some redrawing happens. To reproduce: open Term. A slight flickering is visible whenever the console cursor is disappearing and reappearing. This is also the case outside the Term window. Increase the effect by launching Firefox and browse to cnn.com. While opening the page, a lot of redrawing is happening (the little bullet in the tab, some line in the bottom about loading, and the many items on the page. During the pay load, cursor is flickering anywhere on the screen. 2. logout and login, this time on Wayland: No such effect. 3. logout and login, again on Xorg, again no such effect! Btw.: I cancelled to install updates to keep a stable environment, so just the version as indicated above. If you have any idea, how logging in on Wayland cured this effect (reinstalled two times to be sure), I might be able to check on Ubuntu- Budgie (where I can't simply select Wayland). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1913963 Title: [Cherry Trail] [modeset] Cursor flickering on dual screen setup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1913963/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1831039] Re: When using Wayland, the onscreen keyboard does not open in text inputs for non-GTK applications such as Firefox or Chrome
Firefox does do some things differently to what I would refer to as an "GTK app" so I don't count Firefox as a GTK app even though it uses some GTK. Using Xwayland may be a common factor but that's probably more of a correlation than causation. [Bug 1913739] Re: aws: properly support instance types with > 255 cpu cores
** Description changed: [Impact] To properly support instance types in AWS with > 255 cores we need to make sure that commit c40c1018ff1382f2d35df5129a6bcea3df6b ("iommu/vt-d: Gracefully handle DMAR units with no supported address widths") is applied across all our linux-aws kernels. [Test Case] Tests performed by AWS. [Fix] Apply/backport commit c40c1018ff1382f2d35df5129a6bcea3df6b. + For groovy it's a clean cherry pick. + + For Focal/Bionic the backport activity is to simply rename the patched + file. + + Only Xenial requires a little more backporting activity, in particular + we need to change the condition in free_iommu() checking if + iommu->iommu_dev is defined (instead of checking for iommu->iommu.ops, + that is not available in the 4.4 kernel). + [Regression potential] - The fix is affecting only intel IOMMU and it is an upstream fix, so the - regression potential is minimal. + This change allows to use DMAR units that were not used before (for + interrupt remapping). Theoretically this should provide a performance + improvement, but we should keep an eye about potential performance + regressions of drivers that are using IOMMU, in case they're using this + new behavior incorrectly. + + Moreover, the Xenial backport required an adjustment in free_iommu() to + check when we need to call iommu_device_destroy(), if the adjustment is + not 100% correct we could introduce a potential memory leak. ** No longer affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Hirsute) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1913739 Title: aws: properly support instance types with > 255 cpu cores To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-aws/+bug/1913739/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1913963] Re: [Cherry Trail] [modeset] Cursor flickering on dual screen setup
Have to add to the above: after first login, I rearranged the screens using the Display Settings. That creates a file ~/.config/monitors.xml. That file does some magic in preventing the flickering. However, it becomes effective only after logging out and logging in again, so I was mislead when testing the flickering above. Anyways: deleting the file, logging out, logging in (Xorg) and the flickering is back. Rearranging screens, logging out/in: flickering is gone. [Bug 1914225] [NEW] Emoji button and pack for screen keyboard
Public bug reported: This enhancement requests for ubuntu default screen keyboard (compared to windows 10 touch keyboard, not on screen keyboard) I aware that ubuntu offer "insert emoji" feature but it's not usable everywhere and keyboard shortcut method also the same. https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/06/use-emoji-linux-ubuntu-apps Furthermore, both methods cant use as force input to any text field or any limited environment as if it has built-in on screen keyboard I noticed there're few keyboard types but its annoying to use with every languages. Hello Łukasz, or anyone else affected, Accepted livecd-rootfs into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd- rootfs/2.664.15 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification- failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Changed in: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Focal) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1914217 Title: 20.04.2 studio images FTBFS: "No kernel output for lowlatency- hwe-20.04!" [Bug 1914239] [NEW] ubuntu-20.04 pip3 ignores /etc/pip.conf
Public bug reported: The pip3-20.0.2 from python3-pip package, and also installed with "python3 -m venv" (ensurepip module), ignores /etc/pip.conf. Based on https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/user_guide/#config-file the /etc/pip.conf should work. Also it does work properly if original pip-20.0.2 is reinstalled to a venv from PyPI. Steps to reproduce: 1. Add special package index URL to /etc/pip.conf, for example [global] index-url = https://download.zope.org/ppix 2. Try to install a package from your special index Expected result: * Packages from your index are available. Current result: * Only PyPI packaged are available. We are trying to use this functionality to provide a local cache of PyPI using Artifactory - to speed-up creating virtual environments inside short-lived Docker and lessen PyPI bandwidth. We are working around this by copying the file to ~/.config/pip/pip.conf, but we'd like to make it work system-wide. vagrant@ubuntu-focal:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS Release:20.04 vagrant@ubuntu-focal:~$ apt-cache policy python3-pip python3-pip: Installed: 20.0.2-5ubuntu1.1 Candidate: 20.0.2-5ubuntu1.1 Version table: *** 20.0.2-5ubuntu1.1 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-security/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 20.0.2-5ubuntu1 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: python3-pip 20.0.2-5ubuntu1.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-65.73-generic 5.4.78 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-65-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.14 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip Date: Tue Feb 2 12:32:07 2021 PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: python-pip UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: python-pip (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug focal uec-images -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1914239 Title: ubuntu-20.04 pip3 ignores /etc/pip.conf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-pip/+bug/1914239/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Message transferring could be an issue - [Others] // original description Input: - OpenStack Pike cluster with ~500 nodes - DVR enabled in neutron - Lots of messages Scenario: failover of one rabbit node in a cluster Issue: after failed rabbit node gets back online some rpc communications appear broken Logs from rabbit: =ERROR REPORT 10-Aug-2018::17:24:37 === Channel error on connection <0.14839.1> (10.200.0.24:55834 -> 10.200.0.31:5672, vhost: '/openstack', user: 'openstack'), channel 1: operation basic.publish caused a channel exception not_found: no exchange 'reply_5675d7991b4a4fb7af5d239f4decb19f' in vhost '/openstack' Investigation: After rabbit node gets back online it gets many new connections immediately and fails to synchronize exchanges for some reason (number of exchanges in that cluster was ~1600), on that node it stays low and not increasing. Workaround: let the recovered node synchronize all exchanges - forbid new connections with iptables rules for some time after failed node gets online (30 sec) Proposal: do not create new exchanges (use default) for all direct messages - this also fixes the issue. Is there a good reason for creating new exchanges for direct messages? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1789177 Title: RabbitMQ fails to synchronize exchanges under high load To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1789177/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1914243] [NEW] coulnd able upgrade to 2020.04
Public bug reported: An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. Yes, the two kernel are on the same level - I did a rebuild since the above patch is common code and the kernel needed to be build on all significant architectures - that's what I did based on the PPA.
