[Bug 1566437] Re: Scrolling randomly stops working
Getting this with 1.91 on Arch, it likes to happen during package updates for some reason. I found a hacky workaround - add this to your $PS1: \[\e[?1049l\e[?2004l\e[?1006l\e[?1002l\e[?1001r\e[?1l\] It'll fix it as soon as you get to a prompt. Given how randomly it happens, I believe there is a real bug in Terminator; but if you want to force the broken state, just open 'mc' and run 'pkill mc' from another terminal, your scrolling will be broken. A way to debug this kind of thing is to run e.g 'mc > trace.txt'. Then type 'exit', hit return, and mc will quit. You will get all the escape sequences from mc in trace.txt to inspect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566437 Title: Scrolling randomly stops working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bash/+bug/1566437/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1838133] [NEW] realtek r8822be kernel module fails after update to linux kernel-headers 5.0.0-21
Public bug reported: On July 24th I upgraded to the latest linux-headers-5.0.0-21 as part of the dist-upgrade for latest packages in Disco Dingo 19.04. I didn't notice that wifi was no longer working because at work I exclusively use a wired Ethernet connection. Today, however, when I tried to use my realtek r8822be wireless card, I discovered that it was totally unresponsive and did not work with wpa_supplicant / wpa_cli even when invoked manually from the command line (let alone with NetworkManager). When the problem occurred, I was using 19.04's latest kernel 5.0.0-21. I then rebooted and selected kernel 5.0.0-20 from GRUB menu. "uname -a" shows that I am using the previous kernel version: Linux pj 5.0.0-20-generic #21-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jun 24 09:32:09 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux With this kernel version as well as linux-headers-5.0.0.20, linux- headers-5.0.0-20-generic, my realtek wireless card works fine. While booted into 5.0.0-20 kernel, here are the realtek kernel modules that are loaded: # lsmod | grep r8 r8822be 692224 0 mac80211 806912 1 r8822be cfg80211 671744 2 mac80211,r8822be r8169 81920 0 Hopefully this realtek wireless regression can get fixed in the next minor kernel version. [Bug 1833435] Re: RFC: Add url/urls/mirrors attribute for product items
Hi Dan and Stéphane, thank you very much for the support. So, what is the solution choice? Probably, the better choice is `urls` or `mirrors` so it's possible inside LXD code handle failover with a secondary mirror. So, for a recap: Solution a) { "datatype": "image-downloads", "updated": "Sat, 04 May 2013 01:58:57 +", "content_id": "sabayon:images:download", "products": { "sabayon:0.1:arm": { "arch": "arm", "stream": "devel", "versions": { "20190111": { "items": { "uec.tar.gz": { "ftype": "lxc.tar.gz", "urls": [ "http://mymirror.edu/lxd-images/sabayon/myimages.tar.gz";, "http://mymirror2.edu/lxd-images/sabayon/myimages.tar.gz"; ], "sha256": "xx", "md5": "797e2d488c799eab0a8eb09a9c1ff4a3", "size": 7314153 }, ... } >From LXD client-side the logic could be that if `urls` is not empty I get a random entry from url array and I try to fetch image else use path field as now. Solution b) { "datatype": "image-downloads", "updated": "Sat, 04 May 2013 01:58:57 +", "content_id": "sabayon:images:download", "products": { "sabayon:0.1:arm": { "arch": "arm", "stream": "devel", "versions": { "20190111": { "items": { "uec.tar.gz": { "ftype": "lxc.tar.gz", "path": "/lxd-images/sabayon/myimage.tar.gz", "mirrors": [ "http://mymirror.edu";, "http://mymirror2.edu/sabayon/"; ], "sha256": "xx", "md5": "797e2d488c799eab0a8eb09a9c1ff4a3", "size": 7314153 }, ... } With this solution, `mirrors` contains the hostname with an optional prefix and from LXD client-side if mirrors have values then a random field of mirrors field is used and value of path field is used for creating image URL (mirrors[0]+path) Please, let me know how we want to proceed so I try to push a PR to LXD project after my holidays. [Bug 1838151] [NEW] Poor quality audio with modern Bluetooth headsets in HSP/HFP. Missing wide band speech support.
Public bug reported: Bluetooth HSP/HFP audio quality is poor on Ubuntu comparative to all other major platforms (Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, Android, iOS). Modern Bluetooth headsets (such as the Bose QC series headphones, many others) are capable of using HFP 1.6 with mSBC 16kHz audio encoding. As it currently stands, Ubuntu defaults to only supporting HSP headsets using 8kHz CVSD, and is incapable of supporting HFP 1.6 at this time. The ChromiumOS team recently tackled this issue - https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=843048 Their efforts may assist in bringing this to Ubuntu, however it appears that there are quite a lot of differences considering they have developed their own audio server solution etc. The Bluetooth Telephony Working Group published the HFP 1.6 spec in May 2011 - https://www.bluetooth.org/docman/handlers/downloaddoc.ashx?doc_id=238193 Patches have been proposed in the past for this issue to the kernel and PulseAudio: PulseAudio: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/245272/ Kernel: https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-bluetooth/msg76982.html It appears that the Chromium OS team applied the same kernel patch: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromiumos/third_party/kernel/+/77dd0cb94c1713a8a12f6e392955dfa64c430e54 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 19.04 Package: pulseaudio 1:12.2-2ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.0.0-20.21-generic 5.0.8 Uname: Linux 5.0.0-20-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.10-0ubuntu27.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: jnappi 2777 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat Jul 27 11:08:29 2019 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-11-04 (629 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.10 "Artful Aardvark" - Release amd64 (20171018) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: pulseaudio UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to disco on 2019-07-18 (9 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 06/07/2016 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: R07ET67W (2.07 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 20FW000TUS dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: SDK0J40705 WIN dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: None dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrR07ET67W(2.07):bd06/07/2016:svnLENOVO:pn20FW000TUS:pvrThinkPadT460p:rvnLENOVO:rn20FW000TUS:rvrSDK0J40705WIN:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNone: dmi.product.family: ThinkPad T460p dmi.product.name: 20FW000TUS dmi.product.sku: LENOVO_MT_20FW_BU_Think_FM_ThinkPad T460p dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T460p dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO ** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug disco -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1838151 Title: Poor quality audio with modern Bluetooth headsets in HSP/HFP. [Bug 1838152] [NEW] gnome-shell freezes on notification arrival (fixed upstream)
Public bug reported: Sometimes certain notifications make the desktop unresponsive for a few seconds and then gnome-shell crashes and all extensions are reloaded. [Bug 1820173] Re: Screen brightness buttons change gain instead of brightness
I have a similar netbook called Dell Inspiron 11 3162 in which this is reproducible. Changing brightness with the FN (function) key combinations change the gamma of the screen instead of the actual brightness. It's a fake brightness change, like the one Redshift can do if you're familiar with it. If I go to the settings and open Brightness, I can move the slider there and change the brightness as expected. It's just the key combination that doesn't work as we expect. I have tested Lubuntu 19.04 and Fedora 30 LXQt in their default settings. In both this is reproducible. I don't have these systems installed right now. I might try Lubuntu 19.04 in the coming days and attach the requested log files here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1820173 Title: Screen brightness buttons change gain instead of brightness To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-meta/+bug/1820173/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1838155] [NEW] Getting rid of /bin has broken amgtar
Public bug reported: amgtar checks the realpath (i.e., resolving symlinks) before running sensitive binaries such as /bin/tar with elevated privileges. Moving the tar binary from /bin/tar to /usr/bin/tar breaks this check. This results in the following error when trying to run /bin/tar under privilege: amgtar: '/bin/tar' binary is not secure The obvious fix is to change the compiled-in tar path to /usr/bin/tar instead of /bin/tar. This can be done by passing the GNUTAR environment variable to the configure script. As a workaround, one may update /etc/amanda-security.conf file to whitelist /usr/bin/tar. [Bug 1451286] Re: crontab -r deletes cron entries without asking for confirmation
I'm glad my initial stubborness is leading to this avalanche of users echoing me. I feel all your pain, I have been there and it sucks! I would suggest this update/patch needs to go into not only the new versions of Ubuntu, but also the LTS distribution repos also, as a stability bugfix. I made a ticket in the Mint repos about the bug called systemd and they insta-banned me, lol. I still run Ubuntu 14.04 because I am not interesting in running systemd as pid1, or at all. I'll probably be off to slackware soon. It's been real, Ubuntu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1451286 Title: crontab -r deletes cron entries without asking for confirmation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cron/+bug/1451286/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1832472] Re: cdc_ncm floods syslog unneccessarily
Apols but looking you guys are knowledgeable with cdc_ncm With the RTL8156 the rk3399 struggles slighlty with iperf3 @ 2.5gb but almost gets there. Needs affinity to a big core though [root@rockpi4 ~]# echo 5 > /proc/irq/221/smp_affinity_list [root@rockpi4 ~]# iperf3 -c 192.168.1.9 Connecting to host 192.168.1.9, port 5201 [ 5] local 192.168.1.12 port 50268 connected to 192.168.1.9 port 5201 [ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate Retr Cwnd [ 5] 0.00-1.00 sec 251 MBytes 2.10 Gbits/sec 10252 KBytes [ 5] 1.00-2.00 sec 263 MBytes 2.21 Gbits/sec0252 KBytes [ 5] 2.00-3.00 sec 255 MBytes 2.13 Gbits/sec 10211 KBytes [ 5] 3.00-4.00 sec 258 MBytes 2.17 Gbits/sec 20182 KBytes [ 5] 4.00-5.00 sec 258 MBytes 2.16 Gbits/sec 10214 KBytes [ 5] 5.00-6.00 sec 263 MBytes 2.22 Gbits/sec0214 KBytes [ 5] 6.00-7.01 sec 257 MBytes 2.14 Gbits/sec 20264 KBytes [ 5] 7.01-8.00 sec 264 MBytes 2.22 Gbits/sec0264 KBytes [ 5] 8.00-9.00 sec 257 MBytes 2.16 Gbits/sec 10232 KBytes [ 5] 9.00-10.00 sec 258 MBytes 2.17 Gbits/sec 10234 KBytes - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate Retr [ 5] 0.00-10.00 sec 2.52 GBytes 2.17 Gbits/sec 90 sender [ 5] 0.00-10.00 sec 2.52 GBytes 2.17 Gbits/sec What is confusing me is on Arm64 when you act as server/slave to a client the throughput drops drastically. [Bug 1838115] Re: linux hwe i386 kernel 5.0.0-21.22~18.04.1 crashes on Lenovo x220
Did a bisect on the drm i915 driver, came up with no root cause. Did a full bisect between 4.18 and 4.20, bisected down to a PTI commit: 7757d607c6b3186de42e1fb0210b9c5d8b70 is the first bad commit commit 7757d607c6b3186de42e1fb0210b9c5d8b70 Author: Joerg Roedel Date: Wed Jul 18 11:41:14 2018 +0200 x86/pti: Allow CONFIG_PAGE_TABLE_ISOLATION for x86_32 Allow PTI to be compiled on x86_32. This seems to make sense, it's x86_32 specific and explains the more random nature of the crashes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1838115 Title: linux hwe i386 kernel 5.0.0-21.22~18.04.1 crashes on Lenovo x220 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1838115/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
